Damn, JR really knows how to make torque filled servos. I can't imagine any 1/8 scale truck needing a servo like this though... for 1/5 however, I suspect it will work quite well.

t-maxxracer32 10.16.2008 07:12 PM

considering you need a 2s lipo to power it i would say its not exactly for 1/8th.

I think I'd rather have the new Airtronics 94780 that does 423in-oz at 6V and only costs $120.

I have one. Just had to get it, even though it's not currently in anything yet . It will go in my crawler. BTW, Airtronics has been testing this servo throughout the day for the last 3 months. Basically, it cycles constantly between the hours of 7:30am-3:30pm, with a load of about 12lbs. There have been no problems whatsoever, and the servo runs at a constant 150 deg. F measured at the heatsink.

Wow...that's some serious testing.

Wow :oh:

I think I am going to get one for my e-revo. Currently I have 2 94758z airtronics in there but if I get one beefy servo I can have spares for my 10th scale stuff.

I'd love to see the Mini-Revo next to the Revo BL-edition for a size comparison.

Thanks!

So I take it you would need a UBEC to power it? How many recievers can you feed 2s LiPo (8.4V off the charger) into without frying them? I know the Spektrums can handle 9V, IDK about others. I also don't know of any ESC that has a 7.4V option for it's internal BEC.

The price looks pretty good for something of this calibre.

I think these higher voltage servos are directed at airplane guys more than land.

Good. A servo that'll reliably run on 2s. I don't use Ni-MH packs for RX power, and I'm not totally satisfied with BEC's. I'm looking for a servo on steroids for my hyper ST or new project. This sounds pretty good.

BlackedOutREVO 10.17.2008 09:59 PM

Please take a ton of pics of the mini revo!!!

Haha

Unsullied_Spy 10.18.2008 02:12 AM

DARNIT!!! I just bought the biggest, baddest servo I could find for my Muggy and now they go and do this...

Oh well, if I ever get a Baja that'll do nicely in there.

You can always wire the servo directly to a 2s lipo (with a lvc between), and power the receiver with the esc bec. Or buy a ccbec and set it for 7.2v and wire the output to the servo directly.

I did this with my friends axial crawler. He runs a tower pro 995 and we are running it on 7v thru a ccbec, and running the rec with the sidewinder internal bec. Just pull the signal wire off the servo, and plug it into the reciever, then wire the pos and neg of the ccbec output to the pos and neg of the servo... He must have 10+ hours on it so far, and it is still working. Not bad for a $12 servo.

rootar 10.18.2008 09:18 AM

the 230 oz .06 version would be killer but there is no way in hell you need 480oz in anyhting but a 1/5 scale, most all the top drivers are only runnig 125 oz .06 sec servos in both their buggies and truggies........

TexasSP 10.18.2008 11:58 AM

I don't know, I like my hitec 333oz servo for my monsters. Maybe not when racing but when bashing in the rough it sure helps.

That's a good idea. I didn't think of powering it directly.
