My motor is toast already... :(

http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...0804082005.jpg

news flash....

just got the warhead together...
pretty sure i got screwed over on the 8xl ran good for the first few seconds.... then went south.

I set the truck on my floor, and fired it up-calibrated my MM, everything was good.
forgot reverse stength.... did a frontflip on my floor, WOOHOO

then shut it down, took it outside on our concrete patio.. started up just fine... went off throttle just enough to move then it locked... then noticed that the rotor had almost a full centimeter of play...

Pretty sure i got effed over in this dea.

and now im out of money so this project is postponed untill further notice.

i dont know if it was my fault or not, the motor wasnt even above ambient temp when it happpened...

now my motor doesnt spin at all and the rotor sticks out both ends equally...:no::no:

BrianG 08.04.2008 08:20 PM

Wow, some people have all the luck. Sorry to hear about your misfortune! Although, that 1cm of play would've worried me from the get-go. Did you get the motor used, or from a store (looks used). Either way, I'd contact whoever you got it from because any motor should last longer than a few seconds.

MTBikerTim 08.04.2008 08:39 PM

Sounds like the magnet shattered doesn't it. Unlucky.

brushlessboy16 08.04.2008 08:50 PM

Here goes my good dead for the year... PM me your addy and I will drop the finned can motor I have in the mail. It says that it is an 8xl, but always seemed more like a 7xl to me. No one else wants it, so it seems like you shall be the new owner. Just keep this in mind if I ever buy something from you:rules:

Be careful with the gearing you start with... Go low for the first run, and keep an eye on temps...

trev3813 08.04.2008 09:00 PM

ah awesome, linc, i was about to send him 50 buxs for a new motor. thanks i'll keep my money now lol

I forgot to pay you for that, didn't I... I have the funds now if it is still available...

lincpimp 08.04.2008 09:28 PM

To everyone in last few posts: thanks for the kind words. I really feel bad for BB16, spend all his money on the motor and it cooks... He seems like a good kid, and has a real passion for the hobby. No one else wanted the motor, and I got it for a good deal too. So I can pass the good will along...

I was not aware that the itching I had was your fault. In that case you are definately paying for the movie next time...

Nephre 08.05.2008 04:40 AM

Wow, Linc, you are really what we in sweden call a "hedersknyffel" (it basicly means "one hell of a guy"). Good to see that there´s still some decent guys around

83gt 08.05.2008 07:07 AM

I shattered an 8xl rotor in similar fashion. Too hard from brake to reverse, backflip action, and the rotor shattered. It may or may not have had an issue when you got it. Bummer.

Hope the 8xl from Linc fixes you up. That's awful nice of you Linc, where are you when I blow all my stuff up?! lol.

Nope, the 9xl is toast as well though. Death by overheating. I feel I am done with feigao's. I can't seem to make one last long enough to be worth it. I will be giving medusa a shot and see how that works out, and then the castle built neu when it shows up on the shelves.

Thanks for the kind words, if you had not defined "hedersknyffel" I may have wondered if you were calling me a bad name...

You guys must be hard on them, or just get them really hot (overgeared). I have never had a feigao go over 170 and never lost a magnet.

Maybe linc knows how to gear properly...

suicideneil 08.05.2008 06:09 PM

He's got enough experience (with motors)...

Jason that motor was nice!:oh:

as long as the magnets arent shattered, can i somehow reattach them to the shaft?

You can jb weld the magnets back on, but you must have them lined up correctly to each other... I have not done this, but others here have...

Something like that. Start a thread with that title and post pics... Others will chime in with info...

bl-is-future 08.06.2008 09:17 AM

Just want to know let everyone know that the 8xl came from me and i am mending things with brushlessboy. I feel really bad, i did not know the motor would break or what ever happened so i am giving him some stuff to fix this problem.

Linc you are the man, i would have given a different motor if i had one but i dont.
But like i said the motor came from me and i intend to mend things because i am not one of those bad scammers that will screw people.

brushlessboy16 08.06.2008 09:22 AM

its my luck, the motor ran when i got it so its not your fault :D
higher beings just dont like seeing me with brushless motor ;)

in addition, the shocks that you sent me were pristine, no leaking, no binding :D :yipi:
