Tire Problems

1 Attachment(s)
Man. This is the second tire that has come apart on me. I want to know if someone else is having this problem. What can I do to stop this? Any suggestions on a new tire.

Nick 10.16.2005 07:03 PM

Try Serums trick, placing duck-tape around the inside of the tyre.

When replacing the tyres try to remove as much of the wheel paint as possible as gluing the tyre onto it isn't very effective as the paint breaks away.

Get some hard compound tyres. :)

Basketti 10.16.2005 07:04 PM

is it because it is balloning? when you get a new tyre i would turn the tyre inside out and put a layer or 2 of duct tape on the inside of the tyre, that should stop it happening. What tyres are those?

coolhandcountry 10.16.2005 07:10 PM

They are revo sport traxx. Mounted on a 40 series rim.
I thought about he tape trick. I have them mounted so it is kind of hard to do.

Any suggestions on other tires. I think I going to change up. I was thinking bowties crime fighters or something. Like to stay 40 series.

rchippie 10.16.2005 08:42 PM

Cool if you race you will absolutly love the crime fighters. I also have some panther pythons mounted on 40 series rims that are great.

coolhandcountry 10.16.2005 08:59 PM

I don't race there hippie. I do like to go fast and handle good.

RC-Monster Mike 10.16.2005 09:48 PM

I like the pythons myself! Along ith bowties and crime fighters.

coolhandcountry 10.16.2005 09:51 PM

What do you have in a 40 series mike? like to have some rims to. The cheyennes seem to be good.

Is this the second tire of the same model? If so, did you purchase both tires from the same place at the same time?

Do you drive over broken glass and/or hot coals, frequently?

And finally, how friggin' fast are you going? :D

Just seems odd that two tires have come apart (I'm assuming the other tire did the same thing).

Serum 10.18.2005 12:38 PM

Perhaps it's the tight fit of the tires? those are not original 40 series right?

heres what happens to the original savage tires.. (made from poop if you ask me..)

Dafni 10.18.2005 03:34 PM

Thin-ish MT rubbers like to rip when the foams get wet.

Yep, those Savy tires are very soft, Serum. I just had to remember your "faked" pic of the ballooning tire.... Man, that one would have been a healty slap inna face

coolhandcountry 10.18.2005 06:16 PM

My first tire blew out on my maxx with a 7xl. Had it geared with enough cells to run about 60mph. I am not sure what I geared to run now. It blew out in the video posted under extra long emaxx. It is at the end of the video. hard to see. I was in the donut. The tires where bought same place different times. the last one never broke the bead like serum. It ripped and left the bead.

Basketti 10.18.2005 11:54 PM

you guys are so rough lol. i've never ripped a tyre, and i've balloned the stock savage tyres alot with my savage but never managed to rip it lol

coolhandcountry 10.19.2005 06:05 PM

We are not rough. You just to easy on your truck. :D Can I borrow it for a couple days. I treat it like it was mine. LOL

Basketti 10.19.2005 06:09 PM

HAHAHA wat would i get back? lol half a body? lol

Serum 10.19.2005 06:24 PM

First we gear it up a tooth or two.. and have the tires balloon something like this;

http://www.serum.demon.nl/all/baloooooon.jpg

Nick 10.19.2005 06:54 PM

Woho! Those things could keep an entire city floating! 9, 12 inches diamiter?

Basketti 10.19.2005 06:54 PM

LOL!! thats looks cool haha. what did you do to them? inflate them?

coolhandcountry 10.19.2005 08:40 PM

That almost looked like my tires on the ground. :D It is amazing how much rubber will stretch.

crazyjr 10.19.2005 09:35 PM

Hey Coolhand. could you give me a link to the video you were talking about, i can't find it.

coolhandcountry 10.19.2005 09:42 PM

Sure can crazy.
http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=66597

It swelled a little in the video. It was nothing like the 7xl geared up.

You know what would really be cool. Put a set of jumbo kongs on it and see it they touch when stretched and balooned.

crazyjr 10.19.2005 09:51 PM

Site is not working at this time, but i will see it as soon as possible.

Thanks Coolhand

coolhandcountry 10.19.2005 09:56 PM

I have a pic up of part of it.

crazyjr 10.19.2005 10:09 PM

I know what happened and why i couldn't find the thread. I used emaxx instead of gmaxx.

cool pic, hope to see vid soon.

squeeforever 10.19.2005 10:33 PM

serum, what program did you use to edit that picture :p

coolhandcountry 10.31.2005 10:03 PM

Well I did it again. I have tore another tire apart. The bead seem to stay on the tire this time. I need another set of tires. The crime fighters should work. 40 series to.

squeeforever 10.31.2005 10:08 PM

tell me how you like them. thats what i plan on getting for racing.

coolhandcountry 10.31.2005 10:16 PM

I sure can squee. I won't be able to tell you how they do in race conditions though. I will tell you what I think.

squeeforever 10.31.2005 10:40 PM

i would just like to know how they do on hard packed dirt surfaces as well as hardpacked with a little loose dirt on top.

The crime fighter tire is the shizzle :L: . The tire works on blue groove, loamy, & wet conditions. It seems to work were ever you use it. But the stock foams are the usual proline white foams. Most people change them to either racer's edge, or trinity foams and they trim them a little..

coolhandcountry 11.02.2005 12:05 PM

I am going to get me a set of crime fighters 40 series. I want to know how you do the duct tape thingy trick. Is it flip tire inside out. Wrap two times and put back right. I seen it makes a bigg difference. Will this make the tire stiffer as well. What happens if I put three wraps or one wrap?

Basketti 11.02.2005 05:30 PM

the tape is so the tyre wont ballon. so i think just one wrap would be ok, just aslong as you make sure its stuck to the tyre good.

Gustav 11.02.2005 06:25 PM

I think 2 layers, mine still balloon a little with 2 layers(maxx sized).more might effect the tyre's ability to conform to the surface so i stick with 2.Once you turned it inside out,put the foam inside, and try to finish where you started so you don't inbalance the tyre.

I think 2 would be good with 40 series, maxx sized balloon a little more anyway.

Serum 11.02.2005 06:32 PM

I posted a few movies of tires, one with and one without tape.

It works like a charm

If you go to rcpics and do a search for serum, they will show up.

coolhandcountry 11.02.2005 07:27 PM

I have seen them serum. That is why I want to do them. May help with tires coming apart. How many wraps did you use serum. One or two.

squeeforever 11.02.2005 10:00 PM

i think he used 2.

rchippie 11.02.2005 11:22 PM

Coolhand if you go to your local uhaul store you can buy 1-1/5 or 2in wide packing tape. It has strands of fiberglass in it, it will be much stronger than duct tape. If i was to do this to my tires this is the only tape i would use . Its super strong.

coolhandcountry 11.30.2005 11:04 AM

I got the crime fighters 40 series. I put the duct tape on them. I am not happy with them. I love that they don't balloon. I just think the traction could be better. If i go along and take every other tread off couldthat help any.

crazyjr 11.30.2005 11:22 AM

Doubt it. less spikes, less traction

Batfish 11.30.2005 12:35 PM

Crimefighters are a great tire for most track conditions, but I'd go with more of a spike for bashing. I have the Crimefighters on my MGT and they're much better than the TRC Paqman spike-type tires on the track, but the TRC tires are better in my yard.
