FLM brushless savage x building
Hello,
In this topic i show my progress of the building of my HPI Savage X to electric conversion. I bought an almost new Savage X roller and this are the specs wich it has when it's finished: FLM brushless forward kit Brake and 2-speed used Mamba Monster Max ESC NEU 1515 2.5D motor LST shocks Proline Desert Rat body Proline Commando Beadlocks with Bow-tie 40 series wheeliebar FLM shocktowers Spectrum DX3-R transmitter (EU version) TrueRC 6s 5000Mah lipo's Maybe something else comes too on it but i want this as first:yes: Here some things i already got: LST aluminium shocks: http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/2691/img0383kf0.jpg Proline Beadlocks with Bow-tie 40 series tires: http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/7103/img0386yh0.jpg http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/5074/img0384zq3.jpg The body gets airbrushed like the example of the Proline Harddrive body, only the black on the back becomes a blocked flag and on the spoiler my name:yipi: http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/4...ardrivedb2.jpg http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/5...ddrive2fe3.jpg I post everytime new pics when something arrived and building pics will appear too... Greetz, Joram |
that's going to be a sweet truck I can't wait to see the body completed
|
Thx, my flm chassiskit has a delay, Addicted2rc has it shipped today so it arrives Monday as everyting goes right :) But then my scool begins.......
Well, that monday i'm free, i start at thuesday so i have a still 1 day to build.. Tomorrow the savage x arrives :) Greetz Joram |
I found this kit, is that a nice upgrade or not??because it is alloy...

joram i dont think 6s will fit in there with a neu 1515. i have a 5s with a 1515 with the spacers installed on the chassis and it is a perfect fit.
|
Is the motor too big then?? I prefer no spacers, i want the chassis as stiff as it can be...
Wich motor can i use without the spacer? with 5s/6s...? There are zo many NEU motors, 1515 , 1512 , y, d 1.5, 2.3 what does it all mean???? I want much power but not too much that is will destroy the diff's etc... And that gear set, is that something for the money? because it's alloy gears... Greetz, Joram |
you have to with any neu. The 1512 is just shorter not skinnier. 4s batts fit with no spacers, and def get the 1y if you do that. 5s batts fit with spacers and no strength is sacrificed because of it. 6s i am pretty wont fit at all but i will take some caliper measurements tonight and post em up for you so you can choose batteries accordingly.

Update:yipi:
Today my Savage X arrived and my Proline Desert Rat. The body is now going to be airbrushed...:mdr: Here some pcis of building with standard chassis... http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/1993/img0388qq1.jpg http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/3421/img0389ib0.jpg http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/9003/img0390hz2.jpg I go then on 4s lipo, power enough i think with the 1515 2.5d ??? I'm thinking of this gearing: 16/50 ?? Greetz, Joram |
if you are going 4s def go with the 1y it has more kv to spin faster and will have jsut as much torque. truck is looking good btw
|
Oké , than i take that motor :mdr:
Shocks are really great, they are very stiff, i got the hardest springs on it, you must press very well to lower it... :) Greetz, Joram |
that might not be a good thing for whoops. You want the susp. to be smooth and soft so it flexes but not so much it bottoms out. If it is too stiff it will fling the truck around making it hard to control
|
Yeah, i already fixed that, it's still stiff but you can press is, the comes still extra weight from new chassis and battery motor ect.. so then i can see what the dampening really is..
Greetz, Joram |
yep good plan
|
Will the spacers decrease the strenght of the chassis? i do prefer without spacers because everything will fit then nicer but with 5s i got a lot of more speed...
Can i get 70 km/h with a NEU 1515 Y and 4s TRUERC 5000Mah? and will 8000Mah fit? I love speed but also strenght for bashing.. Greetz, Joram |
Little update:
This is how everything is waiting on FLM kit :mdr: http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/4527/img0393kk0.jpg http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/6443/img0392hh5.jpg http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/645/img0395bz2.jpg Greetz, Joram |
no the spacers so not affect the strength AT ALL. On one side of the chassis there is spacers that go in every place a screw does. So the chassis has no WEAK points from not being secured.
|
UPDATE, chassis arrived:)

I email today about that... Greetz, Joram |
Looks good! What did you use in order to mount the LST shocks? Was it custom? Or did you buy a mounting kit from somewhere?
|
looks good joram. If you got it from mike he will hook you up. I was missing my servo plate brace when i got mine and i had one in a day. Mike is real good about that kind of stuff
|
also make sure you have a good servo or servo saver with those rims. They are heavy and strip servos out like butter. I wound up selling mine when i had them.
|
I used Team VTX shockmounts :p
I bought i by Addicted2rc, they have too very good service.. This servo have I bought: http://www.liquidrc.com/index.php?ma...ducts_id=15229 reetz, Joram |

|

MMM esc and NEU 1515 1Y motor on 5s 8000Mah TRUERC lipo's :) Greetz, Joram |
Looking good! I can't wait to see it finished. That wing looks pretty cool on there.
|
I bought something nice: Futaba 3PK SS :mdr:
Greetz, Joram |
very nice!
lets see how it is mounted to the truck! |
Here are the pics:
I have made a new servo/reciever mount becasue i didn't liked the one from FLM and i'm gonna use a 24.5kg strong Big-scale servo for steering:intello: http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/1737/img0736tt0.jpg http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/53/img0737jb5.jpg http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/5586/img0738wu8.jpg http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/2299/img0739vk6.jpg http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/6625/img0740fp0.jpg Greetz, Joram |

damn that is one baddass paint scheme you got going.
green and black. i like it. btw. where did you get the lst shocks? |
That is amazing, getting it running anytime soon?
|
I bought the LST shocks from a forummate here in the Netherlands..
I think it's ready in about 2 month:yipi: btw, it's my Birtday now:party: Greetz, Joram |
Happy birthday!!
|
Don't forget to take video, cant wait to see that thing running :). And yes happy bd!
|
I keep chewing up my diff gears I think it is when I hit the manual brake It stops very hard the truck flip over does any one know how to adjust the manual brake or is the some thing in my futaba Fasst I can adjust.
|
Just adjust the angle of the servo! Not totally 60 degrees but so that he brakes but not too hard. You can either select the speed of the servo so it doesn't brakes so directly and hard.
