RC related run ins with the Police, good or bad
I searched for something like this with no luck. So here is a place to share any RC related run ins with the police, good or bad.
My first experience with the cops involving RC was good. Last winter I was running my G2R in an empty Walmart parking lot when a local cop came up to me and offered to radar it for me. I def thought that was pretty cool of him. Yesterday I had my second experience. Although it turned out just fine I would classify it as a bad experience. I was running my crt.5 in my apartment parking lot, I have been running in this lot since I got started in RC. I was asked not to run the nitros in the evening when I had them but they're all gone! Anyways I had went off into the yard and turned to come back, I lost sight for a minute so I let off. It had come back up the hill I had went down but was way off and hit a bump that sent it into a little tumble and it stopped when the tire bumped into the side of a car. The guys alarm went off and he ran out. I walked over and there was no scrathes, dents, or anything except a spot where the dust was wiped off. He started yelling and swearing at me, pushed me, all while I was trying to apologize. Then he went to far and knocked my DX3R out of my hand, pushed me, and threatened to knock me out. I told him to go for it, it'll be the biggest mistake of your life! He asked would do and I told him I'd call the cops. He said go for it, why don't you call them right now, so I did. When the cop got here he realized the other guy had a cocky and bad attitude, that I was telling the truth that he pushed me, and that there was no damage to his car. The manager of the apartment complex had even come over and said that I have permission to run in the parking lot anytime I want. So although I had to call the cops on bad terms it turned out to work against the guy pretty much as he proved he was nothing but an A**hole to the cop. Everyone else feel free to post your stories! I'd love to read about them, especially the good ones. |
While walking to an open parking lot with my "black radar gun" we got stopped by a cop because sombody filed a complaint saying two guys had a gun of somesort in their hands. We showed it to her and she left right off the bat because she knew what it was. Kinda funny if you ask me...

Just sparay it on his car late at night. Heavy lines, one per panel should do the trick. When he tries to wash it off it will take all the paint with it... Great stuff, and the spary can is great to write an "choice" words or phrases that you may come up with. |

i want some aircraft remover... :D
write loser on his trunk... then it will make you laugh when ever you see him driving away... |
I've never hd an RC-related run in with the police. I only really drive on the street in front of my house, and a place called fiesta island, which is pretty closed off and theres not many people around. I could see how somebody could think a remote was a gun or something though, especially with 2.4ghz systems; no real antenna.

I once had a run in with the cops when i was into nitro and it was good. I was out driving my Revo one Saturday afternoon at our 5 acre park and this guy in my neighborhood came out after about 10 minutes and told me to shut that F**king thing off because the noise was driving him crazy. So of course i didn't listen and he went home. About 15 minutes after that the cops showed up with this a**hole and after calmly talking to the cops and showing them what i was doing they said that is was doing nothing wrong and i was doing it within resonable hours and not above the noise ordinance laws. Well of course my neighbor got really mad and left to his house. The cops stayed and talked for a short while and clocked my Revo which was cool and just asked me some general questions. Well just as they were getting ready to leave the a**hole neighbor opened his garage door and took off on his crazy loud Harley. BTW i have never complained about how loud his bike is. But the best part is when he took off the cops just looked at me smiled and quickly took off after him. Well come to find out later they pulled him over and cited him running straight pipes and gave him as ear full for waisting there time on a guy with an RC. What a hypocrite huh?

All i have had for runins, was a few radar checks but no comments, and one time where a neighbor was worried i had a bomb on the car  I guess he had just watched Dead Pool, That was cleared up as quick as i took the body off, so no foul |

what wasnt he on

Like i said, I think he was watching Dead Pool. You remember the rc car bomb?
In my opinion, the greatest piece of rc car footage ever in a major film |
E-Revonut: It's obvious that you weren't at fault in any of those situations. If you were, you'd be at the station in no time. :oh:
I don't know if this counts, but, on one of my family vacations I decided to bring my R/C. This is back when I used NiMH packs. I had it in a backpack. The backpack went through the X-ray and one of the guards starts yelling: "Bag check! Bag check!". So I had to go over and open it up and show them it was a battery pack and not a stick of dynamite! |
Mine have always been good. Some sit and watch, some just nod and move on.
E-revonut, I think you handled it best. I guy I worked with used to tell me "sometimes you can call a person an SOB without calling them an SOB". Good advice in my opinion. Once you set yourself as an a-hole in the view of other people, the image is hard to remove. You apt mgr and the cops both know, and I am sure it will only be to his detriment. |
I bet everyone was standing back too when you opened your bag.
My friends and I have hit a few cars before and thankfully the owners haven't been around to see it. Playing cat and mouse my friend was too busy watching my car (the mouse) and went WOT under fairly low van with his stampy. The stampy ended up wedged way up under the car. It was rather entertaining watching him try to get it back. Also running in dirt car parks you know you are getting too close to the cars when you hear rock bouncing off the paint work. Someone posted the story a while back about the cops turning up on him. I laughed so hard when I read it. |
I just watched that dead pool r/c bomb video and its was pretty neat.

here is a link to the scene, and I will say RC has come a long way in 20 yrs and that was some kick ass Rc driving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbsmjoRlUzo |
Nothing too exciting. Warehouse parking lot at 2 am after/near work doin speed runs. Some truck drove by, then a cop lookin like he was following him, then he saw us. Pulled in and here we are holding this stupid hot wheels radar gun in the spotlight. Asked us if we worked there, said no, over there and the cop hauled ass out of there to continue on that truck.

Damn!!! Those were some crazy driving skills. To be able to drive a real car and a RC with a stick radio is amazing! It is funny seeing those kids play with the old school gold tub rc10 and magnum radio because i used to have both those back in the day as i'm sure many of us on here did too. Man am i getting old. |
That guy did have some pretty good driving skills. Only spinned out once. Neat thing.
|
And the filming was great too. If only all the youtube rc videos had that good of filming. ;)
