3 Attachment(s)
Nothing too fancy, but i think that its the first completed one on here...it has the chassis of the rc8T but the complete front and rear of the rc8 plus some bumpers.....somes pics:
Attachment 5800 Attachment 5801 Attachment 5802 I used an extra Losi 8ight-e battery tray that I had laying around...i just attached it to some pieces of delrin then attached it to the chassis via the delrin.....I'm using a Neu 1515 1/y...MMM....on 4s 5000 zippy's geared 15/46 (it comes with the 46t spur) I'll report on handling, jumping, etc...etc...etc..once I run it tomorrow...pretty straight forward conversion..... BTW...this was my first brand new out of the box from the hobby shop RC since my first stampede.... :mdr: |
Pics don't work.
Edit: Can see the pics now. Looks good! |
First! Good job hootie! Pics work 4 me.

more pics....
Attachment 5803 Attachment 5804 Attachment 5805 this thing actually looks pretty bada$$ with just the roll cage on:yes:... and also BTW, i sold all of the nitro stuff along with the servos/rx/txfor $200....so actually its a $684-$200 = $484 sc8 roller now ( i already had all the electronics...pulled from my now sold spare 8ight) |
Yup.
Looks good.
Wait until you drive this thing on the street!!!! It sounds SOOOO cool. Since the nasty nitro whine is gone, you can easily hear all of the tires screeching. Hit the brakes and AWHHHHRR... The skids are sweet. Turn to the side really fast and the truck sways from side to side (very scale looking)! But the tire noises are the coolest! |
Was that RCM motormount and servo mount?
yes...the RCM motormount and servo mount..
Sweet! very inpressive! and nice roll cage!
699.00 thats alot! These things are soooo expensive.
well....with ups ground shipping.....and $25 off coupon it comes out to around $680 shipped....i sold the motor/tx/rx/servos/and the rest of the nitro stuff for $200 so in all actuality if was a $480 roller....BUT you still need to add your own electronics....
Nice conversion Hootie! I look forward to the reports and maybe some video?
Nice conversion, be sure to update tomorrow when you take it for its first run

....okay...if anyone is skeptical about getting this truck...or are going to get this truck...or are on the fence on whether ot not to get this truck....GET IT :surprised: THIS THING IS BAD A$$!!!!! Honestly I've never had this much fun driving an rc on the track since my when I first got my 8ight....and when i go to the track I usually had another rc with me and so far I've had: Stampede, Rustler, wheely king, 8ight-t, revo, muggy, monster truck 8ight, slash (yes, i did have a slash:wink:), and the entire time I would drive these other trucks for about 1 battery pack and went ahead and spent the rest of the day driving my 8ight:yes: ....until today....this thing is super durable (just as a buggy/truggy hybrid should be)...handles like its on rails....drifts through corners like the real thing...soaks up jumps...and looks super cool doing it....i had it geared for 40mph on 4s with my neu 1515 1/y/f and MMM and everything stayed cool....however, the best thing about this whole session was that the mud guards attached to the roll cage kept the insides super clean....as you will see in the following pics the track was a little muddy but my esc/battery/motor/receiver only had dust on them once i removed the body....Now of course there will be a few CONS as every rc has them...
1.)dealing with 8 body clips everytime you want to change the battery is a PIA....you could either cut off one of the rear braces in the back (my hand could fit right through the front window portion of the roll cage) so that you can get both of your hands in there...or just use the four body clips on the outside of the shell and use the body will hold the roll cage on... 2.)with my bash/race session i found a couple of weak points on the stock body that could easily be fixed with some duct tape placed in strategic areas...if your like me and it takes you a couple dozens laps of landing on your lid doing cartwheels and flips you will want to do this body fix...you will see in the pics that just the front and rear areas need the duct tape on the inside...and this should be plently 3.)the front end of the body kept popping off the front bumper (and this caused the tearing of the body at b/c every time my front end hit the ground, the front of the lexan body would take the brunt of the the force since the body worked its way outside and over the front bumper....maybe some velcro or zipties will fix this...not sure... 4.) THATS IT....:yipi: now here are the pics: Attachment 5835 Attachment 5836 Attachment 5837 BTW, I couldn't stop smiling the whole time I was at the track....get one..trust me...you won't regret it... hope this helps... P.S.= for driftbuggy...you forgot to tell me how insane the 8ight becomes once you put it on 5s...this setup really shouldn't be legal :) |
Nice...could be my next purchase...
I should be getting my KMC version tomorrow I cant wait.I will be usins a Tecno Neu 1515/1.5,MMMv2 and 4s lipo with RCM mount.
I want one even more now.. I have 1521 1y laying around and a new MMM V3 so I have some parts to put in it.. If a couple of my RC's sell I will be getting one for sure..

Here another update....and if I didn't mention this before...THIS THING IS AWESOME!!!!!:yipi:...anyways about 5 minutes into my first go around on the track disaster struck:surprised: and to make thigns short my sc8 ended up submerged top down in a puddle of water!!!!!!! :gasp::surprised::whip: ....BUT after a little dry time (took apart the reciever/MMM) let it dry for a couple min....put it back in and it all worked just fine.....called it a day after a couple of lipos......here's some pic's
Attachment 5843 Attachment 5844 Attachment 5845 i think the mud adds realism :mdr: |
Damn Gina!!! Some one buy my LST or cMX heli.. LOL Amain has a 10% off coupon right now..
Nice info, seems like you having plenty of fun. Pics look great, covered in mud and dirt make the pics look even better
Sweet truck and setup, I will start my build soon. Readbull SC8,MMM,Neu 1515 2.5 D, Polyquest 6000mah 6s. I just hope the battery will fit.
Yup, the mud looks good on the body.
yeah...there no babying this thing.....it takes a beating like a champ...BUT i'm gonna spend the better part of 4 hours trying to clean this thing to get it ready for its next track session...
Whats my options for battery trays? The rest is done all I have to do is sync the radio from the SC8 kit.I fabricated a carbonfiber top plate for the MMM.
you can use mike's battery trays....or if you plan to run zippy's you can ask mike to mill you a custom tray OR use the Losi battery tray BUT it will take some dremeling and delrin or plastic spacers and creative placing to make it fit.....
Thanks I ordered one of Mikes.I have one of Mikes battery trays in my Matrix and its solid.Heres a pic of the SC8

awesome build. i just picked one up over the weekend. What size pinion are you using?
I'm currently geared 16/46 w/ MMM and a Neu 1515 1/y/f....any higher and the wheel spin is too much..well....depending on your track....but I put a 19T for asphalt speed runs and it FLIES!!!....and (i believe some on here already mentioned it) the tires screech when you turn and it sounds just like the real thing!!!:surprised:
:cry::cry::cry: I want one!!! :cry::cry::cry:
Will a set of badlands buggy tires clear under the body?
the diameter and widths of the tires on the sc8 are just slightly smaller in dimension on the sc8...liks probably a couple millimeters...and by the way if you saw how dirty my truck was last week I highly recommend AMSOIL power foam engine cleaner....I waited 2 days before I cleaned my truck and the mud was caked on and hard....I sprayed this stuff on it...let it soak for about 5 min...came back and everything hosed right off...its clean again yay!!!and i went the extra mile and coated everything in RZ-50 (its a dry film lubricant) so nothing sticks when it goes mudding!!...again...
