Radio Question
 

Hey guys - right now I'm running a Spektrum DX3.0 and I'm thinking of getting a better radio for next season. I want something that's really fast and won't glitch. I guess it would also be nice if I could have a lap timer on it too. I don't know a whole lot about radios, so I'm not sure what else to ask. If any of you have a link to a site that has compared or reviewed some of the radios out there - that would be awesome too.

Just put a little fan on your Rx! :lol: But on a more serious note, if I had the ca$h I'd go with a Nomadio.

Futaba FASST 3PM can be had for less than $200 and pretty much plug and play ...2.4ghz is the way to go

What makes the Futaba FASST system so good? Does anyone know how it compares to the Spektrum and Nomadio technology? I've heard the Nomadio system is awesome, but I really don't know a bunch about it.

The more I read, the more I like the Nomadio products. Anybody have first hand experience on them?

One of my friends has one if you want to take a look at one sometime... Next time we go down the track I am sure he will be there with it.. I am going to sell both of my DX2's and get a DX3R or a 3pm with the spectrum module...

for me it affordable and simple to setup and it is dependable, the range is as far as you can see...they say the Normadio has a range of over 1000' but that is over 3 football field lengths I really question if that is needed. the Futaba has never glitched on me...I supoose if you need all the bells and whistles you might want to spend the 4 bills on a more expensive radio..in a nut shell a very good bang for the buck...

Yeah, I highly doubt I'll use the 1000' range either unless I strap some binoculars to my head. And I don't want to spend more than I have to either. The biggest thing to me is NO glitching and some of the other cool stuff like lap timing, response speed, vehicle speed, etc.

My Spektrum has glitched a couple of times when I've been racing and it's really frustrating. Besides . . . the transmitter looks like it was made by R2-D2 or something. Anyway, from what I understand, the Nomadio technology is just better than the Spektrum. Not sure how it compares to the Futaba though.

By the way, the Nomadio React is under $300. Amainhobbies has them for $260. Although I'm a little worried about if Nomadio will be around for very long - seems they're all discontinued or out of stock a lot.

That's weird that the Spektrum glitched. I've had a DX3, DX3.0, and now a DX3r and none have ever glitched on me. Personally, the DX3r has everything I need. The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been a data port for PC programmability and/or firmware updates.

Yeah, it is pretty weird, but it's happened a few times. I will say that our track has a few power lines running right over it and really gave my last Airtronics MX-3S radio trouble in a couple spots.

I've also been interested in some of those other features I've mentioned that the DX3.0 doesn't have.
