what do i do for a brushless set up? i want to pull the 550 motors and put them on my emaxx for my roommate, the motors on it are burnt out.
What brushless motor, esc, and lipo's do i order?

A pair of 4s lipos wired in parallel would be a nice option, try the zippy 3700mah items. And a lipo charger, and power supply, and balancer. Try this handy FAQ:

what 6s battery's can I fit?
I really don't know where to start or how to figure out what motor and esc combo to use

if you want 6s 2 x 3s packs wired in series. I'm sure neils link would suggest some packs. Try and get yourself a Mamba Monster if you can and then a tekno neu 1y would be a pretty crazy setup.

what about a nice lipo charger?

Read that FAQ- 38v sounds like the maximum input voltage that the neu is rated for- most people will only actually use between 14-22v typically. My FAQ explains choosing a motor/esc/batts very well. For a drop-in system, the hvmaxx works well enough, or the MMM motor and esc combo when its released. Enjoy the read :intello:

I have the same setup as david in my maxx, but recently switched the MGM out for the MMM I had repaired. Either way it is an excellent setup. Plenty of power, plenty of speed, and enough torque to go anywhere you want. I am in process of my second revo build and will use the same setup as well.

Mine is setup to run roughly 45 mph which is plenty for bashing. I really don't understand why so many feel the need for hotter setups bashing a monster truck. Of course these same people with the hotter setups tend to run into more problems.

I agree with this setup - I think David and I were posting in each other's thread when we were planning the motor and batteries setup.

The TP packs are the perfect size for the E-Revo battery trays and are probably almost the largest you could fit in without the chassis bending from being squeezed in there. They still allow for air flow over the packs from the vents and I have not been able to temp them over 100-105 or so even after hard running. I wouldn't go any higher than 25mm with the battery packs.

And these packs have just as much power density as running 2 4S 3700 packs in parallel if you calculate it all out.

and it is great. I am running at a much taller 18/62 right now (~35mph) and it is a blast - will probably go up to 20 or 22 for a bit more speed.

I am running it with a v1 MMM that I have had no problems with yet at all.

I say if you are going from scratch in terms of buying new parts rather than re-using stuff from the toolbox to go with a 6S setup - it'll just run cooler. And, with the packs split up 3S and 3S you really don't have to worry about buying high voltage/powered charging equipment if you already have a decent lipo charger.

I am running 5350 mah flightpower packs and bashing around with mixed speeds I easily get 45 minutes of play time. Of course I have pause times where I am not running but still have yet to hit voltage cut off.

Yeah I don't have any Lipo's or a charger right now, I think I'll give those zippys a try, if nothing else they will be good to have as back up packs.

I want to get a nice charger, something that will let me charge larger packs in the future.

I won't deny I have been very pleased with the TP packs, but I keep hearing great things about these zippy's. For the price I may have to try a set of either those or these:

I have read in a thread about the differences between the Zippy-H and the Zippy-R, but I can't remember which people said were the newer stronger ones - for $120-$140 for two packs that is almost too good to believe if they are that good.

you have to be carefull on size of lipo's....those r's you linc to are to loong for a erevo by 10mm

hey, how do those traxxas battery terminals compare to the deans ultra?

Is there a rechargeable battery pack available or that can be fitted to the factory traxxas transmitter?

The TP packs at 160mm still have some room front to back. I actually had to move in the spacer to make sure they were snug.

well then I stand corrected......I was going by the fact that the erevo bays measure 160mm and the batts claim to be 170mm long thats a 3/8" differance

how do i tell which 1515 neu motor i need? people say 1y, i see some are using 2.5d,
what is the difference? Would I always have to run 6s? if i run 3s for longer run times will it all still work?

monster put together an order for me of all the parts I need.

Depends what your goal is specifically.

A speed machine on lower voltage would need the 1.5d, but woud tend to run warmer and push the batts more.

A speed machine on higher voltage would use a lower kv motor, to give much better temps and runtime to boot.

Normal basher would be fine with the 1y on 4s, then stepup to 5 or 6s for speed runs and freaky power.

As for voltage- I would never say use 3s lipo for an MT. With anything other than the fastest 1515 sized motor it wuold be slower than old people humping, and if you then stuck 4/5/6s to the same motor... hot hot hot.

If I only use 6s, whats the motor to shoot for? stupid fast!

I'll just buy a couple extra batts and a nice charger

Ive got the money to order the esc and motor... which motor am i shooting for? 2.5d? 1y? gah......

i'm buying an e-revo and i mainly drive on grass and pavement. i have a lot of space so i just want crazy speed.
im getting a MMM, Neu 1515/1y, and two Thunder Power 3s 5000mAh lipos.
That way, the motor will be spinning at 50,000RPM which i think is the MAXIMUM any Neu motor should run at, as its RPM limit is 60,000.

i should hopefully be able to get 55-60mph, and at least 20 minutes of running.
