Another project for me...

Just bought most of a traxxas slash. I will need some parts, but have most of it here in my pede spares bin. Not sure what motor and esc I will use, but I do have a spare sidewinder and a traxxas vxl motor. And I think I have a 9l laying around somewhere...

Looks like fun, I just got tired of messing with 2 wheel drive especially for off road. I am much more inclined to convert the slayer.

lutach 07.08.2008 10:36 AM

The Slash have plenty of space for a 3S3P. If I had one set up like that, it would provide hour(s) of fun .

bl-is-future 07.08.2008 10:42 AM

i agree with texas, i had a jato and though it was fun it was a squirly bugger. Rather just deal with 4 wheels drive.
good luck though, will be sweet when it is done.

BL_RV0 07.08.2008 11:36 AM

Go 4wd! :gasp:

rchippie 07.08.2008 11:49 AM

Driving a 2wd vechile will make you a better driver. Most of your top pros today started with 2wd mod .

true my jato made me a lot better driver.

BL_RV0 07.08.2008 11:52 AM

Yeah, but its really hard to have fun. I know I'm a better driver now because i only owned 2wd's except for my E-maxx (which was always broken) for a couple years.

lincpimp 07.08.2008 12:00 PM

Just bought the wheels and tires for the slash. I will make my own slayer when the parts come out. I have a complete revo, that I built from brand new parts, and it will be the basis for the slayer. It is alrady converted to electric. It will be a few months before the parts are available, so I will play with the slash till then! I like 2wd, except for the braking...

TDC57 07.08.2008 01:05 PM

This is cool and all, but i was kinda of looking forward to your T4 project, (what about that one ??)..

I agree with Pimplinc:wink:, I want the Slayer parts to put on my Revo 3.3, plus the tires would fit in the wheelwells on my Chevy Crew Cab, sweeeeeeeet!!!!!!

Makes sense now...

I will have the 4 tec done in a week or so, just need the parts to show up...

And I will most likely not have the slash parts till next week.

In any case, TDC, you have not been on here long enough to remember the brand new aftershock I bought almost 1 year ago. I have yet to convert that truck, it is still in the box, brand new... Worse part is that I have a pair of 3700 4s fp lipos, a cc hv85, and a kb 10xl just sitting here. Just have to make a motor mount, battery trays and wire it up. I will get to it...

brushlessboy16 07.08.2008 01:30 PM

the only problem that i see arising with the slayer are the pin wheel adapters, no hexes.... sounds like its gonna be a problem

and if you convert to 12mm hexes idk if u will find wheels that size

Slash wheels are 2.2 size. So any wheel, inc beadlocks will fit the traxxas tires.

brushlessboy16 07.08.2008 02:15 PM

uhh..
they have stepped beads, the rear bead is alot bigger in circumfrence then the outter...

normal 2.2's wont work
take a look

My spoon is to big? I'm trying to figure out what that means ...maybe I'm just stupid it must be some funny sexual referance..anyway it's bugging the hell out of me!...lol.

"The art of paying attention..." Guess I missed that day at school!!!!

Edit that, the SLASH uses 2.2 wheels, the SLAYER has the weird stepped bead. So any 2.2 wheel will fit the slash tires, and vice versa

Quite right BB16, Glad that I bought the wheels and tires as a set of brand new take offs. Wonder if the slash and the slayer use the same tires? The axle diamter of a revo is larger than a rusty/pede by one mm. Plus it looks like the slayer uses hexes, while the slash uses pins. The slash wheels have different offsets front and rear too.

brushlessboy16 07.08.2008 04:00 PM

looks like pins on the slayer...

Im in summer school.. i might have learned the art, but didnt apply it...

They use hexes, you can see it in other drawings it just doesn't show in that rendering.

Yeah, the Stampede uses the pins and then a plastic hex over the top

coolrunnings 07.08.2008 05:51 PM

I like the part where they use the bats on that guy kinda reminds me of the ending of that movie casino.

lincpimp 07.12.2008 01:40 AM

Got most of the chassis together! Still searching for a good deal on a body...

I am also waiting on the shocks, and the bumpers. Seems like a nice sized truck, can't wait to get it runnng. I think I will use a hacker b50 12s motor with a sidewinder esc. I have a couple of neuenergy 3s lipos I can use with it. The 12s and a mm was a good setup in my pede, so it should work well in the slash.

BTW, the slash uses hexes, std black ones in the rear, and the thicker grey ones in the front, just like a vxl or xl5 pede/rustler. Wheels are std 2.2 size, and so are the tires, but they are quite narrow. Looks to be a stout truck, with plenty of room on the chassis!

rootar 07.12.2008 06:39 PM

fair warning limp, the huge front of the slash body acts like a kite for anything over 55mph lol i was doing speed runs in the school parking lot about the time i hit top speed ( 60 forsure) it took flight and went about head high landed on the lid and slid on its lid for over 50 feet before it turned sideways and started flipping lol burnt right through my antenna tube and antenna and almost trough the back of the cab on the body. so be sure and gear it for 50 or less lol or keep the antenna under the body lol.

brushlessboy16 07.12.2008 06:55 PM

will you guys keep an eye out for any cheap slash's? i want one, maybe trade for my raze :D

_paralyzed_ 07.12.2008 08:37 PM

I had a kidney blow up and haven't been around for awhile. What is this slayer you all speak of? Anybody have a link?

brushlessboy16 07.12.2008 08:40 PM

oh gladd to see you back everything alright?

here you go
http://www.traxxas.com/products/elec...5/trx_5805.htm

junkman 07.12.2008 08:59 PM

I too was planning a revo to slayer conversion, but the more I look at it the more I am afraid that there is going to be so much different it won't be cost effective. If you have to buy a chassis, wheels tires, arms, axles & stubs, body, mounts bumpers, . I don't know if it is going to be worth it.

_paralyzed_ 07.12.2008 09:19 PM

thanks bb16, I'll be alright, I seem to bounce back from everything......

_paralyzed_ 07.12.2008 09:22 PM

bb16- that link was to the slash, I'm excited about that, but what is a slayer??

_paralyzed_ 07.12.2008 09:24 PM

I googled it, nevermind, and didn't read the link properly, I got it now!

You remind me of my uncle. He has had more health issues and comes back kicking. Glad to know you are doing well though and keep up the fight!
