castle sensored esc comming?

I'v herd a few rumors, but nothing offical, is it true that your coming out with a sensored esc within the next 6 months?

suicideneil 11.25.2008 03:26 PM

Dunno about in the next 6 months, but they are working on an 'MambaMaxPro' - 5s lipo support and sensored motor support, maybe a switching BEC too. Rumours are fun...

Arct1k 11.25.2008 03:44 PM

Sorry guys but Patrick already confirmed that although he still considers a non sensored motor/esc superior CC are making a sensored setup.

This was many months ago but no ETA. I think the MMM, 1/8th ocnversion kits and Traxxas deal will have kept them busy.

lincpimp 11.25.2008 03:48 PM

I would really like to see castle make a sensored sidewinder size esc with a 1000kv outrunner with a sensor, perfect for a 2.2 crawler, or use 2 for a clod based super class rig... I cannot really complain though, the sidewinder and 833kv outrunner I have is really good. Super smooth startups, and it only cogs when I have the truck going up a steep incline. Drag brakes work great. The bec is a bit weak, but I am running a 9000t servo so I use a ccbec to power it and the radio (another great product from castle)!!!

I am sure that Patrick (and everyone else here) is sick of me posting this...

whitrzac 11.25.2008 04:40 PM

ok, its nice to know that there working on it, but is there ANY idea of when it will be out?

Dagger Thrasher 11.25.2008 06:53 PM

No-one outside of Castle really knows, although I imagine it'll be soonish as it's on the Special Projects site. If I recall, it's still going to be primarily a sensorless system but with a sensor port...mainly for use in rock crawling, according to Patrick (and of course if you want to use it for other stuff too). Should be a nice ESC.

Now that you mention it, you have mentioned it A LOT!

I found it

E-Revonut 11.25.2008 09:24 PM

I don't think you'll see many dates getting put out by castle anymore after the delays and frustrations from people waiting for the MMM. At least I know I wouldn't be!

whitrzac 11.28.2008 07:20 PM

well, joe said the "he can't talk about it" if its not for sale, then stoped replying to my emails....

beeing a cashiar on black friday:diablo:

Lee Estingoy 11.29.2008 12:26 PM

Guys, this controller is high on the to do list.

We get bashed for not releasing a product, but we do have a learning curve around here, sort of. This one will be released when it is ready. Not likely to be in production form for 2 to 3 months.

Lee

whitrzac 11.30.2008 12:12 PM

ok, so it will be here eventualy? mabey by the end of 09?
need any beta testers??

i want to be the beta tester for the canada,quebec...:intello:

Lee Estingoy 11.30.2008 01:52 PM

Sure hope it is before the end of 09.

Look, we get in trouble for giving out info long before the products are ready to ship.

Let's just embargo the whole sensored controller thing until we're ready to ship. Nobody gets their hopes up only to be unintentionally hurt when we experience delays.

Nobody wants to see our development projects done more quickly than we do!

Thanks,

Lee

whitrzac 03.04.2009 09:06 AM

updates???

Joe Ford 03.04.2009 06:34 PM

None yet.

e-mike 03.04.2009 06:41 PM

why a sensored esc???dont need that:whistle:

johnrobholmes 03.04.2009 07:56 PM

You don't, but I do, and racers do because of regulation.

e-mike 03.04.2009 08:13 PM

arrrfff ok now i see:yes:

Sorry -- I'm under a full gag order. Not allowed to tell you any of the juicy, very very cool details about the Mamba Max Pro.

I'm not allowed to tell you that the sensor usage is fully automatic, and that it uses a hybrid sensored/sensorless system.

I'm also not allowed to mention C.H.E.A.T. mode (Castle High Energy Advanced Timing) which can boost output power by up to 40% for short bursts when using ROAR type racing motors. (trades power for efficiency in racing applications -- on demand.)

I can't tell you about the 25mm integrated fan, which is removable for use in dirty or dusty environments. (For BrianG)

There's also a switching, programmable output 5 amp BEC (adjustable from 4.0V to 7.0V in .1V increments), which I am not allowed to tell you about.

Oh, and one more thing -- I'm not allowed to tell you that it is usable up to 6S input voltages.

So stop bugging me, I'm not allowed to tell you anything about this product.

It is a good thing that you are allowed to tell us when it will be released!

J/K, thanks for not telling us anything, I do appreciate it. Any chance you can not tell us what kind of current spec it may have?

Well I'm not allowed to tell you that either, BUT I can direct you to a website with answers.

http://www.castlecreations.com/csp/c...ntrollers.html

But you didn't hear that from me!

castlemike 03.05.2009 08:07 PM

Way to go guys now I have to yell at Pat in the morning for giving away secrets and then hope he doesnt fire me for yelling. :diablo: At least he didnt mention that its powerful enough to push an 1/8 scale around with no mods and yet can also run a sensored stock motor with the best of them.

Dagger Thrasher 03.05.2009 08:12 PM

Ooooh...this thing sounds awesome! C.H.E.A.T has really gotten my attention...and an adjustable BEC? Man, that's even better than the Monster's. Sounds like the only step-down from the Monster will be current handling, which would obviously make sense.

Sounds like a formiddable unit...

lincpimp 03.05.2009 08:33 PM

I do like the sound of this esc... I need a few for my clod and other crawlers so I can run some low kv sensored inrunners... Pity that I do not have a neu based motor with a sensor setup to choose from... Maybe a 1406 sized motor with an 1/8 shaft, kv around 1100...

johnrobholmes 03.05.2009 08:36 PM

If you are using something sensor based, why not just pop up to 2000kv and get more power? Keep in mind that a slotted motor like the neu will start up with a good pop as it breaks the magnet/slot attraction. It won't be as smooth and slow as a normal roar sensored motor.

FastXR 03.05.2009 08:39 PM

Man that sounds awesome, I'm glad you couldn't tell us anything about it after all that would totally ruin the suprise.

Metallover 03.05.2009 08:40 PM

Maybe the new outrunners from castle could have an optional sensor system...

whitrzac 03.06.2009 09:30 AM

:surprised::gasp::oh:good to see that you didn ruined the suprise:yipi:

take a few hints from tekin as far as profiles:wink:

the cheat mode sounds like the timeing boost on the 189 softwere(tekin), very cool:yes:

I will never sell my tekin, but I think I found whats going in my buggy... or will I have to wait till next seson to put it in there?

ravin 03.06.2009 11:59 AM

Hummm... maybe some low kv motors to go with it?

whitrzac 03.06.2009 03:09 PM

so can I go tell the world about this, or keep it quiet...

Arct1k 03.06.2009 04:02 PM

Personally I like the tip bits so would prefer this stuff not be broadcast over every forum - otherwise the result may end up being the knowledge flow ceases.

my lips are sealed:great:

kulangflow 03.06.2009 05:28 PM

Just got an e-mail from Castle indicating that they're looking for beta testers for the new Mamba Max Pro. Survey submitted! :-)

Their new ICE air controllers have built in data-logging. That is so cool! I can't wait til that feature finds its way into the land controllers.

brushlessboy16 03.06.2009 05:45 PM

We're also ready to release the new Mamba Max Pro 1/10th scale car ESC to beta car/buggy drivers. This unit is an incredible leap forward for the Mamba Max. The most obvious addition to the feature set is a sensor port that will allow users to run their sensored motors with the Mamba Max Pro. No, we haven't sold out. Racers wanted sensors and we've come up with a way to use the good points of sensors (there are a few) and then combine them with the dynamic timing that we've always used for our sensoreless mode in order to bring the absolute best of both worlds to the car guys. The new controller also features a high power switching BEC, a cooling fan, and operation up to 6S.

gixxer 03.06.2009 06:54 PM

sounds great. I especially like the adjustable bec.
