http://www.rccommand.com/Bulldog.php Both have metal tracks and drives with smoke, sound, and shoot airsoft 6mm BB's. It will also shoot 6mm paintballs. These will be fun.........:diablo: Local kitties beware! :diablo: Mam, I am sorry but I don't know what happened to fluffy and why he is covered in red paint. I want to have the infrared battle systems put on later so I can get into a battle group. |
I think that this is a project x...
|
now you just need to make it brushless :D

I met the owner of the site rccommand at a local RC air show. He was a good guy and answered all of my questions plus gave me a free shirt without even buying anything. He is on rcuniverse in the tank section under the name rccommand. There were a few sites that had a little cheaper prices and cheaper shipping, however this site came highly recommended and it obviously helped meeting the owner in person. They are also the official US distributor for the specific tank manufacturer that makes these. While not as nice as the tamiya kits in theory, it's heck of a lot cheaper than sinking 1k into one tank. Most guys I have seen modify and weather these things anyway. |
WOW.. that's F*cking sweet.. it shoots BB for real?...
|
thats soooo cool . i hope you will make some videos. i always wanted to see how rc tanks run. imma go check youtube right now actaully haha.
aqwut- yes it does shoot bbs ...plastic 6mm bb's. not the copper ones that bb guns use. these plastic ones are a bit bigger than the coppers. do you know how many fps the turrent shoots out the bb's. i am a airsoft hobbyist and have a few airsoft guns. they are just as expensive hobby as rc's man. the upgrading is addicting just as well. |
i am also in H town. please don't shoot my dogs with that thing! but seriously, that thing looks like fun

Nice project. And yeah, definitely make it BL, and get rid of that crappy battery and charger too. |

Don't know about BL as it doesn't really seem to make since for a low speed tank that relies more on torque. There was some discussion of this in the tank forum on RCU (which was entertaining reading all of the incorrect perceptions of BL) and it just doesn't seem worth while. As for the earlier question on the airsoft velocity it is only around 70 fps, which is rather puny. The upgrade gets you to 170 fps and there is talk of up to 400 fps upgrades in the future. The guys that make these upgrades are located at www.creapingdeathrc.com for anyone who is interested. I liked them just do to the obvious Metallica reference in the name. :yipi: They are located in Grapevine, Texas so being so close I should see them by the middle of next week. Anyone looking for further videos should look up Heng Long as that is the brand. |
Rapid fire capabilities?

Maybe in the future. At this point I want to get them in my hands and work on detailing and ditching the stock battery. I forgot I have a couple IB 4200's lying around in 6 cell configuration. Based on what the tank guys say they get like 45 minutes to an hour with the 2000 packs so I should get like 2 hours with the IB's.
|
Allright!! :yipi: I'm totally looking forward to seeing the build, I'm hoping it not prebuilt .
looks a great time ahead for sure.. How many rounds does it hold ?, what does it fire off CO 2 or compressed air. Top speed ?. Wicked cool for sure…:intello: please post plenty of pictures.. and video, don’t forget the video.. |
It's prebuilt but there are many mods you can do to these things. The firing mechanism is a standard spring type airsoft rig but there are some mods I have read about using CO2 cartridges with Aluminum Airsoft BB's. I think it will require upgrading the barrell from stock to a brass airsoft barrell and then modifying the firing system.
Here is the thread I have been reading on it: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5403595/mpage_1/key_ultimate%2Cairsoft/tm.htm |
So where is it SIR.. Let's see this BAD BOY!!! it's amo and Video (for GOD sake) you must show some video of it.. :yipi:
|
I have both tanks in hand just haven't taken pictures yet. I will try to get them up today. It's a pain as my wife always has the camera.....
|
Pictures finally. Little fun in the dirt and sand. This one is the Walker Bulldog, I will get picks of the Panzer Kampfwagen today or tomorrow. Quick history: The Walker Bulldog was an American tank developed toward the end of the Korean War and never saw real combat. It is remembered fondly though by all crew members.

I will try some good 380 motors first as that is what is in it. Anyone have any recommendations on some good 380 motors that aren't too expensive. The good thing is that this is a blast to operate. On rough terrain you have to get technical similar to rock crawling and I think for sure that some tank racing is in order! I was able to climb well up some good 45 degree embankments with short grass as well. I think with a motor with some more torque it will be perfect! |
Mamba Micro Pro system
I love the tank, you should put some sort of gyro on the turret so it stays aimed at Whatever as the tank spins, climbs etc |
With the boards the tank uses switching to brushless is not cost efficient. I can get well over 1 hour of runtime out of these on 3800 mah batteries and they just need a little more power.
|
:gasp: That’s WAY COOOOOOLLLLL Brian..:intello:..Got any Video!??
Can you please post some video with sound of it running and shooting.. :yipi: Looking forward to see the other one too..  P.S. how long is it ?? how much does it wiegh ?? how fast is it now ?? |
Some picks of the Panzer Kampfwagen III. This is just one of many versions of the Panzer Tanks built by the Germans in WWII. From what I understand the main drive unit (tracks, wheels, motor, etc.) of this tank was used across several models and many versions.

The Bulldog is 15 inches minus the gun and 20 inches from gun tip to rear. The Panzer is 13 inches without the gun and about 14.5 from gun tip to rear. Speed is about a steady walking pace, but hey they are tanks, not race cars. I am trying to find out if I can go with 7 cells on the battery packs for a little more torque. These motors only pull a few amps so I doubt using lipo would net me a real difference and its good to have the extra weight of the nimh to keep slippage to a minimal. I think the weight is around 5-6 pounds but I am not for sure. Some really cool news is that this afternoon I got my wife into them. She didn't want to give up the controls and liked going around shooting everything. I can just imagine that having a battle with 10-12 of these in action is a blast! |
Just wanted to revive this for all interested. I have some new upgrades and pics coming soon. Waiting on some flanged button head M3 screws and a new M3 tap to show up this week to continue the project.
The Gray Panzer III has some new wider winter style metal tracks in and upgraded metal suspension parts. I also plan on doing some water sealing as to run in wet conditions. Not waterproof or made to run submerged, I just want to run in mud and other wet areas without fear of damage. |
you could probably try some stock rc18 motors first. They are like $10 a pop and I thought they were pretty quick. If thats not enough maybe go to a reedy(i think its reedy) stup puller 19t. Thats what I had in my rc18 and it was really fast for not being brushless, but got hot no matter the gearing.
