so at like 18,000 rpm hes pushing it to 60?!?!?!? lol dont think so

hoovhartid 07.15.2008 12:15 AM

it was doing 61mph...
...in the back seat of my car while i was driving to the track

jnev 07.15.2008 12:19 AM

 Thats funny. I am hoping its just a typo.

Motoman 07.15.2008 01:03 AM

That's hilarious.:lol: 3 cell lipo huh? 1500kv? Am I missing something?:rofl::lol:

With those specs, it should top out at about 20-25mph.

You know what the funniest part is? Those guys actually believe it and are buying into it with 3 serious replies in less than an hour.

lincpimp 07.15.2008 01:41 AM

Also, if he is wrong about the kv, can you imagine how hot that motor will get trying to pull 60+ mph. I am sure that he is running an l can, probably a 6l. I am sure his lipo of choice (maxcraps?) is getting hot too...

azjc 07.15.2008 02:57 AM

HAHA, you used "limp" and "straight" in the same sentence!!! Is there some sort of "gorses ass" award I can digitally send you???

What's_nitro? 07.15.2008 04:17 AM

That's pretty funny... I'll offer him $100. It'l make a great space heater come winter. :mdr: 61 MpH...downhill...with a 30mph tailwind!

I can't see where he could have made a typo. Except maybe on the cell count, but it's kind-of hard to miss the "5" or "6" and hit a "3". I trust him on the 1500kv. If it were running on 6s it would make much more sense.

brushlessboy16 07.15.2008 07:28 AM

He just swapped the pinion and spur

Yeah, that sounds about right.

bl-is-future 07.15.2008 08:20 AM

maybe it was 3s in series and he forgot to mention the series part. Still a good typo or just plain BS. i looked and sure enough down at the bottom there linc is setting him straight.

brushlessboy16 07.15.2008 08:24 AM

just like the guy i was talking to on rcu, trying to claim that his MM 7700 has lasted 2 years running on 5s.....hes telling me that hes turning 87k rpm and wont take no for an answer.... ugh n00bs..

Takedown 07.15.2008 09:51 AM

Kids these days... I mean look at how he types. Would you feel confortable buying from him. He doesnt even have any pics of it either.......

Actually Pimp, they are called TrashAmps and i like mine.

Arct1k 07.15.2008 01:51 PM

Actually I think someone here has been using a 7700 on 5/6s for short bursts for drag racing and was having no issues...

To each his own... I would not buy them again after trying fp and neuenergy packs. I have had more success with used fp and neu packs than I did with new maxpuffs packs. I have had at least a dozen maxamps packs, and all but one had to be returned. Not my cup of tea... Plus they are way over rated and over priced.

big greg 07.15.2008 07:22 PM

lol im glad i added so much hillarity to the board, and about maxamps, i agree are overpriced/underrated. some say that true rc are the same cells, but seems like trc are so much better, but i just picked up an evo 25 4900 4s pack off ebay for 81$ im hoping its still good lol, i got it for a steal

TexasSP 07.15.2008 10:52 PM

I love his answer to linc! Geared to the max.....

I so wished I lived in maryland right now! :diablo:

this thing is geared to the max.. it has a jato 54 tooth spur/and emaxx 22 tooth pinion... and if this e revo dosent do what i say ill give ur money back and u keep the truck..... i live in maryland u can come here with any 1/8 scale monster truck with any motor u like and ill whip ur ass and still sell u the truck..... and no trades this is custume made by mehttp://www.rctech.net/forum/classic_...milies/nod.gif.. if any one on this site thinks they can beat this truck we can race for money before i sell thanks///// also if any one would like any mod work done or gas to eletric let me know..ill give u the best set ups availible thanks...any questions call 4435216193 no low balls

brushlessboy16 07.15.2008 11:09 PM

heres a laugh

RCU NOOB-im doing about 84,000 rpms with temps at 270f esc gets real hot tho. but never solder melting off the board so i think im ok. i watch my temps close i no im not susposed to but its fun, if i ever have probs i can gear down upto 5 teeth on my pinion and a bunch on my spur also it rips im happy it runs good that dune set-up is wild

Brushlessboy16-
That proves that your lying... NO motor can handle 84,000rpm.. it just doesnt happen!

even Neu's only are rated to 60k,

not only would your bearings self destruct but the rotor isnt balanced to that high of an rpm

If its getting that hot it would de-magnetize the rotor and render it useless.

N00bcake-
well whats 7700 times 11.1? 3s lipo? It runs very very fast, i run my 2s most of the time but for being faster sakes i can drop a 3s cant i?

Brushlessboy16-
yeah not taking into consideration driveline drag, wind resistance, and the Loaded KV value of the motor.... still ur not turning any where near 80k

Mind you at this point about 4 other people joind in trying to prove this guy wrong... Myself, Takedown, and Trev8913....

he pm's me saying that someone on THE TRAXXAS FORUMS said it would be fine and could run 3s all day..

Just annoys the crap out of me when people soak up wrong info

lincpimp 07.15.2008 11:33 PM

I hit him up with a reply, hope no one buys it...

What's_nitro? 07.16.2008 12:09 AM

I might take him up on that "money back guarantee".

I'll buy it, make a video of it not going anywhere near 60mph, and get my money back! And keep the truck!

hoovhartid 07.16.2008 05:16 AM

"i need this gone asap,,,, so this thig has a mamba max esc and a fegio 1500kv motor..this thing will beat all gas trucks including the big mgt 8.0.. it has been clocked at 61 with 3cell 4500 lipo..it is rtr asking 500 obo. need the money .. so hurry and get this truck"-MD DRIVER

I must apologise to MD Driver...

i didn't realise his thig had a fegio motor. I thought it was a fiegao...my bad. I didn't realise the mgt 8.0 was a gas truck. And when he said "clocked at 61" I assumed he meant miles per hour, not parsecs in neverneverland. Maybe he means 61 in its own scale?:na:

"i need this gone asap,,,,"
ok then click your heels together three times and say "theres no place like home"

I'll give him 500 schrute bucks for it...(watch the office)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=MjX9WXURbyc

they have the same ratio as unicorns to leprechauns

by the way... thanks Big Greg, I needed a laugh :mdr:

lincpimp 07.17.2008 10:28 AM

I guess I rattled his cage a bit, here is a PM I got from him. Good luck deciphering it...

"i made a mistake by saying it was the fegio motor///its 2 the velineon with the maba max esc that did 60...and ill say this again the stock spur gear for the revo is a 38..but like i said im using a 54 tooth jato spur with a 22tooth 32p pinnon .. just because you have done many convertions dosent mean what i have wont kick ur ass............mycam is not really clear but i have a camera phone until i buy a new cam friday... my shit is fast foreal.. come to maryland and ill race any thing u bring that is 1/8 scale and ill garante that ill beat u by 10 trucks..ps bring ur wallet.. do all the math u want4435216193 call for any ass whipins"

Heres the calc info with the 3500kv velineon motor:

Differential Ratio: 2.8461538461538462
Transmission Ratio: 2.111111111111111
Other Ratio: 1
Spur Tooth Count: 54
Pinion Tooth Count: 22
Total Voltage: 11.1
Motor KV: 3500
Tire Diameter (inches): 5.75
Tire Ballooning (inches): 0.5
Motor Current Draw: 0
Motor coil Ω: 0
Spur/Pinion Ratio: 2.45 : 1
Total Ratio: 14.74825 : 1
Tire Circumference (inches): 21.21 inches (538.63 mm)
Total Motor Speed: 38850 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 52.9 mph (84.97 km/h)
Estimated Adjusted Speed: 49 mph (79 km/h) - 7% loss
Effective KV Value: 3500

Thats a bit closer to the 61mph, and I figured the wide ratio 2nd gear. He may have taller tires... but they would have to be about 7.5inches tall to get over 60. And I really do not see the velineon pulling that kind of weight.

Arct1k 07.17.2008 10:33 AM

You should send him back a few pics of rides here - thought the MT record was 80+

How about the maxxx with a 1527!!!!

bl-is-future 07.17.2008 10:53 AM

some people.

TexasSP 07.17.2008 10:57 AM

I don't think a single velineon could pull 52 and not choke or kill the controller.

lincpimp 07.17.2008 12:06 PM

This guy is 29 according to his profile on rctech:oh:

With the 2 speed, and careful driving I think it could do it. S can motors are potent, and can push out some power. They will get hot, so they do not make for a good bashing motor. For a couple of speed runs it would be fine.

I had an emaxx running a 6s motor with 3s 10000 maxnaps lipo. I easily got over 60 out of that truck, but puffed the lipo in the process. So it was pulling some amps, I even thermaled the MM. It could handle about 2 mins of runs, that is about it.

big greg 07.17.2008 12:20 PM

man, james didnt know youd get into a pissing contest with this guy lol, hes so full of it tho

He does not understand gearing, and I am trying to educate him a bit. He seems to think that he has added a bunch of teeth to both gears and it should go faster...

Not really a pissing contest, but I did find this on rcgroups:

"hi all. im selling my brushless converted revo for $475.. its a gas chassis with the converstion on it.. it has a veleneon motor with a mamba max esc...ive changed the gears to a jato 54spur and a 22tooth traxxas emaxx pinnion.. its been ran with 4cell and 3 cell lipo...the truck is very fast [58-60 mph] pics up friday or call 4435216193"

If he was running the vxl on 4s lipo, he may have been able to hit that speed with his gearing. Yet again, I would not try to bash with that setup, but for speed runs it may hold up...

TexasSP 07.17.2008 03:07 PM

I would have left the guy alone if he hadn't have started cussing and ranting. Main thing is that I don't want someone unknowing to waste their hard earned money with this guy only to get ripped off. Whatever other fantasy he wants to put on himself is fine as long as other people aren't getting conned in the process.

What's_nitro? 07.17.2008 11:20 PM

Hey linc he only said "bring anything 1/8th scale". He didn't say it had to be a MT. I'm in MA, maybe I should bring my Ultra GTP down there and show him up! :diablo:

I thought the same thing. I have a gtp with a kb 45 8l in it. Just swap the MM for a MMM and run 5-6s on it, instead of the usual 4s. That should be good for 60mph or so...

What's_nitro? 07.17.2008 11:41 PM

Yeah. I currently have a 1515/1Y on 6s in mine. :oh: It would completely destroy his truck...since after beating him in a race I would turn around and ram his truck at WOT just because he is such an ass.

I would say skip ramming the truck, and go for his leg...

1515 1y on 6s must be a beast. are you still running the 2 speed? I use the solid center gear, 20/51 gearing, and 4s on the 2300kv KB45 motor. Still runs cool, and the mm is doing fine too. It can get a pair of trakpowers warmer than I like though... I have 4 trakpowers, maybe I should do 2s2p???
