Is there a support group here somewhere?

I just went and bought a pair.....ummm....of....titans. :gasp:

There, I said it, its out in the open......

I bought my nephews 3905 (complete setup with a Novak 4.5/2.4 Futuba). He demagged the motor somehow, so I'm going to set it up as a wet weather truck with the stock crapola on it.
Talk about going backwards.

Tempted 11.29.2008 07:44 PM

Yeah, theres a support group. Its called the TRX forums; 10 minutes there and you will want to get out of the hobby!

BL_RV0 11.29.2008 07:46 PM

So true!

E-Revonut 11.30.2008 04:03 AM

Don't run Lipos on stock esc and drop the gearing big time! Otherwise something will go up in smoke

JThiessen 11.30.2008 01:47 PM

Already dug out the nimh packs, and it's seriously low geared (about 23:1 right now, stock gearing is about 18:1). I'm sure I have some other gears laying around but couldn't find them.

BL_RV0 11.30.2008 04:30 PM

I bet the titans were what? Like $30 each?

Nah, they were 19 something each.

We went out this afternoon, and I took my MMM/Neu-LESS Revo (with the Novak back in it) and the 3905. I spent most of the morning reconfiguring my A123's back into 2S packs so I could use them with the Novak. First pack, about 15 minutes in, I sheared something inside the tranny on the Revo. So I get out the 3905, and ran thru 1 and half nimh packs.....then I decided I'd have more fun just taking pictures.

Oh well, had to try it.

On a good note, it was the only truck to come home in working condition!!

suicideneil 11.30.2008 08:50 PM

Nice to know that the quality of traxxas' products is still shite.

Why not go for the banebot 550 motors at $5.50 each, or the keshaw motors to give the truck the power it deserves (albeit brushed)?

Anyway, glad you had fun- the weather here is far too horrid to do any driving.... :(

JThiessen 11.30.2008 08:56 PM

Wasnt much better here...at least it wasnt raining though.

RCM members shouldn't let other RCM members regress! I've got a HV 4.5 motor with no home here. I think it would like to be closer to the ocean. When I sold my HV Max setup I sold it as a 6.5 and kept the 4.5.

Nice pictures. I got another body too? LOL

Those must be the ramps you bought. Look like some decent hieght and travel off them. What's are your thoughts on them now that you had them a while?

JThiessen 11.30.2008 09:43 PM

Guy, your killing me here.....!
I was almost going to ask if you actually used a real dictionary....saw one of those a while back!

This was actually the first time we used them. The ramps worked ok. Tried them as singles at first....that wasn't such a good idea. After we put them side by side they worked great. We'll pick up a couple more - Sports Authority had them for 29 bucks apiece. They stack together for storage, and fit in my outside storage easily.

Tempted 11.30.2008 11:39 PM

Oh man you gotta build your own ramps! Not quite as neat, but way bigger!

JThiessen 12.01.2008 12:47 AM

Yeah, those would be nice. But we dont have anywhere to leave them. Have to be portable.

Gee 12.01.2008 01:05 AM

I made my own but it's not something I would want take home to mother. A bit on the heavy side and the language of a sailor. Be nice to thow something in and take with you that doesn't require oversized springs on the rig.

Jeff, I do have a Novak HV 4.5 motor if you are interested in one for your new/old emaxx.

That was actually the first time I used the internet for a dictonary. Couldn't resist cutting and pasting it.

Tempted 12.01.2008 01:15 AM

You can build them with hinges. Then fold them shut when you are finished. The benefit to this would be an ajustable incline.

crazyjr 12.01.2008 07:01 AM

The comments were funny, but i don't see anything wrong with titans. Before i made the brushless jump, I had one of the fastest MT's in my area, with titans. Of course this was in the TRX .15 pro days as well. I ran each motor on a P.S. for 30 minutes at half voltage, oiled the bushings after cleaning and used prolong oil on the commutator (kind of like the tribotech trick used on stock motors. I could pull the fastest Tmaxx down the straight

bruce750i 12.01.2008 11:52 AM

I wouldn't try this with a brushless system. I'll be using titans when it gets nasty outside this winter.

BL_RV0 12.01.2008 08:04 PM

That's bashing....

JThiessen 12.01.2008 08:50 PM

That's a lot of cleaning....:intello:

Time for high pressure wash! A car wash works well, but beware the strange looks you'll get!

I can see it now...a line behind you as you pressure wash your rc car...:yipi:

BrianG 12.01.2008 10:39 PM

You laugh, but I did that once. I put my muddy nitro Revo in a car wash bay, but ran to the change machine to get quarters. I get back and there was an old lady in a Buick waiting her turn. The puzzlement on her face as she peered over her steering wheel at the itty-bitty truck in the bay was priceless.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl

You are lucky she even saw it and did not run it over!

BrianG 12.01.2008 10:50 PM

Yeah, that's true. I don't even know why she was waiting as there were two other bays available. Must have been her favorite or just an "old person" thing...

BL_RV0 12.02.2008 12:16 AM

I was holding back cracking up reading that...
