Should we elect new Moderators?

With all the recent events concerning threads closing, i was wondering what "the people's" thoughts were into electing or selecting New moderators for the various Sub-forums.

like in this forum
-Serum, Batfish, Dafni, coolhandcountry, squeeforever

the "brushless forum"
-coolhandcountry, Serum, Batfish, Dafni, squeeforever

The "General Electric forum"
-Serum, Dafni, Batfish, coolhandcountry, squeeforever

the "General nitro forum"
-Serum, Dafni, Batfish, coolhandcountry, squeeforever

Thes 5 guys are the moderators of ALL subforums

Not saying that they dont deserve the position, just think more active members should be "the enforcers":na:

That list doesn't look right
Where's BrianG?
And is squeeforever even around anymore?

What's_nitro? 08.03.2008 10:06 PM

I vote for Lutach and GriffinRU in the brushless forum! :yipi:

I'm not suggesting a mutiny either, just more moderators.

i beleive he is an admin, hes higher up
:D

lincpimp 08.03.2008 10:11 PM

Sounds a bit like Mutiny.

I would not push the for sale topic too much. This is mainly a support forum for Mike's store. The fact he lets us post stuff for sale is more of a privledge than a right. I feel the general opinions of the forum members have been adequately voiced. If he determined that a for sale fourm is a good idea he will add it. No need to beat a dead horse...

trev3813 08.03.2008 10:12 PM

ah ben, its because i don't have the knowledge of you, IM NOT WORTY:neutral:

Takedown 08.03.2008 10:19 PM

I think RCM is run pretty well and new mods along with all that other stuff is just not needed right now...

Maybe brushlessboy is just worried that BrianG is overworked as I hven't seen anyone else crack the whip in a long time :whip:

I missed the request for the for sale forum, oh well, it sucks getting old :rules:

Brian has been like robocop lately

azjc 08.03.2008 10:34 PM

I voted no, mainly due to I don't feel its needed it has been stated before the forums members do a good job of self moderating...if somebody has a point to argue I would listen though......

you dont show up as a moderator at the bottom of the page

BrianG 08.03.2008 10:43 PM

I know. That's because I'm still an assistant moderator. Seriously, it's probably just some list that has to be manually updated or something and just never was. No biggie really.

brushlessboy16 08.03.2008 11:03 PM

alrighty, *he has spoken* (cue gong sound)

TruckBasher 08.03.2008 11:28 PM

I voted no for the reason that its a bit early to say that we need new ones or additional for that matter. Mods usually do things at the back end. Also for the reason that the mods are there to keep Mike's paid web hosting to promote RCM and have a good community. I guess what I'm saying is that having more and more mods might cause conflict of interest that may lead to the removal of this website (worse case).

I agree with Linc, for sale forum section is pushing too much..its privilege and were lucky to be even allowed to post specially this forum was built for Mike's business

BL_RV0 08.03.2008 11:42 PM

Yeah, I think we should have an election of who the moderators should be. I'm not saying we have to boot the "old" mods, but just get some new blood in there. Here's the criteria I think the contestants should meet: member for 6 months or over, already be or have been a moderator on a different forum, and be able to log in daily. Additions?

crazyjr 08.03.2008 11:44 PM

I voted no, because i been around for a real long time (I think i was #256 but not sure) and Never have i seen a better place to talk and BS. Don't forget Serum, At 10,000 posts, he is always around to mod and hijack

jayjay283 08.03.2008 11:46 PM

Why ? The mods are cool here, never messed with me. I try and be good and not make their job harder. I dont see any strangeness or anarchy that needs to be rectified. We are all pretty mellow here.... Most times

brushlessboy16 08.03.2008 11:48 PM

alright guys i see your point and agree

..brianG is still robocop

BL_RV0 08.03.2008 11:54 PM

"Well, we're doing a lot better than the guy from the opening scene of robocop!" -Family Guy

E-Revonut 08.04.2008 12:02 AM

I would say that this is an excellent forum as is. I feel that there could be a few minor things to help it though. First I don't know if this exists or not but an easy way to find the moderators such as under members have a sub category for moderators and admin. Awhile back there was some spam crap on here and I had a hard time remembering the names of and moderators to remove the crap from our beloved forum. I don't remember who I came up with but I think it was BrianG or Serum, but the problem was quickly solved once I came up with a name. Now for the whole FS issue. I'm guilty of posting for sale on here and I've bought from here and glad that I was able to buy my crt.5 and mmm here. I beleive that if it is going to be allowed at all that there should be a for sale section with sub sections for vehicles, batteries/chargers, motors/esc, other electronics OR it shouldn't be allowed at all. I felt bad cluttering the forum with a fs thread but felt that the people that have helped me the most should have first dibs at something I'm not going to use anymore.

No additional moderators and no new ones unless someone wants to give up their position.

crazyjr 08.04.2008 12:09 AM

I just hit the report button for spam, whoever gets it eliminates it

TDC57 08.04.2008 12:41 AM

My two cents:

I think we have good thing going and wouldn’t have it any other way, I believe we all do a good job in assistance moderators on our threads and others. Brian G and the rest of the GANG really give us the opportunity to speak our minds, have fun and for the most part leave us alone to use Mikes site as we see fit.

Just go Play 08.04.2008 01:07 AM

Over the last 15 years I have bounced around many different forums and chat rooms. In that amount of time this is only the second that I've come across that balances interesting and intelligent members, a wealth of accessible knowledge, and completely irrelevant humor. Most any topic under the sun can and has been discussed here and there are so few negative and abusive posts compared to most other forums it's rare when a mod is even required.

It's always been my opinion that the best moderators or admins are the ones that you seldom realize are there at all. This is just an indication that they are doing their jobs so good that your not even aware of it.

This is just my opinion though so...

TexasSP 08.04.2008 01:13 AM

I voted no because as I said in another post, for the most part this forum self moderates pretty well. I think BrianG does a fine job and also very nicely has answered my questions I had. The other problem is forums can easily be over-moderated as well......(ahem, TRAXXAS, cough)

The other thing is that I don't think it's up to us to elect new mods, it is at Mikes prerogative and should be left that way.

What's_nitro? 08.04.2008 01:18 AM

The thing with the Traxxas forum is that there are sooo many more younger (read: sub-teenage) members there. So I wouldn't blame them for what could be considered "over-moderation".

squeeforever 08.04.2008 01:50 AM

Hey guys. Its been a while, I know. Just been busy with school and so on. New car has been keeping me pretty busy and I've had to put RC on the back burner so to speak. I'm gonna make more of an effort to get on here more often for sure.

I might not be the right person though. I'm into High Voltage and crazy power and I don't think I fit the bill. Thanks for giving me such credit though. I think lincpimp master should fit that category .

Edit: I forgot about crazyjr, shame on me .

Better not give me any more power than I already have, it might go to my head...

Everyones avatar would be much funnier if I had control over them...

That last senstence pretty much killed any chances I ever have of being a Mod...
