BL buggy mock-up etc.
1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
Seems that I am sinking deeper into this brushless thing. Everything I see, I want to convert to brushless. Here is a mock-up of a sacker pro buggy acquired locally. I will use mech. brake. & BK warrior 9920 esc. |

You got that from Mr Construstor didn't you?
|
That buggy looks a bit like the Ofna 9.5 that I own, just I did a different conversion.
|
Hi crazyjr,
Yes, I bought the kit from Mr. Constructor. Very light. I hope it is durable though. Hi Dabid, I saw your buggy in the magazine. It's you right? Thanks for putting brushless into the mainstream. If you have pics of your conversion. Please do share. Regards, Joe Ling |
Well, the pics I have aren't all too much more special than the ones in the magazine, and that car is torn down right now awaiting some Twin Force battery trays to replace the cheesy AE cups.

LOVE!!! the lighting rebuild!!!!!
|
Looks like it uses a looooooooooooooong driveshaft.. dished the centerdiff as well or is a delrin spur on the centerdiff?
We need a new subforum for conversion Mike... |

Hi nbcaznmaster,
I live in Miri, on the island of Borneo, the opposite side to Kuala Lumpur which is in Peninsula Malaysia.:D Hi Serum, The conversion has no center diff, just a spur on a shaft. Mr. constructor is working on another version with a slipper clutch (maybe similar to the 1/10th electric buggy - guessing here). I am going to buy the slipper from him too. Regards, Joe Ling |
ask him to make a centerdiff! it would be more gentle on the drivetrain, and the driveability would be also better.
|
Yeah, this wheelbase begs for a centerdiff!

Hi,
Here is a preview pic of the work in progress motor bracket I am thinking of using for the buggy conversion. Basically, because I want to use the mechanical brake, I have to make an extension shaft so that the motor will not interfere with the rear brake disc. This complicates things a little. Regards, Joe Ling |

hmm, pic didn't turn up. Let's try again
|
that is a lot more manufacturing then the savage motor mount. looks good.
Are you going to be running a 2 speed? is that why you are going to use the mechanical break? and i sent you an email too. |
Hi,
Mechanical brake is just personal preference. Not evenn sure whether it is better or not. Regards, Joe Ling |

Some updates of this project. I have just received the motor mounts in pieces & done a loose fit to see if everything is ok. Here are some pics.

Great work Joeling!! you made it yourself? or was it made by mr constructor? good to see, you used a bearing to hold the long shaft..
|
hi Serum,
Thanks for your comments. I had a local machinist fabricate this for me based on my crude drawings. The bearing used is the type used in nitro engines. I figured that with the extension shaft, I need the extra support at the other end. This was done out of neccessity. I am using 15T pinion & 46T spur. I think this is too tall a gearing. I cannot seem to locate my 14T pinion. So I am trying to get some from Mike. I think I will switch to 13T while I wait for the 14T. What do you think ? Regards, Joe Ling |

Hi,
The conversion is nearly done. Still waiting for the battery straps (hint hint Mike) & body need to be painted & the cooling fan battery need to be attached. Regards, Joe Ling |
