Brushless Lipo Revo -> finished

nice piece of work from Werner Mayer:

some more datas:
Lehner 1930 with 8 windings
E-MAXX tranny with UE-Idlers (72/19)
full weight: 4533 Gramm.
batts: Graupner 3200Lipos

controller: selfbuild by the design of Jo Aichinger, SBL-Mega, 100A with Beta-Softwareversion 60.93 with car-mode --> works very good
within that jumbo-servo-case it gets enough cooling by a 40x40mm fan

the motor-mount-plate: the mount for the second motor was cut of, the gear-shild was modified by fibre-glass so it still covers the tranny ! very cool !!

how does it drive:

for me in the moment the nicest revo-conversion around..
(very clear, clean setup, modified motormotor, fiberglass motor-gear shield, ventilated case for custom-made controller, protected battery-box for lipos, protected on-off-switch in the custommade roll-over-bar)

i would have gone with the Prolite Plus (same weight as the Kokam3200, same performance powerwise, but 33% more capacity)

Dafni 10.24.2005 01:19 PM

Nice work, man. Respect to Werner!
This must be an awesome RC! Would love to see it in person!

Where do you guys live, exactly?

Good motor choice, btw.
My next Revo will have a 1950. And a centerdiff.;)

Will you/he race this truck?

DAF

Kraeuterbutter 10.24.2005 01:29 PM

oh.. its his truck, his idea, he build it, he drives it..
he has posted it in a forum where iam the moderator..

i like this very much (for example the good idea for Lipo-protection !)
and so i thought it should be shared with you too...

besides: i like your Revo of course too...
but this.. well.. i like it a little bit more.. ;) :D
(maybe because iam a Lehner-fan, a VERY big lipo-fan and also like to work with fiber-glass)

---------------------------

i hope your next revo becomes some reasonable batts:
i would vote for
4s3p Thunderpower Prolite with 6000mAh
more voltage than 12cells
far less weight
and nearly 2 times capacity !

Dafni 10.24.2005 01:36 PM

I will go with a 5S2P setup.

My Revo has changed alot since the last photo session.;)

Werners need a new body! Something that resembles the great work underneath!

Once again: Respect, Werner. Will he race it??

Cheers
DAF

coolhandcountry 10.24.2005 02:04 PM

that is a very clean setup indeed. I have to agree with dafni. A body to match the contents would be even more awesome. Thanks for sharing.

nbcaznmaster 10.24.2005 03:04 PM

Wow, another e-revo, and i still dont have one....

crazyjr 10.24.2005 05:23 PM

Woah, very nice. Parts are well placed and looks like the balance is excellent.

Serum 10.24.2005 05:50 PM

Hi Kraeuterbutter!

Nice to see you found your way to this forum!!

Kraeuterbutter, he is the pilot/beta brushless/electric user! he uses all kinds of setups in different trucks, I remember a movie of a RS4MT with a basic4200 and an airplane controller and loaded it with 10 2/3 cells. It was one very powerfull truck.

or a brushed powerfull setup in a buggy.. You converted quite some RC to electric, right!?

I saw this revo on another forum (maxxtraxx) and one thing got me wondering, and i think you have the answer; those graupner cells, are those the Kokam 20C cells?
That SBL-Mega, i tried finding it by their homepage, but is it possible to use more than 2 powerboars with 1 controllerboard?

MetalMan 10.24.2005 06:26 PM

Those Graupner cells do look like the Kokam 3200mah cells.

Tell Werner that he did an awesome job!

Kraeuterbutter 10.25.2005 08:33 AM

@Video:
http://www.wene.cybton.com/revo.wmv

unfortunatly i can´t watch it by myself.. iam here at a linux-computer -> no wmv-support *arghh*

@Serum:
yes.. have put some brushless and/or high-quality brushed motors in my cars..
but in the moment my focus is here:
http://www.kraeuterbutter.at/UMFC/4i...Acrobat10.jpeg

for the Graupner-cells: yes, these are the Kokam 3200 20C
(acutally they are more like 18C continouse-cells --> nevertheless:
peaks of 90A are possible for the cells --> at 4s like on that revo that means:
peaks of 4*3,2Volt*90A = 1150Watt are possible for the cells
continouse-power: 4*3,4*50A = 700Watt)

i personally prefer ThunderPowers new 15C-cells..
the Prolites 2100 PLUS
can handle the same currents like the Kokam3200 but has compared to the Kokam3200 more capacity at same weight (4200mAh (TP) vs. 3200mah (Kokam))

@Dafni: 5s2p --> good choise..
don know how you wana place the batts..
but 6s2p (with then reduced current and longer runtime) sounds even greater..

i run 3s2p Prolite Plus (and for more power: 4s2p Prolite) in my E-Maxx with hacker C40-10L...
its an very moderate setup.. for that realy light (my E-Maxx is now 2WD, so no front-diff, no front-axels, ...)

for the controller:
here the homepage: http://www.radetzki.info/html/sbl_mega.html

and yes: you can use 2 additional powerboards..
so: 40A the standard-version
70A continouse the version with 1 additional powerboard
100A continouse with 2 additional powerboards

5S on a Revo? Not a problem! Check this:

http://www.crispycrittershobbyshop.com/enf12.jpg

6S or 5S, depends on the motor choice, obviously.
I can run 5S or 6S without a problem (2S+3S versus 3S+3S)

Nick 10.25.2005 09:59 AM

Very nice! I'm really suprised by the runtime & power you get there but I guess the motor & Lipos help alot. :)

Dafni 10.25.2005 02:53 PM

Just watched the vid. This thing certainly moves! Gotta love the Lehner 19**!

Nice!

The truck has a true basher setup, eh? Rides high and stiff, almost like a Savage. Prone to wheelies.

I like my MT's lower, more race-oriented. But this looks like a serious basher. Nice ground clearance.

Serum 10.25.2005 03:21 PM

It's SCREAMING!! LOWER MEEEE!!

I think i know what Daniels new setup is going to be.. :p

Dafni 10.25.2005 03:42 PM

f'course you know, mate.

nbcaznmaster 10.25.2005 04:14 PM

what setup is it? same here, i like it lowered and race oreitned to! Whats the point of a revo if u aint setup for racing?

Serum 10.25.2005 04:17 PM

Nbcazn, like the topicstarter mentioned a 1930/8 with a 4S kokam 3200 (graupners to be honoust) and a homemade controller..

GriffinRU 10.30.2005 09:08 PM

Cool conversions.
But why e-maxx tranny and battery on one side? No balance problems?
I think setups based on original shape frame have more to offer then flat buggy style for Monster truck.

Artur

Some of mine conversions

squeeforever 10.30.2005 09:18 PM

im not sure about werner but i chose the e-maxx tranny because of simplicity and there near bulletproof with a steel idler. also, the fact that he uses lipo doesnt throw of the balance issue since they typically way half of a standard pack. if you notice all the heavy stuff like the motor and reciever pack are on the other side to counteract the weight of the lipos. also, are you the person that was selling the converted revos on ebay?

ttrmike 10.31.2005 11:09 AM

thats him.

standard_63 10.31.2005 02:53 PM

Wow -- so much space, you need to build a killer track for that thing and really have some fun! :D

I ran my Nitro Revo in my backyard track for an hour and half yesterday, rain and all. SO much fun that truck is, but my gas power won't pull me wheelies like your will. Very nice!!

Hi Standard

I bet with a suspension setup like Werner even a nitro revo pulls wheelies like there ain't no tomorrow.

Yeah, agree about the track.

squeeforever 10.31.2005 04:08 PM

i agree with dafni. if your revo is getting traction and it isnt to rich it would pull wheelies pretty easily. have you tightened the slipper all the way?

nbcaznmaster 10.31.2005 04:59 PM

lol, mine ALMOST wheelies, but of course wheelieing aint a thing you want when racing. I rmembered tehj First time i discovered a slipper clutch on my nitro rustler! Tightened it all the way, the thing wheelied like crazy with teh .18 sirio. but after 3 runs the tranny got broken :(.

HEY! aren't u the one that tired to sell teh BL revo with teh 7020 and c50 hacker for like 1k?

Serum 10.31.2005 05:34 PM

Jups..

he is ncabz!

nbcaznmaster 10.31.2005 05:53 PM

lol, i wonder if he saw my thread bout his auction....

GriffinRU 10.31.2005 07:35 PM

Wow,

Am I in trouble?

Yes, it was my REVO on-ebay, and my plan was to find out what is going on with Electric REVO's.
As you probably find out dumping $950+ for truck you should be hardcore or nuts :) (It was a good protection and if somebody will pay that much, then I can create more conversions for much less, about $50.) That particular conversion was designed to allow use of Electric and Nitro with minimum changes. As you know sometimes it is fun to run them both and compare, as well as wide range of aftermarket parts for REVO.
Another conversion with pure electric approach is still under development, but who knows...
But as far as information it did its job, I found your forum and looks like cool trucks and ideas are floating around...

As far as speed controls, let’s be nice and calm down. I didn't say that it will fit every application and every truck. But it did work in mine with some limitations. If you noticed I offered serious speed controllers for reasonable price as well

Artur

nbcaznmaster 10.31.2005 07:42 PM

well, you sold a 7020 with a c50 hacker which will more likely FRY the system, which you never mentioned. if some1 was ignorant bidded on the item, they will have a big surprise!

If ur complete conversion is cheaper then dafni's way, then i'll buy it! Though you'll have stiff competition witht he g-revo comming out.

Not to hijack the thread ( like no one here does that :p ), but near the end of running yesterday I was thinking the same exact thing. At first I thought it was the 40 series DirtHawgs keeping me from wheelie-ing, but I was wondering about the slipper... Iwas getting wheelies occasionaly. I have it tightened down to where it just slips with the wrench in the small hole and I turn the spur. I have to replace a rear axle that snapped off my final tabletop attempt, and after that I will tighten the slipper. I forgot where I was on the track and floored it coming up to the jump, and right as I hit it I realized, "Not that one, D'oh!!" I have a small triple I have trouble clearing so I floor it on that one, but the tabletop is a launcher for sure. :L: Truck made it around the next corner and the right rear wheel fell off. Then it started to rain, perfect timing!

This RC thing sure is fun, LOL!!

GriffinRU 10.31.2005 08:02 PM

Well, if you remember old Hacker's Master Car ESC, then that e-maxx combo should never function at all. As far as constant current on my REVO it was maximum around 60A, so ... what's your point? And I do remember blownig couple hackers on my emaxx, so point taken and not really.
We can go into electronics as far as you wish, but I do not see the point.

As far as GMaxx or other conversions, I think they all look unique and have future.

I think my setup is simple to reproduce without serious CNC business and can be done quick. And with some effort can be under $50.00 or even less.

Artur

squeeforever 10.31.2005 08:18 PM

please excuse ncbazn. i dont think he realizes exactly how tuff the little 7020s are. coolhand ran a 7xl on one. for a while anyway:p

U just cannot let it go ... :)

Artur

P.S. From our e-bay conversation you first told me that 7020 doesn't exist (or just wrong, did I publish your question? I think I did.), then U told me that Gmaxx is cool and nothing else and then U mention that you work on your own REVO conversion...and wonder about how tranny works. By the way when I ask you to create a topic at RCForum to discuss and share it with others you just stopped...

nbcaznmaster 10.31.2005 09:51 PM

cuz i didnt have an account. Okay its tough, but it still not recommened, NVM!!! i give up! welcome to the forums though!

Gustav 10.31.2005 09:54 PM

GriffinRU,Please excuse Nbcazn,we are all used to making allowances for him by now.

Welcome to the forums too!

GriffinRU 10.31.2005 10:05 PM

Thank you!

I hope we will have a nice idea exchange in the future.

Artur

rchippie 11.01.2005 02:05 AM

Griffin welcome aboard:D .

Were can i see a pic or 2 of your conversion ?. I have a EVO done in DAFNI style :D . But i always like to see custom work. Thanks.

Dafni 11.01.2005 03:44 AM

Yes, Artur, nevermind nbcaznboy. We're used to him by now.

Actually, it's a very nice and friendly atmosphere here. Lots of helpfull members. Let's not let to spoil it by one kid.

Glad you found your way here. My opinion on your ebay story: Can't blame you for trying, looked like a honest describtion, too.

Welcome to RCM!
