Mugen MBX6 Buggy

Howdy, just saw the MBX6 listed on tower and amain, hadn't heard it announced anywhere else (not that I really follow it), and i swear it wasn't on the 'coming soon' list yesterday

Thought someone might like to know :)

DRIFT_BUGGY 09.04.2008 06:54 AM

I have to say the sexiest and most different new buggy I have seen recently is the new team magic buggy. That thing looks sweet and has some really nice features.

wtf? not following your comment BL_RV0.

But yeah, most of em look the same, havent seen the one your talking about MTBikerTim - I like the look of the new D8 though.

drkros3 09.04.2008 11:40 PM

i like the look of the d8's price lol.

jhautz 09.04.2008 11:58 PM

Wow! It looks good. I'm still not sure about the pillow ball steering, but dan it looks really nice.

So who is gonna be the forst to convert one.

Sammus 09.05.2008 12:17 AM

Yeah pillow balls are the killer for me, I hate em. I think they work in the revo because theyre sealed, but like on the TT ST-1 they just get flogged out way to quickly with no seals. I imagine the Mugen is a billion times better quality than the ST-1, but I still can't imagine unsealed pillow balls will last that long.

D8 has been ordered and will be converted into a CORR truck , you can't beat it for price and should be tough as nails if going by past Hot Bodies products also Ty the kid just won the Canadian nationals with the D8 buggy.
.
The Mugen looks hot and should be a very solid buggy if continuing on from the MBX5  and at a good price like the Xray at $599 not like the new Kyosho $850 :surprised:

wallot 09.05.2008 08:46 AM

Mugen PBS works. never had any issues with it and it's rock solid.
i dont like that new shocks are threaded. for racing it's way easier to setup preload with spacers to have both shocks equal
will get one next year so I can race both truggy and buggy

Sammus 09.05.2008 08:52 AM

How much has it been through? I was also told ST-1 PBS was tough as, then after about an hour total running the suspension was sloppier than paris hilton.

Dafni 09.05.2008 08:58 AM

I had a BL MBX5 with some SERIOUS mileage on it (ask Mike or Rene or MacII or some other people here, this buggy had its fair share of runs, and is still running strong, ask Starscream ) and the PBS never acted up. Never bound, never became sloppy. Reliable as anything.
I don't think you need a sealed PBS in the front anyway.... use my Revos without the boots up front.

I dunno about Paris...

wallot 09.05.2008 09:00 AM

about 3 gallons ~ 12 hours on track hard racing
truck is fully rebuilt after every racing weekend. front knuckles have not been replaced and i try to clean it as much as possible between every round

why would anyone race mugen if the PBS was any issue

Good to know. As far as why would they race if PBS was an issue? Why do people race the associated RC8 buggy? That thing has a pretty bad rep of having pretty damn sloppy suspension (all the hinge pin holes worn out in the swing arms) after only a few races. Several people I know are constantly complaining about this, yet its pretty popular on the track

I just went and checked the pillow balls on my TT ST-1 Pro and there is hardly any play in them at all, and I don't think I've ever re-adjusted them. I've been bashing and racing this car since Oct last year without any problems with it, so it seems strange yours wore out so quick.

Sammus 09.05.2008 09:34 AM

Not my ST-1, a friends. Wasn't that old either. I guess I shouldn't write them off on a single experience :) Thanks guys, you've opened my mind and I won't dis them until I have more definitive evidence

Did the actual pillow balls wear out or the plastic hubs? Maybe the Pro version that I have uses harder metal? I can't remember all of the different things on the Pro. Mine are a dark grey/black colour metel.

Sammus 09.05.2008 09:45 AM

I'm not sure, I didn't investigate it too closely personally. He was pissed off because of how sloppy they got quickly, tried tightening them up to no avail. Could be a lot of things really, maybe the surface they are regularly run on, or sloppy maintenance. It turned him, and by proxy me, off pillow balls though. Not that I thought all pillow balls would be really bad, but I didnt want to drop a few hundred on a buggy that used them just in case though.
