gixxer 11.29.2005 10:22 PM

I use to have a 125gal tank with a few cat fish, an oscar and an algie eater. well every once and awhile there would also be about 2 dozen feeders in there but they wouldn't last long.

rchippie 11.29.2005 10:25 PM

Those oscars will eat even if there not hungery :L:

tyrewq 11.29.2005 10:25 PM

Maybe you wanna check out www.3onthebay.com
A friend of me just re-opened this board, and he could do with some members. The site is pretty aquarium oriented.

rchippie 11.30.2005 12:05 PM

Skelbow what kind of fish do you have ?.

Mack koi are really kool, how bis are they ?. I've heard some of those koi can be worth alot of money, if you have one of the rare ones.

mack 11.30.2005 12:10 PM

rchippie my bigest is about 60 cm 3years old te smalest about 15cm 1year old the rest is in between and yes you could buy a nice rc truck of my koi collection;)

Gustav 11.30.2005 02:35 PM

I've got ponds in my garden,no fish though but thousands of salamanders (great crested newts and common newts). My whole property is a protected breeding ground for them.

I got these fellas living under my door step. They're hibernating under there at the moment.

edit;won't let me attach pics at the moment,oh well.

camel_rc 11.30.2005 07:15 PM

I've got a 30 gallon container in my garage that my turtle lives in. He lives with two large gold fish that he never ate.

Mack can you take a couple of pics of your koi i would like to see them ?.

GUSTAV how big do those salmanders & newts get ?.

CAMEL what kind of turtel do you have ?.

Trick440 11.30.2005 10:38 PM

I had a 55g Saltwater, then went to a 40g saltwater. Saltwater is the sweetest looking thing you can have in your house. Especially if its an in wall tank. lots of maintence and money but its awesome.

rchippie 11.30.2005 11:00 PM

Salt water tanks are very cool, i think the bigger the better when it comes to salt tanks.

nbcaznmaster 11.30.2005 11:11 PM

my aunt got a 7-year old GOLD FISH! taht thign is ancient! dunno how its still alive, its huge too.

Gustav 11.30.2005 11:24 PM

hippie,i've been trying to attach some pics of them but they're too big to post.

The newts here are great crested newts. The biggest one i've measured is a female at 16cm.That's one of the one's that lives under my front doorstep. That's approaching the upper limit for them and one that size is probably getting on for 27 years old.I wear a big xenon headtorch when i go out at night so i don't tread on them(they're nocturnal and very slow on land).

They spend most of their lives on land and mainly go in the water to breed. They just started hibernating a couple of weeks ago.

I have a 55 gal tank with an oscar, a goldfish, and I had a pecostamus that just died that was about 11 inces long. Still haven't figured out how it died. Guess I shouldn't have named it Voldemort. I would love a salt tank but if I can't keep these fish alive I haven't got a chance. Might as well get a killer sub to fight the Oscar.

rchippie 12.01.2005 12:03 AM

I've heard salt tanks are fairly forgiving to mistakes, when they are established. I dont know if this is true.

OZARK i think the oscar might win that fight :L: .

I have had fish tanks all of my life. I got my first saltwater tank when I was 14 years old. It was 65 gallon long tank. At this point I am down to one tank. I only have fresh now. The tank is only a twenty long. Filtration is provided by two marineland penguin660 @ 340GPH, through an undergravel system. The filte hood is a Marineland eclipse system 3. I features an integrated cartridge filter and an active bio wheel built in as a complete unit. The eclipse moves about 250GPH. The combined system polishes the water @590GPH, considering its only 20 gallons thats alot.

I love a well maintained Salt water tank. I chose fresh becouse of the ease of maintenance.

Red eared slider, found him in the drainage ditch behind our house about a year ago, pet shop think's he's about 5 years old because of how big he is. His shell is about as big across and long as my 18MT's dimensions, prob. bigger though because he loves to eat......and sometimes get's a taste for blood so my brother buys some cheap feeder fishies.

rchippie 12.01.2005 12:46 PM

I figured that was the kind of turtle he had but was'nt sure.
