Mamba monster will not update settings
I have a mamba monster v2 that has never been used. I downloaded the firmware 1.20 and I updated it but it says it didnt get a response from the
controller. After unplug and plug it in again then it reads settings from the esc and says its now version 1.20 but If I change a setting and click update it will say no response from controller. Is it dead? |
Is the fan still working when connected?
|
is the castle link flashing green. Is the link plugged into the esc connector right side up?
|
I tried the esc connector both ways. One way it will just light up red and the software never finds it. The other way the software finds the controller and reads settings from it but will not write any changes it says that it gets no response from the controller.

I had a similar situation. I successfully updated the firmware on my MMM installed in my buggy. When I went to update the MMM in my truggy, the software would initially see the ESC then while updating it would get the "no response from controller" message. I tried unplugging replugging the USB cable with same results. I then figured maybe the USB Castle link was the problem, since I had three of them I plugged in another one and tried updating the fireware again. Success, it worked. So if you can try a different Castle link USB module.

I just tried another cable. It gave the same error. This monster has never been ran ever. And its dead. I did try to see if it would arm and it would do nothing but supply power to the reciever and seros.
Wow there is no quailty control at castle. |
Well this will be a shot in the dark but did you try removing the software from your computer and downloading it again? I had a similar problem with updating my V2 and that was what I did and it worked the second time around.
Hope you get this worked out, Darion |
Either call Castle Creations on monday or send it back to Castle.Trust me its not worth the aggrivation.Yea it sucks to buy something new then it not work.Castle will stand behind their product.I had 3 MMMv1s die and i was VERY aggrivated but Castle stood behind their product. My MMMv1s were replaced with new MMMv2s that all have worked perfectly.Alot of us had to wait 3 plus monthes to receive Monster Mambas that worked properly.Hopefully you will get this figured out in a timly manner.Good kuck

Man, that sucks! Sorry to hear about it. :-(
Before you send the MMM back to Castle though, have you tried updating on a different computer? Just whack CastleLink on to another machine, and try that; sometimes the USB chipsets on PCs can be a tad flaky with this kind of thing, and other people in the past have had failed Mamba Max updates because their computer's USB controller just didn't seem to like it. It might be the MMM, but I reckon it'd be worth trying this to eliminate the possibility; it's very strange this has happened on an unused controller (they're all tested before they leave the factory). My V1 updated fine, though that's not going to make you feel any better. |
LightningTC, sorry to hear it's still not working. Just to clarify when I said I tried a different Castle Link I meant the USB adapter on the end of the cable not the cable it self. See the picture below, I am talking about the adapter in the top left corner on the end of the cable.

yea i tried reinstalling it. I also tried several computers even a couple of laptops.
Oh I dont have another one of those adapters. I just used another cable. |
try and borrow someone elses, if not, just send it in!

There is a few people having this problem now.
|
My did the e-zack same thing and its dead talk to castel they told me to send it back. It was a good speed control before, & I had ran it on 6 cell lipo for 3 months then I tryed to update it now its fryed. so my advice is dont try it .send it to castel and let them update it. they say they are having trouble with other speedos doing this same thing. also i tryed 3 other cables & links still nothing.

Both my MM's and my mamba 25 took the update flawlessly. Just the MMM will not. V3 here we come!
|
Well, how many people had no issues uploading the MMM to 1.20?
|

My V1 seems to have more punch now, quite scary :eyes: |
I just updated my V1 and bench tested it. Everything seems right, I'll run it in the e-revo tomorrow on 5S lipo.

Other than the issue I had updating my MMM on my truggy (which was resolved after I used another Castle Link) I have successfully updated two MM and three MMM.

What do I have to do to get castle on the phone when I call them all I get is a recorded message. I have sent emails in the past but never got a response from a human being just a automated reponse telling you to call them on the phone. WHich all I get is a recording. I have emailed other companies and always got a response. DO they just like to take peoples money and run and hide?
How can I send back this Mamba monster if I don't know where it send it. On the website they talk about sending a check or money order with it..@#%@ that this mamba monster was brand new and it didnt work why should I pay them to fix something they shipped not working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Next, send back your Mamba Monster, but don't worry about a check or money order. Instructions for sending your Mamba Monster back are here: http://www.castlecreations.com/support.html Just fill out the form, and send it in. You don't have to worry about a receipt, as there are no Mamba Monsters that are out of warranty, and all V1 and V2 Monsters are eligible for free upgrade to V3. |
I went to tech support did not get in a queue. All I got was a recording.
I will just send it in using the instructions from that page. |
