thats the same setup ima run in my rig :D cant wait:p

crazyjr 10.04.2005 11:05 PM

and by the sound of it, he didn't even open it up. HOLY-

nitrostarter 10.04.2005 11:10 PM

And I thought my 9L was one heck of a motor, which it still is, but this is crazy.

dabid 10.04.2005 11:49 PM

Anyone still think a nitro Savage is fast? :eek:

crazyjr 10.05.2005 12:53 AM

Anyone think any nitro is fast? (except 1/8 nitro)

Serum 10.05.2005 01:12 AM

Crap..

That's fast..

i am going to make a centerdiff converted savage, with the 9 or 10XL on 20 cells, i've got high hopes seeying this baby passing by!

dabid 10.05.2005 02:26 AM

Anyone know who's truck that is? I'd love to see more on it!

Serum 10.05.2005 02:45 AM

check the link, search for that name on the internet, it's rather common that the name shows up on a forum.

There are two more pics online.. With the shell on though..

Basketti 10.05.2005 08:05 AM

wow that thing is fast!!!

I dont know much about brushless, but he was running a feigao 8xl right? and i was just looking at the feigao brushless motors mike sells and theres a 8L but not a 8xl whats the difference? is it like large and extra large?

Nick 10.05.2005 08:15 AM

Yes, the can is longer:
S = Small can
L = Large can
XL = Extra Large can

I want to see a vid on that one Serum:D

Serum 10.05.2005 10:38 AM

That will happen for sure Jr.. The building process will also be online..

here are the dimensions of the cans;

All are 36 mm in diameter,

S=50mm/220gramms
L=60mm/278gramms
XL=74mm/370gramms

poconoblmaxx 10.05.2005 10:44 AM

Hello I see you found my vid. Glad to hear the kind words. The vid doesnt do it justice. Wheelie bar is mandatory on that thing. :L:

Anyone know how long those kokams are going to last? I've been checking the cells after each run and no puffing up yet.

squeeforever 10.05.2005 12:51 PM

got some good pictures of it?

Serum 10.05.2005 12:53 PM

You're using a cutoff or an alarm?

Welcome to the forum bytheway!

Are you willing to share some nude pics?

poconoblmaxx 10.05.2005 01:14 PM

not yet :o I only run for a few minutes then charge them back up. I'll have more pics up soon. I had been running it on 16 GP3300 all summer but I switched to the lipos this past week. The first time I punched I was like :eek: . LiPo's rule!

I have a BL 1/8 buggy and a Revo conversion in the works.

Serum 10.05.2005 01:30 PM

well, you don't have got a too honoust compare, 16 cells vs 6S lipo..

the difference of those few volts is HUGE.. that and the light weight of those lipolys..

You really should get a voltage warning! for the sake of your kokams..

Nick 10.05.2005 01:32 PM

How many volts do you Lipos run?

Serum 10.05.2005 01:41 PM

6S nick..

poconoblmaxx 10.05.2005 02:14 PM

Ok I added some more pics. http://www.rcpics.net/member/Poconoblmaxx1

You know what the sad part is. I have two brand new FMA low voltage cuttoffs hanging on the wall. :rolleyes:

Serum 10.05.2005 02:35 PM

okay, you are the most lazy forum user we have got..
;)

dabid 10.05.2005 04:15 PM

Wow, I like the layout of the 1/8 buggy, never would have thought to have the motor at the front! Is that a custom upper deck in the rear?

poconoblmaxx 10.05.2005 05:06 PM

Thanks Dabid. The upper deck is just a piece of alum sheet. I had to make a new one because the old deck connected to the radio plate that I removed.

i though most lipos run 3.7 volts 3.7x6=22.2 volts

mothman 10.05.2005 06:31 PM

poconoblmaxx, I can see that u are not using the mechanical brake. You locked the 1st gear? If yes how did you do that? I would be glad if you can explain the process. Thanks

I'm locked in second. Its easy. All you need is some glue.

crazyjr 10.05.2005 08:07 PM

Welcome Poconoblmaxx. That savage is the most impressive bl setup i've seen so far. It's just mind blowing the way that truck accelerates. I only hope to have something like that someday

coolhandcountry 10.05.2005 08:23 PM

what is the most cells you have ran the truck on there pocono?

poconoblmaxx 10.05.2005 09:21 PM

Thanks Crazy. I've been at this for a few years now and I finally have something I like. When I bought my first bl setup Model Tech was selling brushless setups and the Hacker 8s was the "hot" motor to have for an emaxx.:rolleyes: I've done the smoking Schulze thing too...twice.

6s LiPo is the highest voltage I've tried.

I'll give a little backround on the truck. I finished the truck in Febuary of this year and ran it with 16Gp3300 with a 10L and a Hacker sport controller. Wasnt happy with the 10L so I switched to the 8XL and 9918. Ran that setup alot since March, great for bashing. Then I switched to to the 6s LiPo last week.

coolhandcountry 10.05.2005 09:26 PM

I run the 9xl and had run a 7xl. I have ran both with 18cells. Have not tried lipo yet. Looks like it does pretty good.

RC-Monster Mike 10.05.2005 09:40 PM

Nice! I remember the modeltech days myself(I had a few of them). I run my e-maxx on 22.2 volts occasionally to show off. Pretty hard to drive on a track, but it is impressive on open ground.

crazyjr 10.05.2005 09:46 PM

That vid. is making me reconsider the 7xl/9920 setup i was going to use. What controler did you use on that truck? Dafni is going to fall out of his chair when he sees this video:D

Why is that Crazy? 7XL should be capable of similar performance at the cost of a few more amps. Wouldnt run it on a 6s though.

I'm really suprised by everyones reaction to the vid. You cant really see the explosive wheelies and tire spinage from the vid. Doesnt help that I cant keep it on the road either.:p I'll make a real vid when I get some time.

RC-Monster Mike 10.05.2005 11:19 PM

The 7xl could handle the 6s, and would be a beast as well! Judging by the video, my e-maxx would beat it on 22.2 volts, but you can't really tell by the video. Of course, my e-maxx is probably a bit lighter! I need to get some video of my e-maxx with some voltage.

joeling 10.06.2005 01:25 AM

Hi Mike,

Sorry for interrupting, I was under the impression that the 7XL's bearings cannot handle 6S in the long term as they are rated only to 50K rpm ?

BTW poconoblmaxx, your truck is awesome.

Regasrds,
Joe Ling

Dafni 10.06.2005 02:23 AM

Welcome poconoblmaxx! Nice RC's. I also like the Buggy.

Crazyjr, I'm still sitting! :p This truck IS fast, no argument, but I would guess (hard to say from the vid, though) my Revo would not stay behind. Not much. On 16 cells and the 7XL it can move, too.

I'm sure the vid does not do it any justice.

Pocono, make sure to share some pics of that Revo. Have you seen mine, btw.
I'm seriously considering Lipos and a High end Lehner now. Something that works on 4S, but could also stand 6S. Let's see.

Thanks for sharing, Pocono. Glad to have you here.

crazyjr 10.06.2005 06:51 AM

The only reason i am reconsidering a 7xl is that i'm thinking a 8 or 9xl might be a better option for me. I'm looking for a setup that is more efficient with a 5s lipo upper limit, because anywhere i race here i will be racing against nitro's and i need an ultra efficient setup to run long mains without pitstops (even one in a 30 min main would be a problem).

Serum 10.06.2005 07:34 AM

with the 5S setup, i would take a 7XL, but the 8XL would do too.

But for endurance, the 9XL is the best choice.

poconoblmaxx 10.06.2005 10:12 AM

Thanks again for the kind words everyone.
Mike I wanna see that vid when you make it.:eek:
Quote:

Yes I did. I actually searched through the forum and collected all the pics of bl revos I could find and studied them before I started mine. :D
