And another one bites the dust ta.....
no smoke , no nothing, just quit , no biggie , its my first so im not to worked up about it , just disappointed  , stomps feet and sticks out bottem lip
i got about 45 min out of it  it was funny though my wife was out with me and i was driving for like 15 min and it just stopped and i was like trying to get the body off to make sure it wasnt smokin and she was like what did you do , and i was like nothing  it just stopped :whip: anyway , i hope it is not related to set-up hvmaxx motor 4.5 turn and geared 11/68 in a e-revo , today the temps were the same as yesterday , motor 130* esc. through the side vent 110* ************ so what do i need to send back? just the esc. i hope , i really dont want to take the wiring apart thanks |
also i can still use the usb thing and the lights come on , but nothing when it is disconnected
i also checked the switch and it seems fine |
Sorry to hear of your loss...
|
i thought i got a good one after my run yesterday , but then i ran today and i was like ......................................... oh so this is how it feels:diablo:
|
Was that a v1 mmm or v2. My v1 is still going, but w/ few mods.
|
v2
i wounder if i could just put a bec on it and it would work? |
It couldn't hurt. Mine, V1, has an external ccbec and I removed the fan from the board and wired it to the rx. So far I have 15+ packs through it w/no probs.
|
Same exact thing happened to mine but i was like 10 seconds away from driving it! almost. i checked my switch as well. also my first, i wonder what is happening to the controller mine was ver 1.19 no. 107
|
yeah it sucks , but oh well
hey slim, where ya from, that is a sweet avatar btw, ahhhhh can we kill it...lol |

when she says so .............. j/k , its not that bad , and the $ she spends is for everything from stuff for the kids to furniture so i dont complain oh yeah i know what ya mean , she is into scrap books for the kids:great: |
did you try a rx pack or bec?
|
not yet , i will after dinner, if it is , i will still send it in, but it would be nice to know
|
ok i just tried it and it didnt work with my ccbec so it is something else
it will ship out tommorow |
entjoles im workin in san fran right now but i travel all over, yeah its nice to have a wife thats cool with this hobby, helps ease the sticker shock! it was a V2 as well coolrunnings. hey entjoles, did you talk to castle already and if so did they give you a turn around eta?
|
sorry i forgot to mention it in my last post but entjoles i got that avitar pic the day we replaced the top set of tripples (crossarms) they are all snapped to the strain side.
|
no i didnt talk to them , but i have it ready to ship out , i printed out the form and such , it says on the castle site 4 weeks :whip:
very cool pic. indeed , i only have a few cool ones , it seems i never bring a camara when i should have nice weather there anyway, it gets pretty cold here:oh: |
can someone confirm that it is bad and not a bad solder joint on the motor?
i used my ccbec to check if it was the internal bec that was bad and my rx comes on but the mmm wont come on , but when it is linked to castle link the lights come on does this mean it should be sent in? |
Quote:
I sent it in yesterday and I think you should do the same |
sent it out today , did you send in your wires with it? i didnt , but i put a note in the box that i wouldnt need new ones
looks like 4 wks on the castle site for repair.................... |
hey guys patrick wrote me today and said i should flash it and that would probably fix it. tried it with the version 3.05 cc link and no updates and the neww 3.11 from the site wont recognize the controller. hmmmmm will keep trying and keep you guys posted
|
i had updated mine to the newest available on sat., what do you mean by flash it?
let us know if you have any luck , i shipped mine out to them today , although i didnt get to talk to anyone on the phone i left a message |
not sure i think he meant reloading the firmware but the newest ver on the web is 3.11 and it wont recognize the MMM (ver 1.19) said to use link to update it but i cant get it to work.will keep everyone in the loop as this progresses
|
ok just got done "flashing" said MMM and gues what! nothing... oh well i tried sorry all
|
Without reading the whole thread, has anyone tried using an external BEC or receiver pack AND backfeeding that voltage into the ESC (don't pull the red wire)? It flashes ok, so it sounds like the brains are still working with an external 6v power source. Maybe the BEC is out.
|
BrianG.......
i didnt for fear of wrecking something, but i did try it with a ccbec and the red wire out, but that is a great idea, to bad i already sent it back today:whip: |
no i didnt try that either what exactly will backfeeding the bec do?
|
i think BrianG is thinking that it will let the esc. start up , by using the external ccbec and leaving the red wire in the esc. rx. plug you will be powering up the brain thru the rx. and into the esc. and it will work
it would have been worth a shot (if only he posted this last night:whip:) |
Well, hooking the MMM to the link cable tells you the brains are ok as long as they are getting an external power source (via the link). When running, the BEC powers the brains and external servos. Well, if the BEC is bad, both the servos/receiver and the brains won't get the power. So, backfeeding an external BEC voltage INTO the MMM (as well as to the servos) "should" power the brains too. That is unless the MMM BEC FET isn't shunting battery voltage to the output (similar to the CCBEC has been reported to do).
Basically, just hook an external BEC but don't remove the red wire in the throttle cable. However, before you do this, I would measure the output voltage of the MMM BEC to make sure the output is in fact 0v (or close to it). If not, DO NOT do the backfeeding thing. Also, keep an eye on the external UBEC temps. If it gets hot then the MMM BEC is causing more issues. |
got it back sat. and decided to run a ccbec on it, tested and ran for like 10 sec. before the ccbec smoked (? wtf....) so i went back inside and took off the smoked ccbec and put the red wire back in and tested , outside i go for 15 more sec. of fun..............
i just hope i didnt damage a $130 servo or my rx , and of coarse i sold most of my stuff so i dont have an extra rx... all default settings except changed the lvc to 13.2v this kinda sucks cause it will be snowing here before long, that is why i put the bec on it in the first place , i thought ahh ha , i will just use an external bec and when cc gets things figured out i will run it normal oh well..........pdlcast incoming package  |
Monster Max problem
I also was using a Monster V2 with the Castle BEC. It was running great for 7 min in my buggy then it stopped working. It smoked my receiver and the Castle BEC was outputting 15 volts and burnt my receiver. I did checked the new receiver with a seperate 6v batts and everything seems fine. Then I hooked up the Monster BEC to the receiver and then the smoke came out of the Monster ESC. This sucks but they are at least replacing it or repairing the ESC when we send it in. Goodluck to all that runs the Monster Max, hopefully some are actually having fun instead of worrying about having a dead ESC.
|
found some stuff that allowed me to test my rx and servo , all is well on 3.7 v so i will assume for now that they are ok and my mmm just needs to be sent back for repair.............:yipi:
|
still can link up with usb so i just used a rx pack to backfeed the mmm and it fired right up , i hope it lasts till the snow flys:rofl:
glad i did this before i sent it back:wink: |
