Question about V3
i was at my lhs today, and they had a monster mamba there. i know they hadn't had any since Castle halted production awhile back, but the guy there said Castle sent it to them last week. I asked him what version it was, and without hesitation he opened it and there was the piece of paper that said it was a V2.
so my question is, did your new escs have a v3 documentation like the v2 did? i'm wondering how they got a V2 if castle had halted production way before he got it. any help is greatly appreciated. |
If he got it last week, there is no way it should be a V2. Its possible he could have got it from his distributor who might have had some V2's. We havent shipped any V2's for a long time now. Not since we halted production on them.

regardless, you should be able to send it to Castle and they will swap it for a V3.

thanks for the info, much appreciated.

On the box there is a sticker saying V3, Motor Only
|
I placed an order at Tower on Nov.28, Yesterday I got it and it's a V2 !!
That doesn't make sense. Should I send it in for replacement now or wait until it dies ? |

i would have thought tower would have been one of the first people to get the v3's. :surprised: i'm wondering if it might have been overstock or something they found in the warehouse and they just sent it out. |

I've had a V2 Died Brand New, This time a V2 AGAIN!! :grrrrrr: |
Just flash your v2 to the latest firmware. I had one v2 that wouldnt flash doa out of the box. Castle sent me a brand new V3 for it. I bought another v2 and it flashed just fine.
I have ran this flashed v2 hard and it works perfect. For now my brand new v3 is just setting in the box. Waiting for another project of mine. |

When we first started sending out V3's the paper explaining about the how the fan works still said V2. This has been corrected, the paper now says V3. There may still be some out there that say V2 though. The box itself should say V3. We havent sent any V2's out to any distributors in a long time, so unless they were just sitting on some you should get a V3 when you buy a new one.

Felt like I am the luckiest man in the world.
The box seal label says:"ESC ONLY no motor included 010-0062-00". The small paper inside says this is a Mamba Monster V2 AND, The brain board is GREEN instead of blue, with a round label saying May 08, and has NO TVS component beside the coil. ........ When I got my battery plugged, Wooow, electric ARC right in front of my eyes, I pull them apart immediately and there were hot red metal balls spread over my truck and desk, and my Deans male connector has only half length left and looks dark....... The heatsink story is absolutely true! ........ Any way, after replacing the Deans and heat tubing the battery bullet, I updated the firmware to 1.20 and tried it today for a pack, seems worked fine. But base on my experience of my first V2 which just fried itself BRAND NEW, I can hardly stop worrying...... |
I have my v3, the heatsink has worn through the heatshrink on my bullets
2 of the 5 and they are rubbing the heatsink.. i have put 10 packs through it and no problems whatso ever... |
anyone know if A main Hobbies has the v3? I don't want to order now and get V2.

EDIT: IF you get a V2, CC will send you a V3 case for free. Then update the firmware and run the thing until it dies. Then send it back and they'll upgrade you to a V3 for free. |
Not sure why you wouldn't order it from me?

Just to reiterate: Mike pays for this forum with his own cash, no vendor adds here. Mike's cash comes via sells from the website and so forth. So coming on here and asking if Amain has the V3 in hand is like going to Best Buy and asking if Circuit City has Wii's in stock. Luckily Mike is pretty open with his forum and doesn't inundate us with lots of rules and moderation like many, so be respectful in return. To sum it up: Support the Monster that supports us! |
