O.K. so this is an easy one. Kinda lame I know. I just thought it looked pretty dam funny and I had to share it.
(There will actually be no prize given away in this contest, that was just a Joke)

Hmm... A Toyota Prius!! Yay! What's my prize!?

That kinda looks like a buggy, if you just hide the two titans, suspension, and the chassis :L: Is that yours?

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.27.2005 06:55 AM

Yes, that is my other maxx that I am building. I'm going single BL this time and I am trying to make it as light as possible. I am aiming for the 7.5 lb. range. And no, it's not going to stay looking like that.:D Although I might keep the wheels on.

E-Traxxer 11.27.2005 07:07 AM

A good way to keep weight down is to have a chassis similiar to truggies/buggies. Then you can use a center diff and have less bulk. Lipoies help too. What motor/esc are you planning on using?

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.27.2005 07:16 AM

I allready have the 9L and I ordered the 9920 a few days ago. And LiPo will be in the future. (going to have to be if I want to get the weight down to where I want it).
I see you are in So. Cal. also e-traxxer. You must also be an insomniac like me?

E-Traxxer 11.27.2005 07:33 AM

Yup! And hey, don't I win a prize for guessing it right.. a Toyota Prius.

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.27.2005 07:39 AM

Nope, it's a Twin Turbo Supra, you were way off.:D

E-Traxxer 11.27.2005 07:42 AM

No way! That has to be a prius! Let's just split the prize and call it even :L:

Are you going to keep the stock A-Arms, or try to find some that are lighter? A savage-style upper arm would cut the weight down a bit.

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.27.2005 07:56 AM

Planned on keeping the stock arms. I'll have to compare them to my Savage arms. Are they interchangeable?

Serum 11.27.2005 07:57 AM

LOL, that prius and this one might come from the same hand.. THey both make me laugh.. (excusestoallthetoyotapriusownersintheworldwhomigh tfeeloffended)

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.27.2005 08:04 AM

:lol !!

coolhandcountry 11.27.2005 10:37 AM

the aluminum gmaxx suspension is lighter than the stock arms john just for the record
I would lose or do something with the bumpers

E-Traxxer 11.27.2005 03:07 PM

I don't think you can fit savage upper arms on a maxx, I meant that you could make/find some upper arms that are more of a "T" shape, not an "A" shape. You could probably mod a Savage's arm or the maxx's bulkhead. I don't know if the weight savings is really worth all that work though.

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.27.2005 03:35 PM

Funny you mention the bumpers coolhand, they are next on the chopping block. As far as the arms go, I'll probably just leave them stock. All the money for this one is going into the drivtrain.

e maxx I win! Now whats the prize?

What do you mean? That is clearly a RC18B.

Johnny, are you going to get aluminum bulkheads or just keep them stock? I always have problems with my plastic bulkheads breaking..

coolhandcountry 11.27.2005 07:10 PM

What kind of drive train are you going to run? If you get the truck light enough it will not have problem with stock drive train. even with plastic sliders. If you do it right you can get the truck under 7lbs i believe.

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 11.27.2005 08:41 PM

I'll keep the bulks stock. I put some MIP's on it last night and have some steel idlers on their way from Mike along with the 9920, UBEC and heatsink.
I drove it today with those wheels on and it was pretty weird. I'm guessing I will have to gear way up with those wheels if I want to get any type of top speed?

Coolhand, thats going to pretty hard I think to eliminate that last half pound to get it under 7lbs. What do you think?

coolhandcountry 11.27.2005 09:45 PM

Mike said he could get his under 7lbs. by adding the mip and such you are gaining weight as well. the 6mm ue titanium cvds supposed to be lighter than stock just a suggestion.
