Cool. Surprised he snapped a cv joint. Must be that heavy nitro finger.

Yeah...I am surprised too. I didn't use Mike's extended suspension and CVDs in my build but I can't imagine that they would snap too easily. I never have had any trouble with my stockers and I was running 3S with a Neu 1509 1.5D. I wonder what type of surface he was driving on? The article shows a picture of the truck on loose dirt...doesn't seem likely that a CVD would break under those conditions unless it wasn't assembled correctly or unless he was "load testing" and bashing the snot out of it.

It seems the builder was very happy withe the product though despite the broken cv-joint. Nice job Mike!

DRIFT_BUGGY 12.01.2008 06:08 AM

Sweet, has any mag done a review on RCM motor mounts on others?

RC-Monster Mike 12.01.2008 11:40 AM

The snapped cv joint was a result of installation error. :)
We may well see the RC8 or RC8T chassis kit in a future issue. :)

Wow! That is cool. I didn't know you were making an RC8 chassis! Good to see your products getting so much exposure.

I knew it had to be an installation/assembly error because your cvds are beefier than the stockers and the stockers hold up well under quite a bit of power.

Rnemhrd 12.01.2008 07:52 PM

The mini mega donut. Good job Monster mike!!!! Time to let the world see your stuff.

BL_RV0 12.01.2008 07:57 PM

A vxl system? Pity... Also, what's with the shot w/ all the donuts and coffee?

Unsullied_Spy 12.02.2008 12:49 AM

I went out and bought the issue today just for the article. I was disappointed to see a VXL in there, you can do a whole lot better than that! The author gave it a pretty good thumbs up though.

Mike: Any idea when you'll be getting more of these chassis kits in? I really want a CRT .5 but the only way I'm getting one is with your kit

What's_nitro? 12.02.2008 02:23 AM

I think they went with the VXL for sheer simplicity. I'm not saying others are complicated, but it keeps things "to the point", as opposed to getting too far into "We chose this motor and this ESC because...".

Oh- Congratulations to Mike! :yipi: It's nice to see your stuff attracting some well deserved attention!

The crt.5, RC8 and RC8T chassis kits arrived from heat treat Saturday. Unfortunately, they did not meet my standards, so I sent them all back for re-anodize. :(

GO-RIDE.com 12.02.2008 12:31 PM

Mike,

Which annodize did you go with? I read either black or hard anno.

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear they weren't up to par. Good luck

RCShocker 12.02.2008 07:22 PM

Congrats Mike !!!!

Which issue of RC Driver is the "review" in?

Is it on newstands now?

I know when I was researching for my CRT.5 build, there were MANY people that used the VXL system. Which is plenty for the masses.

RC-Monster Mike 12.02.2008 07:45 PM

The chassis are black AND hard anodize.

That's too bad Mike, I was looking forward to the new crt.5 chassis. I applaud you for having high standards. More business need to follow your example. If business in general had higher standards, quality control, etc, companies would run much smoother w/fewer problems.

Sweet, I'd rather wait a little longer (closer to my next pay day ) and get a RC-Monster quality part

Indeed. I've got a few different pieces from RC-M and they are all great. They are obviously engineered by a real RC enthusiast. I had a problem with a gear that I bought not being properly hardened, shipped it back Monday and had a replacement before the weekend

I agree...buy something once that is quality, or buy something else and...

Your last sentence is exactly what I was referring to...

BL_RV0 12.03.2008 07:48 PM

Quality is always worth the wait.

Now if you can just get them back in time for me to use those holliday discount codes on them. LOL.:intello:
