Record of MMM V2 success so far
Gents,
With a few threads reporting the failure of MMM as such, I feel that we should also gauge the success rate of the MMM. Let the (hopefully) silent majority speak out on your success with V2 so far. Some info like : 1) What configuration ? (vehicle, motor, battery) 2) Any mods ? (external BEC etc.) 3) How long the run time so far ? 4) Driving style (sissy or barbarian) 5) Any other relevant info would be cool. Mine is on the way so let's hope it's second time lucky  Regards, Joe Ling |
my v1 and v2 are working as advertised. i use for racing only. hours on the v1 and maybe 5 packs on the v2

im interested on this thread...subscribing...

3905 E-maxx, 6s flightpower, tekno neu 1515 2.5d
Virtually stock except for futaba fasst controller around 1.5-2 hours on it total bashing, medium to hard running Great success so far and no complaints. I am running with the internal bec and all is well. |
Hyper ST truggy, 5S zippy's, 1515 2.5D.. ~1900W as geared.
So far everything but the custom lvc works. Motor, batts and esc stays cool. ~2hrs of hard bashing so far. Everything so far is good temp wise. Motor under 150F.. esc..hard to temp. ;) Fan comes on for ~30secs when I stop it then goes off. Guess that's a good sign. |
Muggy, 1515 2.5D, 6s
No mods, running it right out of the box about 4hrs. run time on it hard bashing, full throttle runs, wheelies, small jumps (so far). Trying to see if it can take a beating basically. |
1) What configuration ? E-Revo, Tekno Neu 1515/1Y, TRC 4s 15C 8000, and Zippy 6s 20C 4300
2) Any mods ? not really just a plate in case it flames; http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...m/IMG_1374.jpg http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...m/IMG_1377.jpg 3) How long the run time so far ? about 10 hours 4) Driving style. I drive like a sissy...lol...would anyone? I beat my MMM like a red-headed stepchild! 5) Any other relevant info. Not that I can think of... |
I suppose my V1 info may not be relevant, but then again, maybe it is?
1) What configuration ? (vehicle, motor, battery) Hyper 7, 10XL, 6S A123 2) Any mods ? (external BEC etc.) Nope 3) How long the run time so far ? Several hours 4) Driving style (sissy or barbarian) Barbarian++ 5) Any other relevant info: I can't seem to keep fans running in it. I think I've been through at least 4 by now. I've had one blade break, the rest have been electrical failures. |
This info is for my v1 that has about 2 hours on it so far:
1) What configuration Erevo, all stock save for mgt 50t spur, 19t pinion. 4s lipo, neu 1515 1.5d. 2) Any mods ? (external BEC etc.) Added some high density foam cushion between the case mottom and the pcb, clearanced the case botton for the fan plug, and enlarged the slot in the case side where the signal/switch wires exit. I plan to add so shrink tubing to those wires and the internal fan wires. I recently purchased a used MMM v1 that had run quite a bit, it had frayed wires on the fan and where they exit the case, the fan plug had also scratched the case bottom alot. Should have taken pics, but just sent it to castle... 3) How long the run time so far ? 2 hours+ 4) Driving style (sissy or barbarian) Fast street runs, lots of full throttle and hard brakes. Also ran off road, and on a ginat asphalt hill (mountain?!) A fair amount of jumping. I know how to drive so I am not as rough as some... 5) Any other relevant info: Case design is poor, IMO. It should have some sort of pcb support, other than the lower case. Some plastc tabs and screws would be best. The sticker on the bottom does not stick very well, also the tabs on the case bottom are poor. I have heard about fan clearance issues, and will check my V1 for this. Fan still works fine, it is on all the time being a v1 model. Signal wire exit hole is also poor, should have a runbber grommet, or some sort of wire protection. Internal fan wire also needs addl protection from rubbing the side of the pcb. Honestly all of this shows very poor physical testing... CC needs to do a bit more of that next time... I will say that the performance has been great. No issues at all with running the motor and the internal bec works flawlessly so far. I have a V2 coming this week and will have it in a LST on 6s, will report back after some testing... |
1) What configuration?
Losi 8ight, MMM V1, Tekno Neu 1515/1y, Hyperion 4s 5350mah lipo pack 2) Any mods? Completely stock V1 MMM ESC... nothing done to it. The fan doesn't seem to work, but it was like that when I bought the ESC used. The temp of it doesn't go above about 120*F so I'm happy with it. 3) How long the run time so far? I have about two and a half hours under it, and probably more with the previous owner. 4) Driving style? Testing was pretty conservative, then I did some full speed to full brake runs for about 10 - 15 minutes straight. And today I had about a hour and a half bashing session with some massive jumps and big hill climbs, but I wasn't working the ESC too hard. It was a lot of stop and go though. 5) Any other relevant info? It is running perfect for me so I can't be happier. |
MMM v1
1) What configuration ? Revo, 5s, Medusa 60-1600 2) Any mods ? None 3) How long the run time so far ? Several hours 4) Driving style ? Barbarian bashing 5) Any other relevant info ? Never ever gets hot. Runs like a champ. Recently sold it to a friend who will be joining RC-M soon. |
MMM V2 arrived this morning! Thanks Mike!
I'll post results on operation first chance I get.

2) Dremmeled fan grill from case, removed switch, and added padding in case. I run a Novak 30mm fan off the receiver. 3) Three races and about 2 hours of driving time on the street 4) Barbarian... I always go big 5) The stock fan broke in the first two minutes I had it running on the track. Same problem as before, the plug breaking on the bottom of the ESC. Overall, working perfectly. Temps around 140 after a 10-15 minute main pushing it hard. My v1 is working flawlessly too. I just removed the top of the ESC case and ran it with no fan. I think I have 5 or 6 races on that one, including a 30 minute main that it took with no problem (no fan either). Temps in the 150-165 range with no fan. |
Losi 8T
MMM V2 1 hour:whip: Tekno Neu 1515/1.5D/F 4S 6000 Maxamps Cen Matrix FRE MMM V2 1 hour:whip: Neu 1512/1.5D/F 3s 6000 Maxamps I took the 8T out to the pavement and did some speed runs and practicaly could have shreed the tires off the rims. Its stupid fast. The Matrix is also equaly way overpowered. The MMM V2s so far are performing as they should AWESOME!!:party::whip: |
MMM v2
1) What configuration ? Revo, 4s, 9XL, 24/65 2) Any mods ? None 3) How long the run time so far ? 30 minutes 4) Driving style ? Barbarian bashing 5) Any other relevant info ? Stayed nice and cool after 30 minutes of bashing |
My first v2 Dropped dead after about 4-5 hours of total track time. Maybe a bit more.
It just stopped. No smoke, no flames, no lights, no nothing. Just dead. Config: Mugen MBX-5 Prospec, 1512/1.5/D/F, 11t pinion - 46t spur on 4s 25c 5000mah Polyquest. Mods: Holes drilled in case at the caps, Fan wire shrink wrapped and rerouted. Runtime: About 4-5 hours. Driving Style: Drunken Barbarian with Terets and dirty contacts. Other: Temps were fairly consistent around 145 degrees. Number 2 v2 is still holding up. I moved it from my truggy over to the buggy so I could race it this past weekend. I put my old modded up MM back in the truggy. It ran pretty good too. :mdr: |
Just got mine up and running(finally). Had to wait on a pinion that was big enough for my shaft...
1) What configuration ? E-Revo, Hobbycity 8XL(1700kv), 4S TRC 15C/8000mAh lipo 2) Any mods ? 24/58 gearing, 50wt shock oil, blue/silver springs, TRX anti-roll bars, alternate steering block for better steering, Spektrum DX 2.0 3) How long the run time so far ? 5 minutes so far 4) Driving style So far, "sissying" it to make sure all is working well and then I'll be getting barbaric on it, for sure. 5) Any other relevant info. During calibration, the MMM wouldn't register the brakes until I puched from the back of the trigger for another half mm of travel...then it registered. After running for a few minutes, I went through my EPA settings and noticed that the brake EPA has to be set individually from the throttle. I'll be messing around with the hardware installation as it's kinda just thrown together to get it going and make sure everything works. I'll post again once I've been able to finalize the setup and recalibrate the ESC, dial in the settings etc. Nice idea to have a positive thread like this considering all of the negativity due to failures and the typically silent happy customer phenomenon. :) Hopefully I won't be posting in the MMM = fail threads. (crosses fingers) |
I have 1 of 50 MMM that have not the good firmwire, i have just download the new version 1.19 and all working great i run the truck during 35min non stop full trottle with my spc 8000 7.4v and my medusa 36 60 2000kv, the battery after 35min are at 70 degre, MMM 70 degres and motor 110 degres with 22/68 on my e-revo, i have some glicht with am radio but it run quite well.

2) twin heatsinks & fan, Losi DSM radio, 6mm 24T pinion 3) 0 min 4) Parked 5) I don't have a MMM yet Please forgive me, I couldn't help myself. I'm on a weeks annual leave and suffered a momentary relapse of no MMM rage. |
1) What configuration ? vehicle = Hot Bodies LSP-R, motor = KD 36-74 9XL (gone bad due to running on 8S previously), battery = 5S Hyperion LCX 5350
2) Any mods ? None 3) How long the run time so far ? 10 minutes or so on Truggy. Soon to be on the good ol' Rustler on 6S and Medusa 36-50-3300V2-5 4) Driving style = pretty brutal on electronic components 5) Any other relevant info = Originally intended for the Truggy and will go back into it after the ROSSA speed challenge and when the Medusa 36-70-1600V2-5 comes out So far, I have no complaints on the MMM. :great: Edit: Now in Rustler on 6S running the Medusa Motor. Works like a charm! Going for speed runs this weekend. |
Well I'm on a roll. I really hope that the early failures are just manufacturing defects.
1) Configuration: FLM Forward tranny Savage, Neu 6s 20c 4900mah battery, Feigao 11xl 1516kv, Hitec 5955tg steering servo, Hitec digital high speed brake servo (can't remember number), Max size wheels, geared for 30mph in first and 40mph in second. 2) Mods: No mods on the MMMs 3) Run times: A few minutes 4) Driving style: So far sissy haven't had a chance to flog them, they don't last that long. 5) Story: So I killed an MMMv1 had it repaired and killed it again. I have now killed two v2s as well. I can't complain because castle is sending me another one. MMMv2 number 1 Died on the bench with the car propped up with out the wheels on. I was checking steering end points (all ready setup but I was checking), calibrating the esc and just checking the car over and it switched off. Gone. I was running an eagle tree on it while it was on the bench and the highest amp spike I got was 10 amps or so. It was only that high because I think I applied a little bit of brake by hand once. MMMv2 number 2 Installed and ran it with out the brake servo connected as the brake servo is the only thing running off the internal bec that hasn't been run in another car. Ran it round in front of the house for a few minutes and it worked fine. Next night I put in a better brake servo and took it out for a bit of a test in front of the house, all was good. I then took it to a school parking lot where I would have a bit more space to wind it out. The car was insanely fast and having second gear kick in really late seemed to be working well. Was driving it around for a few minutes checking the temps every now and then. I stopped it (esc still on) and did a thorough check of all the temps servos, battery, wires, connectors, motor, MMM fan was off and everything was dead cold. Went to take off and the car switched off. Gone. On this esc I didn't use the eagle tree as I wasn't sure if that was causing the problem and from my other runs it didn't seem to be pulling too many amps at least in first anyway. Small Update: Castle has the best customer service ever. They are sending me a replacement and I am buying another 2 MMMs for spares. When the replacement gets here I will run it with an external bec. |
Keep it coming guys. Those who posted earlier, please wait a week or two & report back on the status of your esc thanks.
As for me, not long now. Hopefully by this weekend I'll have something to report... Regards, Joe Ling |
