still looking for 5s lvs?:mdr:

coolrunnings 09.01.2008 11:02 PM

I'm not to familiar with the supermaxx stuff but I love the chassis and motor mount...looks killer. The chassis set up including the suspention and all the centraly located electronics looks wicked. What chassis is that? I'm oozing with envy...and I normally dont get that way...lol.

rootar 09.01.2008 11:05 PM

thats such a sick truck!

Krawlin 09.01.2008 11:14 PM

That is truly a work of art! Amazing truck!

I really like the design of that chassis, its so narrow, it seems like that truck would handle great!

BlackedOutREVO 09.02.2008 12:36 AM

Damn that thing is AWESOME!

That is the coolest maxx EVER!! Your so lucky to have that chassis!

JERRY2KONE 09.02.2008 12:55 AM

Setup

That is a very interesting setup, what chassis is that? We can see that most of your truck is UE gear, but that chassis setup is something new. Is that some kind of new UE hybrid, or did you have that made yourself? Nice clean look with the motor mount for direct drive. So is the motor pinion going to drive a gear mounted directly to the rear drive shaft? Come on share some tech info with us.

plettenbergs 09.02.2008 06:59 AM

i picked up 4 aluminum show trucks from a dude in ALASKA last year....He was getting out of the hobby and threw this chassis in for free!...It has been in my tmaxx room until last week when i woke it from the dead!....it has one long shaft conected to front and rear diff....

i have neww batts on the way and will have vid asap!!

JERRY2KONE 09.02.2008 07:51 AM

Awsome.

Holy Crap Batman that is one version that I have not seen before. Anyone out there know what brand of chassis this thing is? I like the concept of having the single drive shaft for both diffs. Someone must have made that up custom. So hurry up and get the project finished so we can see how it handles. Nice ride man.

chilledoutuk 09.04.2008 03:45 PM

nice truck but sorry that's not what i call direct drive.

lutach 09.04.2008 04:48 PM

In RC that is a direct drive from the motor to the spur. In other words, he's not using a transmission. I know what you mean by direct drive though. In planes direct drive means just that, a motor that directly powers the prop. Other direct drive will be what a few people here have done, by not having a spur gear at all. So the motor is directly putting power into the diffs. RC can be complicated sometimes .

cembom 09.04.2008 06:01 PM

"Tmaxx room" I dont envy you but I like it ALOT.

plettenbergs 09.04.2008 07:23 PM

new ZIPPY-R 5s lipo came in today!!!

e-mike 09.04.2008 07:54 PM

w.t.f...10 cells:gasp:please dont pull a full trotle:lol:

insane built...!!!!!

BL_RV0 09.04.2008 09:00 PM

They're running in parallel.

plettenbergs 09.04.2008 09:12 PM

PARELLEL YES:i will be re-doing the wiring and trying to get some deans connectors on the batts tomorrow!....i hope deans will fit...the wires are huge!

e-mike 09.04.2008 09:19 PM

why use dean....the 6mm will be better for your set-up??!!

plettenbergs 09.04.2008 09:32 PM

i am taking the truck to my LHS tomorrow to look for connectors...they specialize in electric planes and cars!...6mm what?...this is my first electric r/c!...i have been nitro guy!!

coolrunnings 09.04.2008 09:33 PM

The packs look like they could become damaged easy. The packs hang over the chassis almost a 1/2! I'll bet a pair of mikes battery trays would bolt right up and provide some much needed impact resistance.

Is that one of the things you bought from Booyah? It's nice. Too bad it's not made anymore.

plettenbergs 09.05.2008 07:41 AM

no,i did not get it from BOOYA!....as far as i know this is the only chassis like this!....Virgil is making me a new mounting bracket for the steering servo!....it will be ready to run after the part is ready!....i plan on runing the LIGHTNING on 2-5s this weekend if the weather holds up!....i am also going to fabricate some new posts for the UE battery hold down kit to work with the larger 5s lipo batts(wish me luck)...it should look very trick!

Can you contact the person you bought it from and ask him where he picked up the frame and what it is? It is a very nice truck and I am sure that you will have a lot of fun with it as long as you get it all hooked up correctly and safely. Good luck with the setup and testing. Go easy on it up front. You seem to have a pretty good build on your hands there.

lutach 09.05.2008 09:13 AM

Here is where I saw that chassis for the first time:

what guage wire are you using? it looks like 16 guage in the picture next to the 8 guage on the li-pos, and that doesn't look like sillicone wire either:surprised:. without sillicone wire, if the guage is too small and the current is too high, the insulation might melt... and that would not end well.

Is that 10ga? It looks similar to the polyquest XQ packs, which I heard used 8ga to help counter the higher cell resistance.

roweder 09.05.2008 09:35 AM

I thought it was big for 10guage, maybe they should use copper tab cells instead, maybe solder with a little silver mixed in? imo that's a better plan

and I think the zippy li-pos use china cells, polyquest is an enerland pack

Sammus 09.05.2008 09:37 AM

I assumed the polyquest XQ were copper tab? Theyre the latest polyquest packs I thought, with the highest discharge rating. But for some reason give slightly higher V drop under load (apparently.. none of this is confirmed by myself). I'd be surprised if any new lipos weren't copper tab to be honest. At any rate, if theyre not, they damn well should be! :P

roweder 09.05.2008 09:41 AM

I really hope they are, maxamps uses copper tab cells, but they don't use nice cells.

I like thunder power v2's the best, they're enerland packs. I hope this has copper cell tabs, cuz I'm getting it soon: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/17987

roweder 09.05.2008 09:47 AM

but really, plettenbergs what gauge is that wire going to the motor? you could be loosing some voltage with that stuff

Wow if they are at least XP cells thats an awesome price, nearly as good as the polyquest prices (236 for the 5000 6s XP). I'm not sure though because PQ rate their 5000XP to 25C, whereas that one is only 22C...

Lol yeah back to the topic at hand, I'm also interested to know :P

idk why it says 22c at the top, but thunder power rates it at 25c/50c and it says that in the statistics that a-main gives under the descriptions, and on the TP website it says 25c/50c. A-main also says that it has 14 gauge wire, but it has 10 guage.

lincpimp said that he drained a enerland pack down to 2.0v per cell and didn't notice any difference in capacity or performance.

BL_RV0 09.05.2008 10:04 AM

2v/s?!?!?!

Sammus 09.05.2008 10:07 AM

lol man youve been coming out with all the wacky pics lately haha

suicideneil 09.05.2008 02:38 PM

I believe those zippies use 8g wire. Deans arent going to cut it really, beteer off using 5.5mm or 6.5mm gold plated bullet connectors- the shop should have them.

joeling 09.10.2008 10:00 AM

Wow, very pretty !
