Worlds First 808 Pro ”E”

Good day team,
Here is my latest money pit, a new 808 PRO E, after extensive research on numerous forums I’ve come to the conclusion that this is the worlds first pro built “E” not that I'm pro builder (couldn’t be father from the truth) but all of the aftermarket “BLING” on it puts it in the “Pro built category”.

Basically I was so fricken impressed with my 808, I went out and bought all of the aftermarket parts available for and 808 and then realized I couldn’t put them all on a used / dirty 808 so I bit the bullet and well here we are several $$$ later.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_3159.jpg

Just an FYI I have the front alu steering blocks coming on Thursday and yes I'm a long ways off from completion but give me two weeks and I'll be beating it at the track.

For what it's worth
I'm getting a 1512 2.5d S for it (DB if you want to upgrade I’ll buy your motor?) and plan on running it on 4s 30C 4500mAH. Gearing will be either 46/18 or 42/15, I’ll run 5k in the front and rear diff and 30k in the center and since Mike doesn’t have these in stock I’ve got MetalMan fabbing me up a motor mount as I write this post.

Thanks for your time gentlemen and have a great day..

Shaun.

lincpimp 07.06.2008 03:44 AM

Man, Shaun, I think you have more invested in the handful of vehicles you have that I have in everything I own!!!

That buggy looks too nice to use, it really looks great! I am not into shelf queens, but I would have a hard time getting that dirty...

Serum 07.06.2008 04:13 AM

Nice one..

I don't understand the 'swiss 7075 T6' aluminum though, looks like a 'made in china' cover to me.. :)

Didn't knew the standard for 7075 in Switzerland is better than anywhere else.. I know chinese people have got their own selective way of thinking in whether to label a material 7075 or not..

Mister-T 07.06.2008 04:42 AM

I doubt that xray would use some cheap aluminium. I think they put engraved writting to clearly make difference between Integy/gpm blings and xray stuff.

It's just odd that xray who did write few month ago a column about that they don't agree about blings and aftermarket because that car was made to work properly out of the box and that result of using blinbling was people complaing about the car handle poorly. Obviously most of the time the cause was due to the bling bling added ...

George16 07.06.2008 05:21 AM

Very nice indeed!!!!

Definitely a good investment :).

DRIFT_BUGGY 07.06.2008 06:05 AM

Looking good Shaun but sorry, I plan on keeping my motor :intello:

jhautz 07.06.2008 07:36 AM

Looks nice! When you are finished with this it will have to be the most expensive 1/8 buggy on the planet.

I'm curious to see if it stays just as durable as it is in its stock form once all of the plastic is replaced with aluminum. I'm wondering if the aluminum parts will now have no flex and put more stress on the plastic parts that are left.

What are you doing with the "old" E-808? (1 month old. lol)

Serum 07.06.2008 08:41 AM

i mean xray doesn't need to say they use good quality aluminum, but to advertise with 'swiss 7075' is pathetic if you ask me.

crazyjr 07.06.2008 10:53 AM

Sorry dude, but you got beat by a few months. Dafni even offered a custom body to the first E-808, Backfire won it

jayjay283 07.06.2008 11:03 AM

Nice Shaun, another sweet ride, you know I love the bling too lol. Now you can use the other used one as a true basher and not feel bad about messing it up lol. I agree about the swiss emblem, it kind of looks like Mercedes putting an Italian Leather emblem all over their seats, who needs to point out quality. Then again the Swiss are too arrogant to mine their own Steel and damage their environment, so its all highly refined imported steel. Enjoy the sweet ride !

Thanks J.. I’ll be quite curious to see how it holds up against a stock one, I'm guessing I’ll be braking more parts on the this one, we’ll see..

I'm defiantly keeping my “OLD” 808 hhhhaaaa hhaa..

Have a great one

Without a doubt backfire and then jhautz were the first to build a bad ass “E” 808, hell I learned from them!, this however is a 808 E Pro (hence the BLING!) all of the alum puts it in the class all by it’s self , not me. Don’t get me wrong anyone with an 808 can do it, I'm just posting the first one in progress..

Have a great one

Shaun.

Thanks Jay, an exactly what I was thinking, I get to beat the beans out of one and apply the knowledge to the other one with minimal beatings..

Thanks for stopping by and have a weekend or what left of it..

Shaun.

Sammus 07.07.2008 12:59 AM

I'd love this thing so much... if only for the 100% spring steel drive train. Does anyone know if you can even get spring steel drive shafts for any other non xray car or buggy?

pumpkinfish 07.08.2008 01:51 PM

Did you ever use that setup I posted? I never heard back from you on any results.

TDC57 07.08.2008 02:08 PM

Yes absolutely I did (thank you).. I might have taken it to the extreme, I added / adjusted both of my 808 buggies per your recommendations, of course only one drives at this time but I did notice driving characteristics as soon as it hit the track..

What else you got (??)

Thanks for your time and have a great one

Shaun.

Serum 07.08.2008 02:25 PM

I love the xray cars, and this one is sweeter than sweet..

@ mothman; there is no 'swiss 7075 t6' aluminum.. All you find if you google for it are xray oriented parts..

TDC57 07.08.2008 08:29 PM

Thanks for the kind words Serum,
I'm not sure about whole made in (???) or not, but I do like the way it looks..

have a great one

Shaun.

TDC57 07.08.2008 08:30 PM

I got my motor and shocks today, the front and rear diff should show up on Friday, hopefully this will be running at our So-Cal bash this weekend..

Thanks for your time team and have a great one

Updates.

Hey Shaun hows it going? I should have known that while I am in the middle of travels around the globe that you would have another project on the burners. Your like a roller coaster that just keeps going up and down and never stops. Nice project selection as usual young man. You are a bad influance on all of us you know. I have been showing my two boys some stuff on the RCM forum and they are really getting excited about getting settled in Korea and starting into some projects with me. Keep up the bad influances Shaun, and nice work again.

Nice work and nice towel, lol

MetalMan 07.24.2008 12:39 AM

Still missing bumpers . But it sure is looking great! Any chance you might have weighed it in its current form compared to your other 808? One last question, have you glued the tires yet?

I did that with my M18MT. Built it and tried to drive it without gluing the tires. I didn't think it would make much difference, wrong. I couldn't get the car to go anywhere.

JERRY2KONE 07.24.2008 02:57 AM

Actually??

Actually Shaun we are on the tail end of the move. We are still in San Francisco for another week visiting with other family members. We are leaving with the kids in tow for Hawaii on 02/August for a few days of paradise before the final leg of the trip. Vegas was great and we managed to win enought to pay for that leg of the trip, plus an extra $500 in our pockets. We just love Vegas.

I hope to take the kids on the Hawaiian ATV mountain tour for some outdoor adventure while we are there, and the wife insists on going to the Polonesian Cultural Center for the usual island tourist adventure so the kids get the full package. We will finally be in Korea by 07/August to move into the new house. All I know so far is that it is a 5 bedroom/ 3 bath that has been just refurbished. So at least there is a hobby room for the trucks. Thanks for the humanity support and don't worry we will be getting things rolling with the Maxx collection soon after we get settled. The boys are extremely anxious about getting started. I will get some photos up before Xmas for sure. Have a good one Shaun.

Couldn't you get a XT8 instead?( Assuming you have a X buggy already).

Nevermind. This thing looks KILLER!

Best of luck, friend!

Thanks DB.. It’s really too bad we live in different time zones, I would love to have the opportunity to bash with you and you’re totally assume 8eight buggy… I actulay think that would be good race, your 8eight against my 808.. For now I concede mainly because I cant drive to save my life on a track, Bashing however I’ll give you run for your money..

Hay Travis,
Thank you for the compliment!, No they are glued down, I missed you at work today, however you working tomorrow 2-7 so I’ll drop them off then for our usual deal (??)

As for the weight differences no not yet, but I did order a special scale that goes to the grams so I’ll have it all figured out soon.

For what it’s worth,
Per the replays I’ve received from the Teamxray site the total weight difference between the Alu and the stock is like 40 grams..

We’ll see..

Have a great one and I’ll see you in few hours..
