My CRT.5

1 Attachment(s)
I will welcome this new forum area dedicated to the mini truggies with a picture of my own ext. CRT.5.

Specs:
RCM Ext chassis(newest version)
RCM Ext. suspension
Revo front shocks(Jato springs)
1/8 buggy front shocks on rear(from a pile of shocks located in the shop!)
Neu 1509/2y/F 1820Kv motor
5s 2500mah battery
Tekin R1Pro esc w/ single 35v 1200uF Cap
Castle BEC

Basically, a shrunk down version of my full sized truggy.

Dafni 09.25.2008 09:53 AM

Nice one, homie!

Can't wait to get that updated chassis. Make sure to throw one of the first batch into my box.

Semi Pro 09.25.2008 10:47 AM

mike what battery is that?

E-Revonut 09.25.2008 10:53 AM

Thanks for adding the mini truggy section! I had suggested a crt.5 section but a mini truggy will do as the crt.5 is the most dominant mini I'm sure most of the posts will be about it. This will make it much easier for me and other people trying to find info about these little beasts. Thanks Mike, for the new section and the whole forum!

Great looking CRT.5 Mike! What are the dimensions of the battery tray the extended chassis comes with? My battery is 149 x 46 x 30mm... hopefully it will fit?

Thanks!

MetalMan 09.25.2008 06:04 PM

Looks great! There are so many items on there I like, especially the chassis braces and dirt guard. Must be nice with your extended arms to be able to mount the front shocks on the shock tower where they were intended to go.

Semi Pro 09.25.2008 06:33 PM

ok second question mike

what are the dirt guards off of?

magman 09.25.2008 06:36 PM

Mike, your truck looks sweet...I am thinking of getting your extended a-arms for my crt.5

Thanks Mike for adding this section to your pages!

nitro_joe 09.25.2008 09:18 PM

HOT Mike!!!! Might have to do the arms next. How does the latest chassis differ from the older RC-Monster extended chassis?

magman 09.25.2008 09:24 PM

The new chassis is longer...15mm longer than his original design, I believe, you get a batt. box., new chassis braces, the center diff is more offset to allow the new battery tray, AL front brace, etc...

Here's the link to the new set up..http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...od=rcmcrt.5kit

BlackedOutREVO 09.25.2008 09:59 PM

Its still 40mm longer then normal, He didnt make it any longer I dont think

On the other hand, DANG! 5s lipo!!!!! That is one SWEET conversion Mike!

Looks awesome

Snipin_Willy 09.25.2008 10:47 PM

I must say, that kit is on my list of things I really want. As well as those upper/lower arms.

RC-Monster Mike 09.26.2008 10:40 AM

The battery is made by DesirePower - it is a 25c 2500mah 5s pack - it seriously over-performs its rating, though. I tested these in my Losi truggy and the little bugger held over 3 volts/cell at up to about a 70c burst(175 amps)! It doesn't even work up a sweat in the crt.5. I have been testing these cells for 6 months or so to decide whether or not to import them and sell them - more sample packs are on the way(of various shapes, sizes and capacities).

The mud guard on the motor side is simply a 1/8 buggy mud guard(most any one will do, but tI think mine is a HB). I trimmed it to the width I wanted and drilled an extra hole in the chassis to hold it on. There is no mud guard on the battery side(aside from the battery box itself).
JNev - the battery tray fits a maxamps size pack and the hard case packs - a touch too small for your pack I think. The chassis layout will accept either of our battery boxes, so pretty much any battery is possible with the latest chassis. :)Also, in the spirit of continual progress, I will likely stretch the next batch of chassis out a touch more - just to make body selection easier. :)

Semi Pro 09.26.2008 11:24 AM

cool thanks for answering my questions

bdebde 09.26.2008 03:14 PM

Hey Mike, if you keep making those .5's longer and wider, you will have to start calling it a .6!

magman 09.26.2008 04:06 PM

Mike, just wondering why you are running Jato springs on Revo shocks instead of revo springs on your crt.5....I am going to order new front shocks ( Revo ) for my crt.5 and am unsure of what springs to get...thanks

.6 is making it smaller:lol:

magman- wouldnt revo springs make it very very stiff for a small truck like this?

BlackedOutREVO 09.26.2008 06:15 PM

Mike any info on pricing for the batts? I am going to be running the same set up ESC and motor wise. Any way I can buy one?

.5 is supposed to mean 1/2 size, .6 is more than half!:rules:

Probably...but, doesn't Traxxas make light springs for the Revo? I will probably try the Jato springs like what Mike has...if he runs w/it, it is probably a good set up.

jnev 09.27.2008 01:30 AM

magman - here is a whole topic on running Revo/jato shocks on the CRT.5. It seems almost everybody is running Jato springs including me.

JNEV...Thanks for the link...it is off to the LHS I go!

BlackedOutREVO 09.27.2008 05:38 PM

Hey Mike, I know I probably dont have a ton of say

But My chassis is 14mm longer then your chassis is. It is perfect! Maybe another mm or 2 on it, but im running a GT2 body, and it fits like it was made for the car. Its almost scary lol.

If your going to start, I think 14/15mm longer is a good place. And also, did you ever finish my dog bones?

EDIT, actually, the more I look at it, I think 17, or 18mm would be even better. Then the front of the body wouldnt stick out to far
