Wich Neu for a Stampede???

I want to slowly upgrade the Stampede of my son (it me who'll run it:lol:).
For now, i've change the idler gear for the steel one, and the diff for the VXL one.
Now i look for a good motor ( i've order this one for now http://www.unitedhobbies.com/unitedh...tor_13T_3000Kv but i look for a Neu motor soon.

What do you suggest to me, a 1512 or a 1509???????
I'll run it on 3s li-po.

Thank you:wink:

a 1509 would be fine, 1512 might be overkill

Do you have an aftermarket transmission case? The 15xx Neu's are too large in diameter to fit into the stock plastic transmission motor mounts. Unless you want to hack up the back of it.

brushlessboy16 08.26.2008 10:01 PM

they shouldnt be, you can fit a standard feigao with a RCM heatsink in the stock trans

If i take the smooth can, should be fine, no?????

But i plan to order the FLM aluminium tranny case soon.

brushlessboy16 08.26.2008 10:03 PM

should be fine either way

I would go with a medusa 50mm 3300kv in an 1/8th shaft if you want to keep stock gearing...

Good and it's less expensive way too:wink:

Thank you!

brushlessboy16 08.26.2008 10:08 PM

but 32p and mod1 can handle more abuse ;)

Alright I take it back. Half of it. The SMOOTH can Neu 15xx will fit. I just tore the motor out of my GTP to convince myself.

So to answer your question, I think a 1509 will be plenty for a Stampede. A 1512 would be what some call "stupid city".

brushlessboy16 08.26.2008 10:16 PM

but stupid city is great to visit....

5s lipo, and a 19t spec motor in a 1/10th scale is stupid city:D

david lamontagn 08.26.2008 10:21 PM

I think that the medusa 50mm, 3300Kv will do the job for the price, but i think that i'll need better rear drive shaft and a more solid tranny case.

No sure if the internal planetary gear in the diffs will hold on 3s li-po:lol:

What's_nitro? 08.26.2008 10:25 PM

The diffs are tougher than you think. I ran 4s with a 9XL in my Rustler for quite a while. The gears will wear out eventually if you're constantly putting more than 1hp into them, so just have a couple spare sets around.

in comparasion I have a VXL Rustler with a Feigao 9L(2700kv) on 4s with MOD1 gearing and I like the combo...IMO I wouldnt waste $225 on a 1509 the Stampede is pretty light, a while back I was thinking about going with a 1509 in the Rustler but the Feigao is working out fine

You also might want to take a look at HAckers I have a 7L in my CRT.5 and its incredibly powerful. I'm running it at 50k rpm and the temps stay pretty low.

I never really had an issue with the gears. I was always blowing planetary's though. My setup was Feigao 8xl, 5s lipo, Hacker Master ESC. Hit 83mph with it before it became a flipping frenzy.

I ran a plett maxx in my pede, and it worked well. The Medusa sounds like the best bet, they are nice motors, and well made too. I had some issues with the planetary gears, but eventually found it was my custom dogbone setup wobbling too much. It would make the teeth shear off the output gears inside the diff. Otherwise, my other 4 pedes and rustler and slash have held up fine with the vxl diffs... Use stock sliders with all but one truck that uses the mip cvds...

Surprised you havent snapped one of those MIP CVD stub's yet. Their the weak point on the axles and tend to break quite easily.

I have had good success with them so far...

Lucky SOB linc. I broke mine and so did my friend and we both were running basic 2s setups.
