Castle Link Feedback Thread

I was playing with my MMM and Castle Link yesterday and noticed a few "bugs". So, I thought that maybe a thread for feedback would help Castle developers.

Castle Link V 3.10
  • The "Mamba Monster" ESC is missing from the list when you use the "have trouble connecting" screen.

  • In the basic settings screen, you cannot set a custom lipo cutoff higher than 17.1v, so no 6s lipo settings. I assume the auto-lipo setting needs to be used.

brushlessboy16 07.22.2008 09:59 AM

i cant even download the 3.10 it says prerequisites not found

BrianG 07.22.2008 10:32 AM

I had trouble the first time I downloaded 3.10. It failed partway through the install. But I figured it was just a corrupt download and redownloaded it and it installed fine.

George16 07.22.2008 11:30 AM

Damn, I'm still using 3.051 version. However with 3.051, I was able to set my lipo cutoff to 19.2V for my 6S batteries.

When did this new version come out?

Arct1k 07.22.2008 11:41 AM

Can someone post up settings.mdb thx

pipeous 07.22.2008 12:00 PM

The newest version I had wouldn't connect to the bec. I had to go back to an older version to make the changes. I'll have to look I am using 3.051 and no update available automatically. guess you have to download it direct... maybe that has fixed the bec problem...

azjc 07.22.2008 12:06 PM

what are the advantages of the ver 3.1.?

bdebde 07.22.2008 01:04 PM

ver 3.10 adds stuff for air esc's I believe.

brushlessboy16 07.22.2008 01:14 PM

anyone have 3.51 installer?

Jeremy1976 07.22.2008 01:16 PM

Remember the days when the technology was far from what it is now? Who would of thought we would be able to plug in a ESC to the computer and download updates....

brushlessboy16 07.22.2008 09:18 PM

well The latest castlelink dont like xp SP3... im runing TinyXP Rev09

BrianG 07.22.2008 09:24 PM

From what I understand, TinyXP is a hacked minimal OS. So, I doubt you're gonna find much support for that.

brushlessboy16 07.22.2008 09:39 PM

not as much as you think, i had i custom version of xp and it worked perfecly, can somone post the Installer file?

BrianG 07.22.2008 09:43 PM

I'd like to keep the purpose of this thread focused on reporting bugs in the latest Link software on "real" OS's to help the developers out. If Patrick decides to read this thread, I don't think he wants to trawl through somewhat irrelevant posts.

brushlessboy16 07.22.2008 09:48 PM

haha ok...
booted onto legit xp...yuck-with the sp3 and it still wont work.
Bug-when i Try to install the installer with .net frameworks its says "some prerequisites could not be downloaded"

brushlessboy16 07.22.2008 10:37 PM

I fixed it, the D/l source for the Framework in the installer is broken i had to install it from a different location

YogyBrushless 07.23.2008 02:28 AM

its more of a general statement...some people need to have the latest technological breakthroughs and be the first to have them.... be the proverbial guinea pig

Sammus 07.24.2008 02:41 AM

yes i was confused at first too. Also i am one of those guinea pigs you refer to.
It is a disease there is no medication for. No rehab either. Oh well guess i will just have to keep buying.

Arct1k 07.24.2008 09:55 AM

3.1 is a beta and is targetted at the air controllers (mainly helis) to give them a new governor mode.

For the car controllers the only addition is the ability to print your settings - No actual firmware change I believe.

I apologize for any percieved connection to Tekno RC there was none intended........

DrFizz2k1 07.26.2008 05:46 PM

everything was working fine... UNTIL... I installed XP sp3 and all of a sudden, "Unable to connect to database" pops up. I tried the fixes listed on the website, but they wont install in sp3 because they are "included in the service pack."

DrFizz2k1 07.29.2008 04:55 AM

Tried to unstall SP3 and it still does the same thing.. will uninstall and clear the registry and try older version... hope it works... this is gettin old.. I emaild castle about this weeks ago, no response... and none here..

FIXT!!!!

.NET Framework 2.0 seems to have been the culprit. Furthur research on Castles website set me on the path, and a quick ugrade to framework 3.5 has everything working again..

Maybe i shouldnt have been so lazy... My bad.. Sorry Castle...

is your install a valid/ legit one? the problem these days is from those running copied or downloaded software which can cause issues like this.

but install the framework 3.5, that fixed it for me. (same sort of thing, dont think it was exactly the same error though) (its on windows download site)

hoep this helps,
ryan

Looks to me like your last install of .NET framework was bad... I'd upgrade to the newest version -- that should take care of it.

brushlessboy16 08.26.2008 10:10 AM

when i had to install, the framework from an outside source, the one included in the Castle link prerequisites installer did not work

Still not working for me, should I uninstall something?

tc3_racer_001 08.27.2008 03:51 AM

depending on your computer i will swap it for mine :P then it will work haha. (gotta be a c2d or c2q though

i dunno why its coming up with the error? if possible disable anything which may interfer with it and try again, otherwise get a good book and enjoy watching the wonderful blue hills of windows xp install :)

Do you think I really should just reinstall windows XP?
