8ight conversion
problem
I'm instslling mikes motormount in the 8 and realized the center diff has to be turned backwards (from normal) so the spur gear reaches the pinion...is this correct the center diff can run properly in the backwards position? |
yep the center diff can run in any position
|
Yep, center diff has to be turned around.

It has to be run backwards, there is no motor out there with a shaft that long to run it around the correct way

lol..I found that out the hard way.....had the new motormount installed real nice used blue locktight and went to put the motor on and said.....somethings wrong.......but its not just a matter of turning the diff around...you have to take the diff apart to switch the drive cups and bearing around also because they use differant size bearings and the motormount will only work with a certain one |
Hmm, thats weird. All I did on mine is turn the diff 180*, and it fit right into the motor mount and diff bulk...

the car wheelies all over the place in the back yard test......seems like the front diff is not pulling enough.......what diff oil do you guys suggest?
its running a 1512/2.5d on 5s zippy 4000mah 25c-35c geared 48/14 steering on the eight is amazing....going to the track in an hour or so to test it |
Nice conversion! With a 1512 2.5d I'd go with 50k or lighter. I found 100k to be the magic number with my 1515 1y. anything lighter and it unloaded too hard, anything heavier and it was a wheely machine. The 1512 makes less torque so lighter oil in the 30-50k range should suit you well.

I run 7.5'ish (a mixture of 10 and 5) in the front of my Mugen and 5k in the rear. As more of a basher style driver I find this perfect for me. I live by the go into the corner hard and use power to pull me around it method of getting around the track.
If I were a clean line style driver I would go a little lighter, 5-7k front and 3k rear. your driving style will be a determining factor in what oil you want. We all (you, me, and hoov) need to finda common sunday to hit up traktopia ! and one of these sundays you will have to drive down to the yamato track. |

so I take it that means the 50k goes in the center?...right now I only have 3k in the center...its all I have at the moment |

something is wrong. does your center diff spin in your hand? are you sure its 3k? it almost sounds like the CD didnt go back together correctly and wound up locked. |
