Stampede Tranny Help

tryin to assemble the FLM Stampede tranny, but I seem to be missing some screws?

http://www.lunardreams.net/skelbow/Tranny.jpg

someone who has one of these trannies.. should there be little countersunk bolts for those 4 spots; because my package came with none?

Nor do I know what half the screws that came with it are for.. there are some really long ones.. half threaded 35mm bolts, and I have no idea where they go either.

Thanks.

MetalMan 10.24.2005 10:02 PM

Those should already be on a Stampede. I think they were expecting that you would re-use the stock tranny mounting screws.

RC-Monster Mike 10.24.2005 10:03 PM

Those holes are used to hold the plate to the actual case itself I believe. I think the stock screws may be used for those, actually.

Skelbow 10.24.2005 10:10 PM

yea.. there are 6 holes to reuse the stock bolts

but the 4 to hold the suspension bracket onto the bottom of the tranny don't exist on the stock tranny.

see?

RC-Monster Mike 11.02.2005 09:14 PM

The screws for the suspsension arms should have been with the tranny

Skelbow 11.02.2005 11:29 PM

I think I'm missing the 4 bigger bolts that hold the suspension parts onto the bracket as well..

I'll hunt down Fast Lanes Email, and shoot them a messag and see what they say.

Rcbros 11.03.2005 09:45 PM

For me all hardware was included. Simple E-mail To Info@fastlanemachine.com would do the trick.

rkman 11.09.2005 02:39 PM

I noticed your arm mounts appear to be relatively straight from front to back.
I also got the stampede transmission and got all the hardware.
My arm mounts have an angle to them and no matter which way I mount them I either have a lot of toe in or toe out.
I've tried flipping the arms themselves and swapping the mounts from one side to the other but nothing works.
Are there more than one type of mounts fastlane is producing?
Here are some pics

MetalMan 11.09.2005 05:39 PM

I think FLM only makes the arm mounts with toe-in. There are other companies that make them with 0*, though.

Skelbow 11.09.2005 08:40 PM

mine seem to have zero degree.. there is no toe in at all. I'll snap a pic to show...

and I talked with FLM and they are sending the missing screws right out!

EDIT : Here's the pic, look for yourself.

rkman 11.09.2005 08:53 PM

I just checked the packaging that the transmission came with and it has 4 degrees hand written on the label.
There are 4's stamped on the arm mounts which you can see in the top pick of my post.
Looks like there are more than 1 kind of mounts Fastlane is producing. :M:

Here is a close up of the arm mounts on the tranny compared to yours.

RC-Monster Mike 11.09.2005 09:42 PM

There are 4 degree arm mounts and one degree arms mounts for the rear arms. The one degree mounts will seem like there is very little, if any toe in. Glad you got the missing parts on the way.

rkman 11.09.2005 09:50 PM

Didn't know there were options.
I'm not really fond of the toe in with the 4 dgree mounts.

Any way I can get a pair of the 1 degree mounts from you Mike?

RC-Monster Mike 11.09.2005 10:31 PM

Of course. I am not sure if I have any sets in stock by themselves, but I will be sure to get some when I place my next FLM order(next day or so).

rkman 11.09.2005 10:41 PM

Cool! Thanks Mike.

Let me know how to place the order from you and I'll take a set when you get them.:D

RC-Monster Mike 11.11.2005 12:24 PM

I will list them on the site when I get them in...Hows that?

rkman 11.11.2005 11:40 PM

Sounds good to me. Thanks!

Help too

I hate to jump in on this thread but I need help as well with the FLM Tranny.
How does it attach to the aluminum chassis?
Can someone snap a pic and show me, because I seem to be missing mounting hardware as well.

Skelbow 11.15.2005 03:44 AM

My problems seem to keep going and going....

I ordered the Rusty chassis from Mike and it got here WAY faster then I was expecting, anyways, during the rough assembly of the rear (just wanted to see how everything fits) it seems I am screwed again!

Edit - Think I got it to work, the holes were close enough that if I did the top ones first and then bolted the angle braces to the lower chassis, it all worked :D

I included a photo to help on my problem...

About getting the tranny onto the chassis... its just an easy bolt on. the Suspension bracket that goes under the tranny, use those same bolts to go through the lower chassis to hold it all together, I'll snap a pic later.

Skelbow 11.15.2005 04:20 AM

seannix,

There should be little bevel screws that hold the suspension bracket onto the bottom of the tranny (arrows on first pic)

http://www.lunardreams.net/skelbow/chassis5.jpg

and then all you have to do with put the tranny/suspension bracket onto the top of the chassis, and then screw the 6 bolts from the bottom of the chassis into the tranny (arrows on pic below)

http://www.lunardreams.net/skelbow/chassis6.jpg

Got it mostly together, what do you guys think??

i changed how the front shocks mount for better steering. it also uses nitro rustler/stampede knuckles and front hubs.

i also changed the chassis angle braces to straight down to allow for 7cell packs. i also fabricated a silver carbon fiber top plate.

to give you some ideas here is what mine looks like:

joostin420 11.16.2005 05:32 PM

thanx; it definately has bling factor to it, but honestly i cant wait till this one below is up and running. still needs work, and a few more parts, but custom chassis with 13.75" wheelbase, and Nemisis 12s BL on 12cells:
