Which Medusa motor for E-Revo?

I am going to get a E-revo and a medusa motor. (Got a MM ESC)
But which medusa ?

3300 ?
2200 ?
2000 ?

And should I get a 3s 8000mah lipo or two 2s 8000mah lipos?

Thats my only question before I order everything, and are ready to go electric monster!

the 3300kv should not be considered, it depends on what voltage you will be running...with both the 2200 and 2000 you could run both on 4 and 5s and if you run 6s the 1600kv model

Finnster 07.14.2008 11:41 AM

RCM Mike had the 60mm 2000kv in his Erevo this weekend and it looked pretty good. Stayed cool until it broke the revo's driveshaft. Too bad as I wanted to get a better view of it. Not sure if he had on 4 or 5s tho. It was on a MM as well.

So which medusa should I go with then ?
2200kv and 2 x 2s lipos ?

if you are running 4s

the 2200 will give you more speed but less runtime and potentially a hotter motor...if you plan on ever going higher in voltage I would get the 2000

Ev1er 07.14.2008 11:55 AM

so which motor will give me the longer runtimes ?

as a rule a lower KV gives you longer the run times and slower speeds, but you can make up the slower speeds by running more voltage

I like to run a higher voltage/lower KV in my setups but that becomes more expensive

when you run higher voltage you get less of an amp draw from the motor and this increases runtime and decreases heat

Ev1er 07.14.2008 12:19 PM

Then I should get the 2000kv motor and 2 x 2s lipos ?

that would be good and if you feel it is too slow you can gear up but that would put extra resistance against the motor and this can cause heat buildup and reduced run time, but with a decent motor like a Medusa it may not be an issue...there is a give and take with BL setups

Ev1er 07.14.2008 12:45 PM

so what runtime will I get with that setup ?

with my setup on 6s I get 30 mins, so my guess would be 15 mins if your packs have a 5000 mah capacity

Ev1er 07.14.2008 01:10 PM

I have 8000 mah and I was expecting an hour!!

TexasSP 07.14.2008 01:27 PM

Depends on driving style and motor used and how you have your truck geared. I tried the medusa on my maxx but the motor got too hot for my liking bordering on 175-180. I ran 6s with the 36-60-1500 medusa. They are good motors and have worked for some in an MT but if you are in a hot climate like me I do not recommend using them. Now when the 70mm version comes out all should be fine.

Ev1er 07.14.2008 01:29 PM

with the medusa 2200, MM esc and 2 x TrueRC 15c 2s 8000mah lipos, what speed and runtime will I get ?

with stock gearing expect speeds 40-45 mph and runtime around 30 mins and as TeaxasSP said it also depends on driving style, you wont go wrong with either of the setups...(2000,2200)

Ev1er 07.14.2008 01:45 PM

ok thanks!
I will order tomorrow when I have transferred the money to paypal. (I am only 15, so I dont have a credit card, just a bank card)

TexasSP 07.14.2008 01:46 PM

If you are talking about the 2200 50mm can medusa that will be too small a motor for the revo. You will want to stay with the 60mm can and 2000kv is the highest they have on it.

If it were me I would go 5s on 5000mah packs with the 60mm 2000kv motor and gear for 40mph. Don't even consider the 50mm, its too small. The 60mm is pushing it as it is.

Don't overgear too much and push the motor too hard, else go for a bigger motor. You should get 45-1hr bashing.

You can try 4S, but don't overgear the motor. Your looking at 35mph gearing perhaps. Long runtimes tho on 8000. I would think an hr.

Ev1er 07.14.2008 01:47 PM

oh, thanks
I heard someone talked about a 70mm ?

Ev1er 07.14.2008 01:48 PM

cool!:D
The I will try 4s and the 60mm 2000kv motor>:D

Was just wondering if the nitro Revo parts fit the E-revo? (Except chassis parts offcourse)
WIll the suspension part for the Nitro Revo fit the E-revo ?

Please tell me what part fit and what parts does not !?

TexasSP 07.15.2008 10:39 AM

Everything will interchange except the chassis and transmission.

Ev1er 07.16.2008 07:27 AM

I was just wondering if i can use this one : http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXNKY9&P=ML as a Y-cable to connect 2 batteries on my esc ?

Arct1k 07.16.2008 08:46 AM

Yes - This combines the voltage of the two packs
