replacement hydra 240 hv dead!!

I just got a new boat 10 days ago with a brand new hydra 240 hv included with it and when I tried calibrating and programing the thing it would not work at all dead so I sent it back to my dealer. As it turned out finedesign got a bad batch of dud controls and sent them back to castle for replacement (which cost me a month of my short summer) and he got back good working controls then sent me one of those good ones which I just received an hour ago in the mail... well I calibrated it and guess what? it worked the motor actually spun WOW I was so happy I almost cried (the way miss america does when she wins pagent) but before I could squeeze out one tear of joy I decided to plug her in just to make sure it wasnt a dream and guess what it died!! Nothing not even a twitch. So here we go again back to the dealer...this time for a full refund (no exeptions) I'm buying an mgm 160.24 marine from mike first thing in the morning!

Is it just me or is this like your 10th post on this saying pretty much the same thing?

Agreed.

Perhaps keeping one thread on the same topic would be a good idea?

There's nothing wrong with voicing your opinion, but it would be nice to keep it all in one thread, even if it means digging up one thats a week or two old. (IMO)

coolrunnings 08.27.2008 02:18 AM

I thought this was like the land of the free or something to that effect...anyway no it is not the same control its the replacement just as described in the post that everyone thinks is a duplicate. I called cris and told him the esc was dead and he sent me a new one the same day which I received 6 days later and the new one is dead to which means that patricks excuse is untrue. I would go into more detail but its no use the administrators are on to me and are deleting my posts. If anyone needs to lash out at me for my horrible cruel posts...email me at jackmehoff@acsalaska.net

TruckBasher 08.27.2008 02:23 AM

nope not horrible at all, this is an informative thread...don't get me wrong.....all their saying is that better put this on the same thread as before. But no worries, I dont think they will remove this thread..... we can wait for Patrick to comment on this...

Sorry for your loss hope you get this replace soon and hope CC can fix it

coolrunnings 08.27.2008 02:39 AM

This one was my second hydra...there wont be a third. Anyway I can't bite my tongue on this issue just to please castle or their fans. I'm going to try and cancel my membership to this forum altogether cause I dont want to piss mike off and put our freindship in jeopardy (that would ruin this hobby for me).

TruckBasher 08.27.2008 02:44 AM

forgive me if I offended you in anyway...but no Im not a fan of CC...I also got shove off on another thread making some negative comments on MMM...but dont leave this community, no need for such extreme measure....Im sure Travis or anyone for that matter did not mean anything negative about your post

This community is for Mike not CC

coolrunnings 08.27.2008 05:08 AM

Metalman I can't pm you for some reason when I try the page wont load (probably for the best) and I cant email you either. I would be happy to discuss your judgment of me before I cancel my membership to your forum.

RC-Monster Mike 08.27.2008 07:51 AM

Interesting how sometimes these posts go sideways. I think we can all feel your frustration, Wes (coolrunnings), and I wouldn't want to lose contact with you, either - I rather enjoy our chats! I also appreciate that you don't want to get too crazy out of respect and the truth is, these forums are supposed to be "flame free" as much as possible, though I understand some passionate complaints in certain situations.

I don't think anyone wants to stifle your opinion here, but the mods are doing their job by trying to keep excessively negative posts off these forums(which is in fact all about judgement, so what may seem mild to you may appear or come off as a "flame" rather than a passionate complaint). This shouldn't become personal at any time (knowing you and Travis, I truly believe you would get along very well and would both have lots of respect for each other - both are intelligent and softspoken hobbyists with very similar personalities and interests). :)

coolrunnings 08.27.2008 08:58 AM

Thanks mike, I was feeling crudy about this hydra problem I'm ok now...I just needed to chill and watch some star trek. I just got a full refund for the esc and have nothing more to cry about. I understand why the forum should be kept civilized. Anyway thanks for the response and dont worry everythings cool.

TexasSP 08.27.2008 10:10 AM

Just a thought, but maybe finedesign wasn't being totally honest and didn't send you a truly new controller. I have often heard of dishonest dealings from there in the past so just a thought. I tried to do business with them before but did not care for the attitude when I asked questions so I am suspect of them based on that as well.

I would have suggested that you contact US, and not the dealer who sold you the product (as it says in our warranty info.)

We don't do warranty work through dealers.

And you probably wouldn't have had to wait at all if you had contacted us directly, and would have had many fewer frustrations. It's nearly impossible to have good customer support when a dealer gets in the middle.

coolrunnings 08.27.2008 04:26 PM

I dont know what to say anymore i feel sick.

coolrunnings 08.28.2008 08:20 PM

Holy cow! I have finally done it...I've pissed everyone off...even the dealer I got this from (cris fine) who after 5 years of freindship is now teating me like dog crap and wont return any calls or emails. He severed contact with me once I asked for a refund. Does anyone want a good deal on a real nice hydra 240 hv?

MetalMan 08.28.2008 09:46 PM

Had you ever tried to get a refund from Mr. Fine in the past? I ask because from my observation that's how it seems he operates.

suicideneil 08.28.2008 09:50 PM

"Warrenty, what warrenty? Here, have a lower spec item in exchange for the one you just sent back because it was faulty."

Thats something I've heard many people say in the past when talking about FD.

I have no doubt he's a nice person and very knowledgeable about boats and setups like that, but it would make much more sense to me to deal with castle directly, with regards to this faulty hydra.

coolrunnings 08.29.2008 12:00 AM

This is the very first time I have asked for a refund, he has in the past replaced a nemesis motor I roasted at 200deg and then refused to warreny a 4s firefox pack (after saying he would). Very odd why he would do this cause I spend like a drunken sailer on this stuff. Anyway the reason why I was tying to deal with him was to retain the option of getting a refund. I'll just get my boat fix from offshore from now on.

SunnyHouTX 08.29.2008 12:12 AM

Hey man, I am truly sad that this happened to you, that he is treating you like this. Hopefully you will find an acceptable resolution by some way. Have you thought of talking to Castle about repairing the controller?

coolrunnings 08.29.2008 12:16 AM

O yea and you guy's do realize that this is the second dead hydra that I've received...not one but 2 and I think a third one would put me over the edge.

coolrunnings 08.29.2008 12:22 AM

I am talking with castle right now and I will deal with them. I need cris to return my calls and let me know if he's going to give me my 400 back...if not I'll play ball with castle and try out that famous customer service everyone raving about. I just bought an mgm 160.24 marine from mike yesterday for my boat.

SunnyHouTX 08.29.2008 12:39 AM

Good luck to ya all the same man! I hate it when fellow RC'ers get run through the wringer like that.

fd probably just sent your dead one straight back to you... after all, he also claimed he sent all his dead ones back the first time, and personally tested yours before sending it to you... thats some bad luck anywho, hope you get it sorted one way or another.

coolrunnings 08.29.2008 11:01 PM

Thanks to anyone who cares but I'll be ok, I wipe my ass with 400 bucks so it's no big deal to me. I have noticed that my posts are being deleted here and there except the ones where I say something negetive about cris fine those stay...someones a little prejudice.

well, I will try to remeber to send a roll of Charmin with your next package, Wes - you can send the $400 this way(and just let me know when you need more!). :)
Also - negative comments about experiences are OK to post (and we don't delete your positive posts about Chris Fine, either) - it is the inflamatory posts that get axed. :)

coolrunnings 08.29.2008 11:19 PM

I never use charmin...my finger always pokes through.

BrianG 08.29.2008 11:20 PM

Mike's pretty flexible; if you want Scott or Bounty, I'm sure he'll accomodate.

coolrunnings 08.29.2008 11:45 PM

I really like those little blue shop rags.

azjc 08.30.2008 12:20 AM

try going with the Russian issued sandpaper......:-0

coolrunnings 08.30.2008 12:32 AM

Your funny!

Pdelcast 08.30.2008 05:11 PM

Well Coolrunnings,

We sent you a brand new Hydra HV-240 yesterday. I had Mike (my top tech) do full-on testing of the unit, and had him verify that the unit worked perfectly. He ran it in full load testing for about 25 minutes.

So keep it and enjoy it.
