Pics of 3 engines. Which should I use?

1 Attachment(s)
I am getting a conversion kit for my T-Maxx. (A Hardcore Racing one I believe).
Which one of these engines do you think would be the best (fastest) choice? I am not going to be racing. Just bashing. Or would neither of them fit?
One is an XTM 24.7 I believe, the other is a Novarossi .21 and the other is an RB .28.
Thanks.

coolhandcountry 11.11.2005 09:45 PM

I have heard alot of good things on the rb engines. It is bigger of the three as well. But What do I know. :D

Basketti 11.11.2005 10:03 PM

Go with the rb.28!! dont know how the t-maxx drivetrain will hold up to it?

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.12.2005 12:46 AM

The drivetrain will be beefed up of course (eventually).
What size is that XTM ._ _?
Thanks.

Basketti 11.12.2005 02:08 AM

dont know the size of the xtm, but its a good engine, has alot of power and speed. If you wanna go overkill use the rb.28. I dont know anything about the novarossi .21 but the novarossi .28 is really good!

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.12.2005 06:13 AM

Thank you much.

nbcaznmaster 11.12.2005 08:37 AM

rb .28! though you'll have to beef up ur setup. Would u sell ur xtm to me? I think xtm is .24

crazyjr 11.12.2005 12:38 PM

The XTM is .247. All the engines are good, but the RB will probably be the most powerful, the Novarossi is a great 1/8 engine and would run good in the maxx and the XTM is a solid reliable engine and is able to push a Mammoth to 52 mph according to rc car action magazine

From brushless to nitro. He just don't give up. What can you do with him?

nbcaznmaster 11.12.2005 01:16 PM

lol, if i had to rank for bashing. I say.. rb.28, xtm .24, and then the .21 narvosia.

crazyjr 11.12.2005 05:05 PM

I told y'all he wouldn't stop

AS far as which motor, if you are going to bash.I would go with the XTM because the other two are italian hot rods and can be hard to tune

nbcaznmaster 11.12.2005 06:49 PM

maybe! but the hour of tuning for the .28 is WORTH EVERY PENNY!! the power is worth the tiem to tune!

crazyjr 11.12.2005 10:00 PM

I'm lazy. I usually set it and forget it. that is why i like electric so much

coolhandcountry 11.12.2005 10:16 PM

That is if you get them started some time. :D That is why I run electric to. The nitro is all fine and dandy but the electric just has the bam it is there.

RC-Monster Mike 11.12.2005 10:23 PM

I don't particularly like the xtm motor myself. If the Novarossi has a pullstart(which a t-maxx needs), it would be my first choice. The RB .28 will destroy the drivetrain in no time. I am a fan of the novarossi motors. they run very well, tune nicely, and will likely get higher rpms than the bigger motors, which should translate into higher speed.

nbcaznmaster 11.13.2005 10:14 AM

lol, if every1 hates their drivetrains getting destroyed, why do they love brushless?!?!

Sylvester 11.13.2005 10:46 AM

Well, they have fun for a bit, than they have somthing to fix later on:P

coolhandcountry 11.13.2005 10:57 AM

Some of the people even want to go to some big nasty brushless motor that will shread trannies and drivetrain on quick pull of a trigger. Man I got to get me one of them. :p

nbcaznmaster 11.13.2005 11:43 AM

lehner 40 series!! YA!!!! no such thing as TOO MUCH POWER!!

coolhandcountry 11.13.2005 12:48 PM

Do you have a pic of that 40 series. I sure would like to see.

nbcaznmaster 11.13.2005 01:24 PM

i mean 30 series!

crazyjr 11.13.2005 04:41 PM

I believe, if you bash your truck and you don't break something, You didn't run it hard enough

RC-Monster Mike 11.13.2005 06:32 PM

The e-maxx tranny is MUCH more durable than the t-maxx tranny, even in stock form. Plus, the e-maxx tranny can be made nearly bulletproof. T-maxx tranny is not so lucky. :)

nbcaznmaster 11.13.2005 07:09 PM

wuts different between them? they look identical. Is it just cuz e-maxx is built tougher for the extra accelration/torque of electric?

squeeforever 11.13.2005 07:32 PM

you obviously havent seen the 2. a t-maxx is an auto shifting 2 speed for one.

nbcaznmaster 11.13.2005 08:39 PM

well, i have seen them, its just that they look similar. i didnt know tmaxx was auto shifting either.

squeeforever 11.13.2005 11:47 PM

it is. the third channel is used for reverse (just like the revo) instead of shifting like on the e-maxx.

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.14.2005 05:10 AM

So the T-Maxx tranny is no bueno huh? Well that sucks. Do they make Ultramaxxed gears for them or anything like that? Or would a tranny from another truck work with this kit?
Thanks.

coolhandcountry 11.14.2005 08:35 AM

they make metal gears for the tmaxx tranny. I don't know how much it helps with strength.

crazyjr 11.14.2005 09:30 AM

I know Robinson and maybe hardcore make metal gears for the T-Maxx

Gustav 11.14.2005 09:32 AM

Hardcore make a case for it too,and metal gears. You could run a strobe with some slip and a not too aggressive clutch and that might help.

Maybe a MGT tranny could work in a T-maxx.the new ones are all steel gears i think.

There's loads of MGT ones on e-bay.you'd want one from the new 4.6(.28)RTR.

I think it might be too wide to fit between the rails though.Coolhand might know if it's too wide.

nbcaznmaster 11.14.2005 04:16 PM

ALL mettal? wow, that much cost assocaited a bucnh. Too badd traxxas doesnt do that.

squeeforever 11.14.2005 06:42 PM

you can also look on ebay for a used tranny with all metal gears. i saw one with all metal gears and a aluminum case from hardcore, forward only for 120 a few weeks ago.

coolhandcountry 11.14.2005 06:51 PM

The mgt is wider than a tmaxx tranny. It also has the spur gear turned on the tranny to a tmaxx.

crazyjr 11.14.2005 07:04 PM

I saw one with metal gears last week for $80

RC-Monster Mike 11.14.2005 07:54 PM

I have two metal gear forward only t-maxx trannies. Both are in trucks, though!

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.15.2005 04:10 AM

Well I decided to go with the NovaRossi (with a little help from Mike). I got the Savage running tonight with the .28 and wasn't that impressed with it (top end wise). It had HUGE amounts of torque, just no top end. Since I don't race, this seems to be the better choice.
Now if my dang brother can find that conversion kit, I'll be in good shape. He says he can't find it. I'll have to go to his house and help him. I'm starting to get excited.

nbcaznmaster 11.15.2005 07:33 AM

How about u sell me the xtm .24 or teh rb???? lol You shoudl try out the xtm too. Its the "MIDDLE" motor of the 3. Try it !

crazyjr 11.15.2005 08:39 AM

The RB should be stronger than the XTM

Serum 11.15.2005 12:46 PM

Must have missed this thread.. It didn't pulled my trigger, with the nitro things i guess.

Get a savage and throw in that RB!
