new layout for 3905 users...

Was browsing FLMs site and saw this

http://www.fastlanemachine.com/Publi...otor-mount.jpg

NEW! 3905 BL Tranny Adapter FLM10010

Machined from billet 6061 aluminum
Mounts brushless motor low and to the side
Balances out chassis to allow the use of 1 larger battery
Works only with the new Emaxx tranny

i guess this sticks the motor way off down low in one battery tray almost and for you to run one big pack in the other tray which i believe is what most would prefer anyways.

TexasSP 08.11.2008 01:03 AM

I saw that somewhere a while back but haven't seen anyone stock it.

rootar 08.11.2008 07:24 AM

id really like to see it on a truck, ive been wanting to get a MT because the MT class at our track is sad half never even finish the race, (all nitro related problems lol), but really just something to race in that class, and something to tool around with my buddy who has a 3906.

itd also be a good excuse to another 5s 5000 pack (that i could also use in my buggy) but id go cheapo on the emaxx and maybe even keep it brushed and use a 700HO brushed motor from kershaw designs on 5s with a MM, i think itd be a great basher setup for 35ish. and really cheap as all id have to buy is the truck, this mount, and a $30 motor, i have everything else.

JerryF504 08.11.2008 09:15 AM

I need that. I run a 5s pack on one side so it jumps a little off sometimes. I wish someone would come out with an aluminium trans case for the 3905, so I could have some peace of mind.

rootar 08.11.2008 09:32 AM

Jerry do you have a picture with your setup with the 5s pack on one side? what motor and gearing you running with it?

I have a pic on my other computer, I'll post it for you a little later. I'm running a Feigao 10XL right now with 20/58 gearing. I also have one of the Hobbycity 9XLs that runs surprisingly well on 5s but I mostly run the 10XL because sometimes I run 6s also.

suicideneil 08.11.2008 10:01 AM

That motor mount has been up on the FLM website for a couple months or more...

rootar 08.11.2008 11:28 AM

Neil i guess im slow or never caught it if it was previously posted. but does anyone have it? i cant find a pic of it on a truck anywhere.

JerryF504 08.11.2008 03:57 PM

Here is the pic of my E-Maxx with the 5s.

If the ESC is moved on to the battery tray, I can't imagine the weight balance being horribly off. And if you were to run a single servo on the motor/ESC side, that will help as well.

suicideneil 08.11.2008 04:50 PM

I've not seen anyone with that mount fitted- seems they prefer the central option over the lop-sided one.

rootar 08.11.2008 05:39 PM

yea i liked the idea because id rather just have one big pack to charge rather than (2) seperate ones

rc4x4nut 08.18.2008 11:54 AM

Has anyone used this mount yet? Mine just came in the mail and am debating if I will be using it or not. I could run a single 5s battery with the motor to the side or motor centrally mounted and run a 5s2p 10000 mah. Talk about some run time.

rootar 08.18.2008 06:14 PM

if you got yours in the mail mount it up with a motor and post some pics to show us where it puts the motor, and if it puts it anylower than the stock mount and how much lower.

rc4x4nut 08.18.2008 07:08 PM

Well I dont have a motor right now or myh camera. I but it moves the down about 5/8" and out 1/4". These would off the "passenger" side of the truck. I will try to get a camera and take comparison shots of the stock and the flm mounts. You would have to remove the battery bar retainer to make it work.

rootar 08.18.2008 10:29 PM

wow so it really does move it down low and really offset, sounds good cant wait to see some pics.

Here are some comparison pics

rootar 08.19.2008 12:38 AM

that looks good

hoober 08.19.2008 03:46 AM

I've been waiting for my mount for a month now and haven't got it yet. I had hoped it would put the motor right down into the bottom of the tray. Looks like I am in for disappointment.

I ordered it because the truck is off-balance in stock form and the two choices for mounting motor are both worse than the old e-maxx. One motor higher and one motor further away from center. I'll see how it goes and cut and weld if necessary.

rc4x4nut 08.19.2008 09:43 AM

Well actually I dont think its too bad. By not having the motor sitting at the bottom of the tray and further out it might actually equalize the weight of the lipo. Lets say a 5s PQ 5000 mah is 646 gr and a neu 1515 finned is 360 gr. With the way the battery sits in the tray, some of the weight is more centralized and with the motor a little higher and away from the tranny and the esc on the say side it should equalize the weight of the lipo. Plus you probably wouldnt want the motor sitting down in the tray as only the top half of the motor would be a lot cooler than the bottom.

suicideneil 08.19.2008 09:45 AM

Im wondering if the revo motor mount would fix the balance issue on the new emaxx. Assuming the tranny can be flipped around to face the rear, and there are no clearance issues, that might be a nice clean solution that gives better balance.

More mount pics, balance isn't half bad with 4S or 6S packs. Bigger packs and bigger motor is in order. LOL.

One thing I like is that all weight is low , one thing I don't like is that all weight is wide.

rootar 09.11.2008 07:04 PM

looks good, but i was thinking about what suicideneil said and what if you did use the revo mount but DONT flip the tranny, just move the radio box an go to a single servo which most do anyways, then youd have two packs low motor and servo up front and then that huge flat space in the middl behind the tranny for the rx and esc.....kinda defeats the purpose of this thread and the single battery idea but i just thinking out loud

suicideneil 09.11.2008 07:16 PM

Think away my good man, think away. If someone has an erevo and 3905, they could essily try it and see if it works, with motor facing the front or rear (whatever fits)....

hoober 09.11.2008 07:24 PM

The single blue revo mount looks like it'll put motor near where the flm one does.

The stock blue one looks like it may put the motor on center.

They both look like they can be made to fit if they don't bolt on.

The finned alumunum one doesn't look like it'll fit.

I don't think my trans is backwards , but I did buy it used.

rootar 09.11.2008 09:16 PM

hoober you would need the stock blue revo plate in conjunction with the finned alumnium piece and the motor would sit like this and then youd be able to use both battery trays agian..... here is a stupid paint drawing i whipped up (didnt feel like screwing with CS2) this is what i was thinking, and neil was saying that if your turned your tranny around (its right the way it is now) but if you turned it around youd have the same layout as a e-revo, but here is the dumb drawing of my idea....

hoober 09.12.2008 03:32 PM

Yes, that looks feasible. My deal was to use my existing 6S pack as is without taking it apart. There's nearly enough room in chassis to put the battery in the middle.

Where did you get that huge Mod 1 spur?

hoober 09.12.2008 05:38 PM

It's a Associated monster GT , I can't remember the brand (Kimbrough or Associated) I got them to convert the old e-maxx to mod 1. I don't know why it's yellow, lol.

I know it says black, but I think this is it. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFUA5
