Traxxas Mini Revo, thoughts/opinions

Ok well instead of it being so spread out lets gather what every thinks here. From what others said it should retail about $250 and comes stock with brushless. only problem i see right off the bat is the mini sevo......youd think they would have thrown a standard size servo in there to get that kinda problem out of the way.... oh well maybe the Hitec 225mg will fit its a fairly large mini servo but its solid.

we are gonna assume the diffs and drive train are solid since they said itll run 40 on 3s and comes stock with brushless......i would guess they tested it just as they did the revo and new emaxx's.

so what else you got? please if you have pics from Ihobby of them post them.

BlackedOutREVO 10.19.2008 01:21 AM

I need this car!

I will order one very soon. We have till 09, but I will get one on order

Im hoping the diffs are good. Im going to get a NEU 1109 or something, and a R1 speedo. Some 3s lipos in parallel. Should be good

I am waiting to see how the diffs do... I am just hoping that it will not be another mlst.

jhautz 10.19.2008 01:51 AM

Not sure I get the twin batteries on a mini... I get it on the full size revo letting you run 2s or 3s packs for a 4 s aor 6s combo, but onthe mini you have to run parallel packs unless someone gets crazy and sets up a 4s mini.

Other than that it looks pretty cool. I'll say that it will go on the short list and may look at getting one, but I want to see it in real life first.

BlackedOutREVO 10.19.2008 02:06 AM

Yeah do parallel, so it has some decent run time. Not 15 min kind of run time

DRIFT_BUGGY 10.19.2008 02:56 AM

I will be getting one, sick of all this rain. Will use it for bashing in the garage/house

t-maxxracer32 10.19.2008 03:23 AM

once its out ill have one for sure.

gtxracer 10.19.2008 03:59 AM

I think I'll give one a try. They look pretty darn cool. Where does it say it's BL and the price?

You read my mind :mdr:, I'm half hoping it has a dual pattern motorplate (like the E-revo) with a 540 pattern. I have a lehner basic XL1200/quark 80/5s combo i want to try. :oh::whip:

gixxer 10.19.2008 06:15 AM

I am pretty sure I will be getting one. Its either the mini e-revo or the mini slayer. Really both look to be the same car. :)

I told the misses about it already. Will just have to pass it off that its for my son.

make sure you get it and set it up with the fastest batteries right away. then you can tell her well, i think this ones too fast. maybe we should get that slayer for him and i'll just keep this one.

BL_RV0 10.19.2008 10:25 AM

What brushless system does it come stock with? Does anyone know the battery box dimensions?

TexasSP 10.19.2008 12:22 PM

Supposed to be Traxxas' new mini brushless system.

I like the idea for one and hope it holds up. The speed for a mini of 40 is fine with me as long as the drive train can handle it. If it's as good as the new e-maxx/e-revo drive train all should be well and good. I think if the street price is 250 that they will sell like hotcakes!

jnev 10.19.2008 01:25 PM

I will have to get one of these as well. I wonder if it comes with the new Traxxas 2.4ghz radio system... Interesting ideas so far. I am definitely looking forward to seeing it in person.

miniGranis 10.19.2008 01:43 PM

How would this be size wise compared to a stock crt.5 ?

e-mike 10.19.2008 02:04 PM

i will buy one of these little beast for sure:yes:

Looking at the motor, if its a 380, it's smaller than the CTR.5. But honestly it looks like the 540 based VXL motor

brushlessboy16 10.19.2008 03:03 PM

a drop test should be an industry standard..

hold WOT while the truck is in the air then drop it on asphalt... if it doesnt survive it fails...

would have stopped me from buying my duratrax raze

Finnster 10.19.2008 05:10 PM

I don't get the mini's, seem too limited to have much fun with, and for $250 you can get a CRT.5 with 1/8 worthy diffs, real dogbones, 7075 chassis and towers, and a much greater potential for fun. The .5s can even run on a 1/8th track.

Seems like one of those fad things. Bunch of people will buy them, play a bit, get bored, then sell them off.
Eh, but whatever.. as long as you have fun.

rootar 10.19.2008 07:08 PM

im pretty sure from every picture ive found it looks to me to be between a crt.5 and a mlst.....

good point about the crt.5 but thats jsut a roller, this will be much cheaper for batteries and it already has brushless for $250, while the crt.5 will need a conversion, motor, speedo, and batts too. and the trend with them is to make them 10th scale.... lol

id be super happy for it to run 30mph do crazy wheelies and be durable, do care for any faster with cars that small.

BL_RV0 10.19.2008 07:37 PM

This sounds very fun. I've got a KB45 XL can laying around, and also a V1 MM tat handles 5s flawlessly. I was thinking of picking up a e-revo for my next project.

E-Revonut 01.19.2009 03:11 AM

Anyone heard any more on these? Traxxas still doesn't have anything on their site.

GorillaMaxx360 01.19.2009 11:50 AM

here are some pictures from the hobby show if anyone is interested. BTW they are also making a mini slash/slayer thing also. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...0/DSCF0009.jpg

Sweet, do you have any pics from the other side?

I agree that for the price, a crt.5 would probably be a better option for the track. But if you are a backyard basher, the smaller size actually does help. Its hard to bash my crt.5 in my backyard, but my little 1/18th's are perfect for that space.

That being said, I'm still on the fence with these trucks. I think they look cool, but I still believe a properly set up vendetta ST or xray m18mt would blow this thing away (performance wise).

In my backyard my crt.5 barely cuts it. The only reason it doesnt get bogged down is because of the huge amount of power it has. My revo is perfect and my rc18t doesnt stand a chance.

E-Revonut 01.20.2009 05:03 PM

IMO 1/18th scale is useless off road unless you have a purpose built track just for them that in groomed to perfection! I love my CRT.5 but parts availability is an issue. Anything I break I have to order parts and wait. The crt.5 also doesn't do that great on grass because of it's lack of ground clearance, even with 4"+ tires it still struggles. I really want to see just how big this 1/16 REVO is! I miss my rc18t and have been thinking about getting another one. My Micro DT is going for sale, to small, handles like crap, isn't 4wd, and can't even make it over a lead cord, on top of how expensive it is to put a BL setup in it!

magman 01.20.2009 05:24 PM

The truck looks interesting enough...but as stated above, lets see how it holds up to BL power. I personally love the crt.5...I have 2 of them, one for my daughter. If this is truly based on the Revo, which it appears to be, it may be worth while....only time will tell

killajb 02.03.2009 04:54 PM

Indoor carpet tracks with minature golf styled green carpet jumps. No huge amounts of space required and best for winter season in cold areas.

crazyjr 02.03.2009 07:37 PM

I hope for the best for traxxas, But i don't see many 1/18 trucks being as tough as my Duratrax Mini Quake, Using a golden horizions 4800kv brushless, it would do anything a 1/10 would do and do better

killajb 02.03.2009 09:52 PM

Really?? My Mini Quake is probably the most vulnerable of my small scale cars. I've upgraded everything, diffs and cvd's but it won't handle brushless all that well. I stuck with a VR3 motor and 2 cell Lipo, just enough to keep it managable. My Tamtech Buggy Champ w/ Hyperion y-22, Mini Inferno ST and RC 18t are far more stable and durable. But maybe it's just the Mini Quake and mods I have..

Not sure about yours, but mine was the SE. It was the only truck i took with me that i knew would come home in one piece

Silver_Flame101 02.04.2009 01:14 AM

Just for your information, a Traxxas employee said the 1/16 scale E-Revo will small enough to fit on a piece of paper.

killajb 02.04.2009 01:47 AM

I have the Quake SE. While I won't discount your car in any way, it's funny.. That's the only car I DONT leave the house with for fear that something will break.

plettenbergs 02.04.2009 07:52 AM

i want one also...anyone know how much they will be??

E-Revonut 02.04.2009 03:28 PM

It was rumored that they'll be about $250

brushlessboy16 02.08.2009 06:41 PM

New pics!
THAT IS THE MINI, looks exactly like its full sized bretheren
I want one now :)

BlackedOutREVO 02.08.2009 06:47 PM

OMFG! It looks AWESOME!

Cant wait to get mine!!!!!

E-Revonut 02.08.2009 07:13 PM

I'd like to see some comparison shots or at least some measurements before I make my decision. I want another mini but not sure if this is gonna be small enough. I'd also like some specs! 2s, 3s, 4s capable and such.

BlackedOutREVO 02.08.2009 07:15 PM

Tekin R1, NEU 1107, TrakPower batts. Bad ass mini anyone???? Haha
