MMM v3?

So elsewhere on this forum there has been some acknowledgement by Castle of possible case issues and I believe that there has been some BEC issues. So when are the MMM v3's due to come out?

I'm sure I'm about to doom myself by saying this but I've got a working MMM v2 right now and I want another but I'm waiting for the case and other improvements of the MMM v3...just don't know when to buy it...

Anyone have any news on this?

Thanks,

MTBikerTim 09.24.2008 09:05 PM

From their e-mail they sent a while ago it sounds as if they have stopped production until they fix a few more things but I am not entirely sure. Hopefully someone from castle might answer.

Electric Dave 09.24.2008 09:17 PM

Right, that's what I've read as well. Just hopeful that there is light at the end of the tunnel and a MMM v3 is due out "soon".

plaviblue 09.24.2008 10:53 PM

Where did you guys read this. I bought 2 version 2's so when one is in the shop, I can use the other.

George16 09.24.2008 11:13 PM

Just buy another MMM. It's in stock and on sale here at RC-Monster.

I talked to CC yesterday; they have three rigs from people with many blown MMMs, they have been able to duplicate the failures and expected to have solution in a few days. Bottom line, they said it would be about 2 weeks for new ones to be ready.

jnev 09.25.2008 12:17 AM

Thats great to hear bdebde. I was about to order a MMM in the next couple days for my 8ight-T, but I think I may hold out until the V3's are out.... or maybe I should just buy a V2, and send it in later to exchange for the V3. Hmmm...

You can't really go wrong. It may cost you a little bit in shipping but you get to run more.

George16 09.25.2008 02:36 AM

I wonder what they're going to do with the rest of the MMM's out there.

If what they say is correct and that the failure rate is small then it really won't be an issue. Problem is the ones that do fail damage castles reputation and the reputation of the MMM more and more.

The reputation of the MMM locally is pretty bad at the moment cause of my failures but after the race on the weekend and the displays of raw power that rep will be restored.

Happywing 09.25.2008 07:07 AM

I have a new tool in my box...fire extinguisher.

Did they say what was causing the problems?

Nothing specific, just that they were close to solving the issue.

Even if they have figured out the BEC issue, I bet it will take much longer than a couple of weeks. I'm not saying this to bash them but if they are making changes to the case, this means new tooling to mold the cases. That alone will probably take a few weeks plus what ever they have to do for the BEC.

Dagger Thrasher 09.25.2008 10:53 AM

I think they get the cases moulded out-of-house by a moulding company, so once the mould's been adjusted, hopefully it won't take long to get the new cases in.

so i wonder if there is gonna be a V3? i sold my v2 on ebay the other day because i'd rather roll twin-v's right now than risk some of the pics i've seen.

I DO really want this controller, cause it's the only brand name i've seen that has this level of customer service. i think even the new tekin only goes up to 5s, right?

i'm building my third e-maxx right now, and I'd love to be able to drop that single motor mount in thinking they've almost got it figured out but i wanna make sure i get one of the ones that is 100% problem free.

Did you check out Mike sale price on the MMM V2s he has in stock. If that dont intice you to get one then nothing will. And you could always send it in later and get it upgraded

The little R1pro will run 6s now with the correct capacitior upgrade. I dont see why the Tekin 1/8 controllerwould be limited to 5s. We wont know for sure untill its released, but all the talk that I recall has been around 6s limits.

erevo15151y 09.25.2008 04:52 PM

Pdelcast 09.25.2008 05:40 PM

We have made some excellent progress. The case retool started a few weeks ago.

We have identified and fixed several minor issues on the Monster, and will be releasing a new hardware rev, and a new software rev in the next week or so.

The hardware and case upgrade will be free to owners of V1 and V2 Monsters. (The new cases look like about 2-3 weeks more before they are available...)

Its probably your unit that you sent in repaired. I know they are looking at all of the V2s and repairing the ones that are possible. I dont think they have any "replacement" units in stock any more, and probably wont untill the next run which will be ???.

I believe they will be updated with new hardware. I don't know if we are going to wait on the new case (some people have been waiting a while now) or not -- that decision hasn't been made yet....

RBMike 09.25.2008 06:01 PM

Thanks for the update Patrick.

Dagger Thrasher 09.25.2008 06:31 PM

Fantastic! That's great news Patrick, and thanks for posting about it. If you don't mind my asking, what exactly are the problems?

e-mike 09.25.2008 06:34 PM

My sentiments exactly. Thank you Patrick, I can't wait to try the V3. I have a working V2 using an external bec with the escs red wire disconnected so I'm in no hurry and would prefer to get a V3 with the updated case.

Which red wire did you cut to run the external bec. I am going to do that on both of mine.

plaviblue 09.25.2008 07:20 PM

Patrick, does evryone who has a working or non working v2 have the ability to trade it out for a v3?

I think he said it right there.

Thanks for the update, Patrick.

Electric Dave 09.25.2008 07:49 PM

Thanks for posting Patrick. I'm glad a v3 is already in the works. I will be buying at least one or two more when they are out.

Dragonfueled 09.25.2008 08:03 PM

do we have to send in our v2's or will you guys send us out the new cases?

hemiblas 09.26.2008 11:26 AM

Sweet!!!!! Thanks for the info. Even though I will be glad to get my MMM back, the MM with ext BEC is still working great on a 7XL feigao geared 20/68on 4S. FYI, the same combo burned out my mtroniks truck esc (the one that was meant for the emaxx), but the MM is still running strong. I was always afraid to try it, but it stays cooler than my 7700 combo in my rustler. With the 40MM fan I added temps are not over 125 deg on 90-100 degree weather. Thanks Again.

hootie7159 09.26.2008 11:39 AM

great news...and welcome back patrick :yipi:...

TexasSP 09.26.2008 01:28 PM

Great news Patrick. I have a perfectly working V2 with no intentions of sending back unless it poops out on me but will be buying more monsters in the future.

MustGoFaster 09.26.2008 01:55 PM

Thank you for the update Patrick.
It is VERY MUCH appreciated.

phatmonk 09.26.2008 03:57 PM
