2008 RC-Monster Bash Info

1 Attachment(s)
Guys,

Here is some info on the RC-Monster Bash this year. It has quietly been approaching without much discussion yet, but its all set and not far off now. It will be on Sunday September 28th at Barnstormers RC Raceways in Chester NY. Doors open at 8am, track opens at 9am, and the qualifiers start at 11am. Anyone who can, should do their best to make it. It is a great event. I went to my first RCM Bash last year and had an absolute blast. It was really great to meet allot of the guys face to face and see everyones rides in real life. There were some absolutely fantastic machines there. Even if you don't think of yourself as a racer you should come out and have some fun on the track, there will be all skill levels and a class that just about any brushless off-road vehicle can race in. So bring whatever ya got and come out, race, bash and have a great time with your RC-Monster friends. Spread the word and lets see how big of an event we can make this.

I believe that this year event will have RC magazine coverage as well, so it should be some great exposure for this segment of the RC world.

I'm going to be making the drive out from Chicago for the event. Who else is planning to be there?

Here is a flier with more info on it.

brushlessboy16 09.03.2008 09:37 PM

any chance of a begginers, or bashers class? im interested but am in no shape to race with any hope besides holding up the long jump- i WILL be the last one on the track lol

Arct1k 09.03.2008 09:38 PM

I'm there for 100% sure! Last year I took a brushless rustler! Beginers welcome!

jhautz 09.03.2008 09:41 PM

Absolutely beginners are welcome. Dont even worry about it. Its a blast with very laid back folks and the guys at barnstormers are very cool.

Arct1k 09.03.2008 09:44 PM

PS can this be stickied by a mod...

jhautz 09.03.2008 09:45 PM

Actually, moving it to the announcments section would be good. I just couldn't post there.

Arct1k 09.03.2008 09:46 PM

I'm not sure how I'm going to manage running in 4 classes!

MT
Truggy
Buggy
CRT.5

PS I know it was asked on the other thread - PT's also provided, Power available, No lipo restrictions - Just behave sensibly - It is in a barn!

Steve Krug 09.03.2008 09:47 PM

I would totally go but i'm in MN....damn...

Yes - you just make an extra hole in the body - about the size of a body mount - You need clearance underneath for the transponder - approx inch square by .5 inch deep - It hold on by a body clip.

Can be mounted at the track in a couple of mins - Don't worry

lutach 09.03.2008 11:30 PM

What are the best tires to race over there?

MetalMan 09.04.2008 01:26 AM

Totally wish I could make it, but alas it isn't cheap to fly these days and that's the weekend following my first two days of school.

On the brighter side, this thread has been moved.

Arct1k 09.04.2008 06:06 AM

Crime fighters and Bow LPRs work well

auto2 09.04.2008 07:48 PM

the barn is my second home lol. if i didnt have a 17 year old daughter i would even let some of u guys stay at my house.

Electric Dave 09.04.2008 08:18 PM

15 min mains are going to be a problem for lots of us. I can get about 12 mins out of 5000's a pit takes way too long with my two battery setups in my truggy and E-Revo...

Any chance you guys would be willing to reconsider the main and make it 10 mins?

IDK how your only getting 12 mins out of that set up. You should be getting at least 15, id say 20 or more. got a power hungry set up?

brushlessboy16 09.04.2008 08:51 PM

yikes i never thought abot that!! i dont think i can make that.. lol maybe a 10min-MAYBE but now way gonna make a 15min

A lot of it has to do with the track I run on and how I drive. I'm controlled but I do know how to use the throttle. It's all out racing.

Had it stop at 12 mins more than once and it really sucks to be in 2nd or 3rd and end up in 7th because it takes 1-2 mins to remove the body and swap out two batteries not to mention all the fun of waiting on the stand for the ESC to arm and getting impatient and screwing it up.

I've done 15 mins once or twice at an easy track driving very slow and steady. The Barn typically is a big track with big jumps and you need the power. I really want to compete but no way 15 mins with my current batteries.

I hope the powers that be reconsider. Forget what the nitro guys want, this is supposed to be an electric event!

Electric Dave 09.04.2008 09:03 PM

Got one other idea...two mini mains...seen it done before...lower mains are 7-10 mins, one race. A main is two 7-10 min "rounds" where you race for 7-10 mins. The race ends. All trucks come off the track, swap batteries and another 7-10 min race starts. The results of the two races are added together. Usually it's done so there is a break, like this:

Truggy A1
Buggy A1
MT A1
Truggy A2
Buggy A2
MT A2

It gives everyone a chance to compete under power.

But personally I'd rather just see ALL mains be 10 mins. Keep it simple and keep it fair. You don't want guys not to show up because they know they can't finish...

Arct1k 09.04.2008 09:13 PM

It is an elec event and normally managed on the day to a reasonable lowest common denominator - You should be fine...

Electric Dave 09.04.2008 09:20 PM

I'd feel a whole lot better if we could come to a consensus before the event.

If I'm the only one who can't make 15 mins, then majority wins and I'll come up with an alternative plan.

BlackedOutREVO 09.04.2008 09:23 PM

15 mins shouldnt be that hard to make.

But I guess is people are having probs, make the races shorter. I personally think 90% or so of the people will make 15 mins just fine. But I could be wrong?

cemetery gates 09.04.2008 09:46 PM

I'll be there for sure! I cant wait! I just got a medusa 4800kv for my crt.5 and my big jammin is up and running! I'll be good to see all you guys again, does anyone know if Rene(Serum) going to be there?

Bye:mdr:

lutach 09.04.2008 09:55 PM

If I do go, I would love to drive my truck until the LVC kicks in which is set a 3v per cell so 8S would be 24v. I'm waiting for some couplers to come in so I can make my own drive shaft. I'll be running my Enerland packs to have them ready. I might bring my BPP as well, but I'm going to run either 5S or 6S. I should be able to do close to 30 minutes .

brushlessboy16 09.04.2008 10:47 PM

i wont be able to make 15mins on 4000mah...

Arct1k 09.04.2008 10:53 PM

Bring what you have and it will be fine - Mike races with 4s 5K packs, Ryan and I were both use 5s 4k packs so should be fine - I imagine it will drop to about 12 min mains and 7 min qualifiers...

This is a very relaxed day with lots of chat about setups etc. No one should feel mega pressured!

Doug and I will be making it out there. They did not have the event on their schedule. Will they have the opportunity to practice on Saturday and do they have elec. available outside the building too?

Arct1k 09.05.2008 01:07 PM

I don't believe they normally open on a Sat - I've seen guys with long extension leads outside but compressors tend to trip the circuit from what i remember...

brushlessboy16 09.05.2008 02:46 PM

working out my setup, lowering the truck- installing internal downstops in the shocks, going to a lighter oil too, cuz right now if i drop the truck its as if turnbuckles are in place of shocks  no suspension movement, all tire bounce

Are you running foams? Are your tires vented? If not get some holes in them, they'll bounce a lot less.
