nice brushless motor for e-revo
Hey all it's been awhile.
I got a new e-revo that I want to be brushless. I only bash on my home made track that is small and tight. I have a buggy I converted with a MM and Fieago 9xl (black finned motor) using two Orion 4800 lipos for power. I have another MM and want a good relaible motor for a stock e-revo that is not too expensive. I was thinking of another Fieago/wanderer 9xl or 10xl with a heat sink. I will using the same battries for now. I would have to get a new charger setup to go any higher in capicity. I am also thinking of using my current setup in the e-revo and getting a new motor for the buggy. All opinions and questions are welcome. |
Medusa v2 60mm 2000kv $115 is the way to go...
|
I've been using a 10XL with no problems on the emaxx/hyper 7, however I am running 6S A123's. 10XL may be a bit low in the KV department for your application. If the 70mm medusa was available, i'd switch to that in a heartbeat.
|
How about the 50mm medusa that is available in the monster store? Where can I get a 70mm one?
|
50 is not enough for a revo - 70 does not exist yet...
|
I use a 10XL on my gorillamaxx e-revo and I haven't had any real issues with it. See some of our last basher vids on brushlessmayhem.com for video. I think I got some of the revo their.
It does run a little warm, but I just changed to a 22T pinion so we'll see if it lowers the temp any. |
The 9xl 4s combo should be fine in the the erevo.
You could go with a 60mm medusa 2000kv motor in your buggy. On 4s it should have similar performance to the 9xl, while running a bit cooler and possibly adding a little runtime. |

I'm running a 9XL on 4s in my E-Revo and it works like a champ. Currently geared 24/65. |
Question. Are the finned can Fieago 9xl motors still avaiable? If so where?
|
Bah, you dont want those things- the fins dont make difference to a motor that is on the verge of meltdown all the time, and there is no way to hold them together with a clamp, short of making your own one. Standard smooth can 9XL and RCM clamp is much better, maybe with a little thermal grease added between them.
|
i can only find 8xl's
i have a 8xl finned can that needs a rotor if your interested |
+1 for the Medusa, a little more money but runs much cooler than Feigao motors. Or if your not in a huge hurry wait a coupke weeks and see if the CC Neu designed motors are out yet, price should be comparable to a Medusa, possibly lower.

Where can I get a medusa 2000kv 60mm v2? Who has them in stock?
|
direct from the manufacturer would be the best bet, i dont think mike has them in stock
|
I havent found them anywhere on the web other than direct from the manfacture. Anyone know?
|
The 2000 is out of stock at medusa. However they have th 1500 version. How do they compare?
|
It will be 25% slower on the same voltage.
|
hey guy's i saw your topic and i have a question... im looking for the 600xl 1700kv align t-rex motor could it be a good motor for a e-revo on 4 cell?????

Also what about the Medusa heatsink version of the 2000kv motor, any performance differance adding the heatsink? or is it just a larger dia you have to have clearance for? |
Never ran titans, couldnt tell ya- but I would guess if the rpms were the same (simple bit of maths to do to figure that out), then you might get similar speed, but with much more torque.
As for the Align 600XL, those that have used them like them, but they dont compare to a normal inrunner in terms of temps and responsiveness. 1700kv on 4s lipo wouldnt be very quick at all.... |

Mine ran hot in the monster, around 180, so I ditched it. Being in Canada though, you would probably be fine. Ambient in Houston right now stays in the high 90's and above. I sold my align to sleebusjones on here to use in his buggy, but I think he may be selling it if you were interested. He had heat issues as well. It's just too much of an oven down here! |
