Time to re-think my revos

So I sold the slipperential revo, and am wondering what to do with the other two. One currently has a full tekno conversion on it, and the other has the tranny locked in 2nd.

I am thinking that I will buy an erevo chassis and related parts, and convert the tekno revo to an erevo. I have a spare 1515 1.5d and a pair of trakpower lipos. Most likely use a MMM with this combo. I also have a set of hybrid diffs for this truck. The erevo tranny is basically identical to the new emaxx tranny, so I have one of those too. I figure that it will cost about 75 bucks, getting all the parts from an ebay chop shop...

Now the other revo is brand new, I built it from spares I had laying around. I plan to make a slayer out of it. So I will have to wait until the parts are released, or people start parting them out. I have a hacker c50 13l in this one, and will run it with a quark 125b and 5s lipo.

So whatcha guys think?

brushlessboy16 07.30.2008 11:05 PM

...you have a spare 1515.. shouldnt you be happy now :D?

trev3813 07.30.2008 11:11 PM

uh, you should give me a revo =D

Arct1k 07.30.2008 11:17 PM

They both sound cool projects however i have a different suggestion:

The hybrid - e-revo slayer with the differential...

The ultimate combo - E-revo chassis, differential with slayer arms - Tada

JThiessen 07.30.2008 11:21 PM

I cant believe you got rid of the slipperential. That in itself is looking to be as hard to get as a strobe....

E-Revonut 07.30.2008 11:31 PM

You have way to many extra parts and pieces laying around, especially motors! I think you have the right idea with your plan. I sold off a G2R to get the E-Revo and am planning on top notch parts for it.

I have my reasons. I actually think that a custom made 1/8 buggy center diff that could fit inside a new emaxx tranny would be superior. It would allow for better gear reduction, and sealed internals. They could be greased for better wear and high rpm use. That tranny coupled with an erevo chassis is what I am going to do.

I figured that the stock revo diffs would not have any issues with the slayer. The wheel size and weight is much less than a revo, so less strain on the diffs. That revo tranny that is locked in 2nd gear has a traxxas center diff in it. I will most likely make a 6 spider setup for it too. The stock 4 gear revo center diff just does not look up to the task. It may work fine in the slayer though, due to the afore mentioned lack of strain...

I have an revo 2.5 roller and I was thinking about what it would take to convert it to an e-revo and if it would be worth it or just to get the tekno kit.. is the e-revo more like a 2.5 or a 3.3?

TDC57 07.31.2008 07:30 PM

Sounds like another GREAT project / projects!, I'm looking forward to seeing the slayer!, I checked E-Bay and only one part showed up for it.. sorry..

I'll keep an eye out for any new parts I find and shoot you out a PM..

So lets see something now just for fun! / Your current / ongoing project are the following (?)
• Slash
• 4-Tec
• hyper 8
• Slayer
• E-Revo

That’s five ongoing projects that I'm aware of, (Daaamn / Hooray!) you sooo much worse than me.. LOL.LOL….:na:

Add to that list the following:

Aftershock
BPP Racebomb
BPP Torpedo
FLM Savage
Hyper ST (hyper8 is done for the moment)
3 different boats...
Thundertech chassis pede
Rustler vxl
X-factor (needs rear steering)
TC3
TT-01
M-03
Stretched chassis Jato
Ofna GTP (almost done, just need to build a decent battery tray...)

I have around 10 more mt r/cs that are useable, but will most likely be re-done soon. About the only rcs that I have not messed with are the new emaxx, hv savage, and an old 2wd emaxx. Oh, and I finished the slash, need to update that thread with some pics...

wow linc, are the ALL going to be brushless?

magman 07.31.2008 08:17 PM

Linc...how do you possibly keep track of all you projects and all their respective parts?

Yep, most of the larger stuff is 4-5s lipo powered and a few are 8-10s. I have 9 MM, 2 125b, a MMM, 2 hv85, a gp 60hv, and a turnigy hv esc. The smaller scale stuff runs sidewinders, a couple quark 65s and a few novak setups. No nitro left...

I have a 600sqft room, a bunch of shelves and boxes (the large priority mail boxes are handy, and free..). I have some pegboard for NIP parts. I usually try to get a feel for the vehicle, then order parts. That usually takes a few weeks. When I get the parts they go in the box, and then I come back to it when i feel like it. I go thru stages, sometimes I like nitro conversions, sometimes I like 10th electric. Recently work has kept me very busy, so I have been buying stuff from local guys and re-selling it.

Most of the time I have everything in my head, part numbers and all...

magman 07.31.2008 09:12 PM

Seems that you could do RC full time...:mdr: Play all day and no work...nice thought, but, it doesn't pay the bills.

If you buy lots of rc stuff, and then part it out, you can make a decent amount of money.

Rcwaffle is a bad example of this. Now Dr350z is a good one. I bought a set of buggy badlands from him, all 4 on wheels. Paid about 15 shipped. One of them has some damage. He said he would give me a partial refund!!! Good guy, and fast email reply, less than 6 hours...

I like to buy local guys stuff and sell it here and some other forums. It helps pay for my toys!

magman 07.31.2008 09:21 PM

I work crazy hours in the summer to save $ for winter time AND to have extra $ for my toys! It seems the older I get, the more expensive the toys get, so you really never have ENOUGH money for the toys!

Very true. I have tried to keep a lower spending limit on r/c stuff, but no luck really. I bet that I spend 500 a month on rc...

brushlessboy16 07.31.2008 10:28 PM

ill be lucky to spend that much in a year.... need to find a job

Yeah, but you are young. Just remember that if you put your time in and work hard (and smart) that you will be able to enjoy the "fruits" later on in life. "Fruits" being money, not strange men...

BrianG 07.31.2008 10:58 PM

What if he likes strange men? Can he have those fruits too? Just asking...

Wow, the voice of reason steps in... How are you Brian?

suicideneil 08.01.2008 01:36 PM

He's a fruit.

Sometimes I think it would be nice to have a few Rcs to play with or work on, but In my heart ( of stone ) I know I could only give my love to one vehicle, so all my spare dosh goes into making that as good as it can be.

TexasSP 08.01.2008 03:55 PM

There is a lot to be said for only owning one rc for sure. I think if I head linc's collection I would get a headache just thinking about them. No offense of course linc!

I am in no rush to finish any particular one, so it does not bother me. I only have so many because I have more time to buy than I do have to build... Vicous Circle!!!
