off of 316. Its about 1-1.5 hours from my house so probably closeer to 1.5-2 for you. Its like $70 for ticket and if you want infield parking...its $40

so i figure your not gonna want to come lol.

nitro, im VERY pleased with the drive train until about 2 minutes ago....

2 of my wheels (one front, one back) look like this

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_0345.jpg

the hex jammed itself and CRACKED
I need a cheap solution!

Well that just means it's running smooth! You're getting more power to the wheels!

What's_nitro? 10.03.2008 12:21 AM

Is the hex still in there? You should be able to pry the rest out and use a fresh one as long as the wheel itself is OK.

if you look very close, hlaf the hex is there, the other half is gone. And the rims are DESTROYED

In that case, I think there's only one solution. :grrrrrr:

Tempted 10.03.2008 12:30 AM

The wheel looks to be toast. I've got a ton of spare Revo wheels if you want one. Let me know and we can meet up tomorrow.

yea......not good. I dont hav much mulla right now. Im tihnking in the long run imm going to have to look into 17 or 23mm hex. WHAT A PAIN

Tempted, i may be looking into that for tempoary problem solving. But otmorrows a no go. I gotta leave Marietta at 7AM

Anyone know of a good brushless proof wheel/hex combo? Oyea, im intothe off road look,

What's_nitro? 10.03.2008 12:39 AM

I think if you get either the 17mm or 23mm hexes you'll be good. The 17mm gives you more wheel options though. The Maximizer beadlock wheels are good, and I think you'll find most will recommend the Proline Badlands tires.

yea, im looking at the maximizer beadlocks, but at $50 a set...geez...and im curious, how does the Beadlocks hold up to brushless baloooning and thrashing?

or these
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXVCA3&P=7
for $24 a set

What's_nitro? 10.03.2008 01:24 AM

Very well. I haven't seen a single complaint about tires ripping out of the bead. You just have to take your time and make sure the tire is set in properly. Part of the extra cost is recuperated when you need to replace a tire, or just want to change treads. You dont need to un-glue (doesn't work most of the time) or buy more wheels!

anson 10.03.2008 06:33 PM

I got some maximizer 17mm hex beadlocks with a new set of Proline Mulchers, couldn't get my old set off my glued rims without destroying them, love beadlocks now. I run a 1515/1y with 4S a123 batteries. 20/51 gearing. I also use the Proline gray foams, I think they are the hardest set from Proline. I don't have any problems with ballooning.

It did take me a while to work out the method for putting the rubber on easily, I watched the instructional video so many times haha finally got my method working for me. Can take a little effort to get them balanced but after that its smooth sailing.

Andrew32 10.05.2008 07:18 PM

hmmm im glad to hear the beadlocks are surviving BL power.

I really want to get the maximizers but at $50 a set is outat he question for me right now. I just dont have the funds.

E-Revonut 10.05.2008 11:29 PM

Maximizers work great! 17mm is the way to go. To completely change over your looking at about $110-120, tires, rims, and 17mm adapters. If funds are a problem then your best bet is to replace the tire and rim and get the 14mm hexes off a new E-MAXX or E-REVO, they're steel instead of plastic, or get the traxxas aluminum ones. I kept stripping the hexes on my Revo 3.3 till I bought the aluminum hexes and then no more problems.

Andrew32 10.06.2008 09:45 PM

ok, im geting the maximizers with either the mashers or badlands

question: whats the difference between buying 17mm hex and a 17mm hex adaptor?

anson 10.06.2008 09:51 PM

If your car already has 17MM hex then you won't need the adapter. The adapter makes sure 17mm hex wheels can fit on a 14mm hex car. If that makes sense.

The emaxx, at least the 3906 maxx uses 14mm hex.

E-Revonut 10.06.2008 09:57 PM

The only 17mm hexes that I'm aware of that are made for the Revo or Maxx trucks are the traxxas splined 17mm hexes, everything else IMO would be considered an adapter. I bought a set of HoBao (OFNA) adapters for about $25w/s&h off ebay. Just make sure you use loctite on everything when you do it.

I have no experience with the mashers, I would assume they are similar to the E-MAXX tires. They will last a long time and aren't to bad for general bashing but mith my MAXX Chevron tires the truck had to much side bite on ashphalt and was constantly flipping. I wound up putting Talons on my MAXX. The Badlands are a great bashing tire, they must betaped on the inside though, otherwise they baloon to dinner plates! Truck will still slide on ashphalt instead of flipping and contrary to popular belief they can be used in racing! LOL Maybe not on a dry loose track but when it gets muddy they actually perform pretty well, they don't get caked up with mud. Your tire selection should be based on what your running on. If it's mostly on road then get something better suited for that, if your looking for an A/T that will see alot of dirt I would go with the badlands, if its going to see mostly road and a little dirt mashers would prolly hold up better on the road. Most of all, just get the tire you want! If your not happy, they're beadlocks, you unscrew them and get a different set of tires!

The traxxas ones look to be the same thing as the OFNA's that I have, just a little different in shape and attachment method. Why do you think there is a difference?

E-Revonut 10.06.2008 11:26 PM

The difference is that Traxxas put them on the Revo platinum from the factory and therefor I wouldn't call it an adapter if it comes stock. The Traxxas hexes can be used with other 17mm wheels but Traxxas 17mm wheels can't be used with other hexes. So there are differences. Mostly I just wouldn't call something that comes stock an adapter, just my opinion. Either will work though

Sammus 10.07.2008 02:43 AM

I've superglued hexes in stripped out wheels, making sure all gaps were filled and it was in there nicely. Worked well.

I've used this stuff before but under BL power it still strips them.

i think i need to start checking my hexes often and replace them

Tempted 10.07.2008 02:52 PM

Get some new wheel nuts, I've noticed that was my problem. You want to race this weekend? My friend bought Larry's Revo and we are wanting to race. I'll see if that Pletty guy wants to run as well.

Andrew32 10.07.2008 03:00 PM

cant do anything this weekend. I have a fraternity retreat in N. GA

tuclai 11.16.2008 06:54 PM

You guys think NEU 1515 1.5d, 4s, and MMM v3 with 91/17 gearing should be ok?

seems a bit under geared to me. Im running 22/66 and the motor is still a bit hotter...not by much tho. You will know if it is under geared if the motor is hotter than the ESC.

Andrew32 10.13.2009 01:05 AM

Been a while, but i thought id update on my 3906 a little bit.

Excellent!! Oddly enough I don't think I've seen this build!

Love the grill(s)!

I'd like a better look at the wheels and tires mounted up!
