Flamethrower is working!..
So I got my Flamethrower working :intello: and I just thought this was so cool I needed to post it here for the general public.. It’s a quick 60 sec video!. :gasp:
One lessened learned is I should have soaked down the truck in lighter fluid before filming / OOo well Next TIME!:lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2dPHRwnqQ8 Thanks for your time and Bl_RVO yours MGT is next (Think about it!) :yipi: :na: Have a great one everybody!.. |
Not bad, but it lacks range- have you considered some kind of super soaker type flame thrower- that would be most awesome....
|
I know I can only get about 16" I piss out a steam about 2-3' under the flame, I just cant figure it out it, maybe I need to change my bottle, I've been told to try hairspray ?? :eyes:
|
We'll see about that. I'm going to run a sheetmetal-armour rollcage and aside from the internals getting hot from lack of airflow your flamethrower will have no effect on me unless I just sit there... lol.
|
lol thats great

Well I’ve got video of my trying to drive it at any real speed with the flame going full strength and all it did was catch my body on fire!, :oh:  so NO I cant use it unless your still or perhaps you’ve broken down  and maybe a slow limp! HHHaaaa, HHHHhaaa :intello: Quote:
|
What if you're in reverse?

Haha, nice. I expect a monsterous flame next time though.
|
Maybe try putting a fan behind it or compressed air to help push the fluid further and for a hotter more efficient burn.

And you call me the sick puppy!!! :intello:  Actually I was thinking of a rear spraying system, that way I can get them with gas and then the flame just need to touch them!... A little something for a surprise later perhaps :lol: Quote:

Thanks for your time Sir |
Cool vid! But I agree, making that crap RC flammable will be completely necessary next time .

Neil, I think you are on to something. Maybe there is a way to mount a "STAND ALONE" battery operated super soaker filled with flameable liquid (mix a little dish washing detergent with it so it sticks to the target:diablo:)...and once the target is soaked, then let them have it with the flame thrower. Doesn't matter what they do at that point...they will be on fire until the liquid burns off. Just a thought...but hey this is awesome progress in it's current form. BTW...here is another vid I found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5ZUt...eature=related |
3 words... axe body spray... the main 3 ingredients. Alcohol, isobutane, and propane... ive shot this stuff and u can get a real huge flame
|
"axe body spray" haha you won't be able to get the women away from it.
My vote is for ether aka starting fluid, short of that I think a windshield washer pump would do 8 or more feet easily, just need to use a combustible that won't melt the impeller. Hint: NOT gasoline.... |
Oops.... I meant brushless windshield washer pump.

That is great man . I love this project. |
Any kind of spray paint works and makes about a 4' flame...
|
that thing looks like a fun project

LOL.LOL.. don’t put it past me! I was actually thinking about using an aquarium pump, but I also like the idea of the windshield wiper pump ?? I just don’t know about the electrical requirements for that ?? I know I can fab up a fishbowl pump!.. I’ll keep the team posted!, I’ve got another 3 weeks to add at least one thing to the beast!, that should guarantee me “ Build of the year!” LOL.LOL Have a great one Sir.. Shaun. Quote:
Thanks sir.. yes I've seen that video, I do like his reach 3-5' he used lighter fluid / gas(that bastard!).. LOL.LOL.. I wish I would have thought of that!.. Quote:
Three little words back (I’ve tried it) didn’t work… I spent money on just about any product I could find that is: Main requirements: 1. Small in size 2. Aerosol 3. Flammable I needed to start some where so I figured out the foundation of the flamethrower is the fluid, so which fluid will give me a consistent ignition and large (3-5’) of flame when demanded upon. Well here is a photo of the all different fluids and hoses that were possible canidents for routing as / would be required. First off the: WD-40 (Really didn’t do it for me) it only worked about 45% of the time (it only shoot out a steam, if when it’s the mist it’s goes 100% of the time. But that was one of my hurdles to overcome; it had to be a steam of gas or fluid. Therefore it was a contender.. Power green Gas (This I use for my Mac 11 mag, landmines and grenade for my launcher). Anyway it was just too big in general and it’s pressured @ 400 psi so I figured I really shouldn’t go there anyway.. Bugoff (Outdoor aerosol can that read flammable) Well its NOT!.. NEXT… this was a big waist of time and money.. Pam. Worked Outstanding 85 percent!, BOOOO, Booooo.. I was hoping to use this but I needed 1000%.. Next! Coleman (camping fuel) This is NO!, NO! NEVER, I repeat NEVER!!! Attempt to use this with this system.. BAD things happen.. It does not keep a seal vertically (ooppsss).. Yes I found out the hard way but at least I still have my eyebrows.. LOL. Axe body spray (it an aerosol can that read flammable) Well it’s not but the spray tip / part is and can be used!, I repeat this is worth the price just for the tip mechanism alone. I didn’t use it in my build but it can be used in yours.. Colibri (Butane lighter fuel refill) This stuff worked toooooo GOOOOOOODD I couldn’t use it, to strong it sacred me!.. (Remember!) I have a 4s 5000 mAH lipo and a 3000 psi air tank that works my paint gun so if this goes wrong it will go wrong fast and in a BIG TIME WAY!.. Silicone Oil Spray: (This stuff worked Great) it was a runner up!, but failed to make the final cut do to the fact that it had a high flashback (IE) when it’s off how much still burns on the tip (not a good thing!) and it was liquid!, I really wanted to gas.. I didn’t want to leave the burnt trail everywhere I shoot it!. But a great 2nd alterative if your on dirt all the time!? A strong contender.. Tag Worthless!!.. But I’ll be irresistible to the ladies (so they tell me!) LOL.lOl Right Guard (Body spray) Leave it on the body!, it’s worthless for this application!... Pure All (Auto Air conditioner Oder Purifier) Ding!, DING, we have a winner!!!! This shoots out GAS!!! (yes!) and it gets cold when it benign used, Yes another plus for me. The thing that really took it over the top was the fact that the trigger mechanism would work (OUTSTANDING!! GREAT!) for both the servo mech and feed to the front / top discharge! But it does have a medium flash point! (Not a good thing!).. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...7/IMG_4152.jpg P.S. Sixth comment from the bottom.. Thanks anyway though!.. Quote:
LOL that’s funny but It’s the kids at the park I need to keep away for it!.. LOL.LOL.. Yah 8’ is too far 5 max 3 ultimate.. Thanks for the idea on the windshield washer pump, I'm looking to aquarium pumps and this one tomorrow, I'm just a little concerned about it’s electrical requirements. We’ll see regardless thanks for you throwing them out!! And PS.. YOU GOT ONE BITCHEN BUILD!!! Quote:
WOW sir that a huge compliment coming from you!! THANK YOU!! I still remember watching and reading everything you ever did on the Traxxas forum, you inspired tought me to build my E-Revo and didn’t even know it!.. So really thank you for the compliments Sir!.. Quote:
You know I never tried Paint?? That’s a great idea.. Thank you Sir.. Paint and Hairspray.. Quote:

what about modding one of these?;
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=91033 with this?; http://www.castlewholesalers.com/BER...-Cylinder.html give up with these alcohol based perfumes and go for some propane! |
That's great! Your right I think soaking the other one first would of helped your frustration level when it didn't burst into flames. You were frustrated weren't you when you ramed it?
Excellent work Shaun! |
Nice work Shaun, awesome vid (i did dee it in the Battle Truck thread ) As for a more powerful flame, an easy/cheap trial could be just spray on deoderant. I know when i want to light a mirror on fire or something thats what i use :diablo:
|
Quote:
IF you call me sir again I will be forced to fly to california, buy a radio with your frequency (I noticed no dsm :oh: ) And turn your battle truck on you:diablo: :na: I loved when it was not burning fast enough and you rammed the other truck. burn dammit, burn, you could feel the battle trucks frustrations.. |

I'm thinking a small Coleman propane tank would be the ticket. Or you could use a 9oz paintball tank and a blow-through style delivery system for gasoline.
