R/C Monster center diff UE FLM Cybermaxx

I posted a build thread over on the kiddie forum to make them drool, and then I felt bad that I hadn't shared with you guys yet. So here's a link to my truck, you see, I didn't want to show you guys till it was finished, but I got anxious. http://monster.traxxas.com/showthread.php?t=447925

Oh yeah, THAT IS THE CLEANEST BUILD I'VE EVER SEEN!

Nice job! But if you were anxious, why not post HERE first??? And I'd call it done if all you need is the battery!

I forgot to post that, they are FLM combo bulks with ue 8 spiders, thanks for the compliments guys.

Nice truck. Will mike be making more of those centre diff mounts? I need one like yours for my LST2.

_paralyzed_ 12.06.2008 06:57 AM

i believe he is, there's alot of new stuff coming keep checking the store

JERRY2KONE 12.06.2008 07:48 AM

yes.

Yes I just spoke with Mike about this exact item, and he is begining production on them so he can sell them in the store. He will not give any kind of date, because he does not want to put himself on the spot if he runs into a problem trying to get materials or anything else that may hold up his work. Maybe in a few months or so we might see them for sale here on RCM. Hey Harold I guess you just could not keep it a secret huh?? It is a very nice looking build as I shared with you yesterday. Now get to work and finish the project so we can see how it operates. Now you have put yourself under pressure with everyone in here wanting to see it run.:intello::lol::yipi:

theres no thread specified...has it been deleted?

sleebus.jones 12.06.2008 01:21 PM

Must have been deleted due to extreme awesomeness, I guess.

I never got to see it. :(

BL_RV0 12.06.2008 01:56 PM

Me neither. Harold, let us see!!!

_paralyzed_ 12.06.2008 02:14 PM

fixed the link, but here it is again if you can't find the top of the page

BL_RV0 12.06.2008 02:26 PM

Nice. Where's the esc going to go?
Why aren't you dying anything? I think it would look better black.

sleebus.jones 12.06.2008 03:36 PM

Looks like that's going to be realllllly front-heavy. I'd flip the diff assy around (if you can) to get that motor more center of the truck.

esc goes between the reciever box and center diff on a shiny integy maxx center skid plate that sits atop 4 1 inch standoffs, I'll probably dye it and black it out after it gets dirty, for now, white lightning!

sssp concepts built a couple http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10233 and he says the motor is better forward, otherwise it'll jump nose up, and I couldn't fit the esc plate and reciever box in front of the diff

suicideneil 12.06.2008 03:54 PM

I cant see that thread, as Im IP banned at the idiot forum- got a link to the pics else where?

magman 12.06.2008 04:57 PM

Very nice! The center diff/motor. combo is the way to go.

See What You Did???

See what you did Harold, now they will never leave you alone. Now you will have to answer questions and commments every single day until you get it done. It is looking great, but I know you still have a lot that you want to get done on it. Good luck and keep up the great work Sir.

What was I thinking? I just couldn't keep quiet about it, but I've been sitting on this build for about a year. Fun stuff.

Very rad build! I didn't know any of the rollcages were compatible with the FLM chassis. Like you mentioned, mounting the motor forward and using the right diff fluid helps with handling. I can't wait until Mike releases the slipper diff he is working on. I hope he also makes a center diff mount for the various Gorilla Chassis that are out there.

It's an extended nitro roll cage, and wasn't a direst fit, nothing a dremel couldn't take care of. Thanks for the help in getting me here.

Wow that is pretty!!

I like how one of the Traxxas dudes compared your one of a kind "White Lighting" to a stock looking 3905 with some bolt-ons and a few stripped anno parts.

yeah, some competition!

BL_RV0 12.10.2008 08:27 PM

I was really on the wall deciding which of those 2 I liked better, but in the end I decided the 3905.

jnev 12.11.2008 02:42 AM

Very nice build. Looks real pretty. The Traxxas forum is quite comical to read every once in a while.

BL_RV0 12.11.2008 10:42 AM

Very true... I used to go on there to look at the FS forum but I realized that when I got out of traxxas products there was no point. Also, that FS forum is full of scammers.

pasan 12.22.2008 06:32 AM

That's a shelf queen if I ever saw one. If only you could have a transparent housing on the ESC as well, maybe an LED or two light it and the servos up at night. Very clean without being too bling.

_paralyzed_ 12.22.2008 11:41 PM

ha! Thanks, but she's no shelf queen. As soon as I get batteries and a charger I'm gonna mess that truck up!:intello:

Rivermaxx 01.08.2009 03:48 PM

Any updates? very interested how that center diff works as far as acceleration and braking. Also would like to know what gearing you plan on running? What size is that motor? I am doing a similar build with a hardcore titanium extended nitro chassis. Converting to brushless.

I'm still saving for batteries and a charger. It's geared 14/46 with buggy diffs, that's geared for 60mph on 6s. It's a kb45 8xl 1700/kv motor. RC-Monster is supposed to be making the center diff soon, and it will work with any maxx that uses the standard rectangle center skid plate. Depending on the chassis length you may need custom driveshafts, but you're in luck, Rc-Monster makes custom driveshafts! Welcome to the forums!

Rivermaxx 01.08.2009 05:56 PM

I did the speed calculator and with 44t spur and 12 tooth pinion with a neu 15151y 2200kw on 4s is going to be about 40mph and 65mph on 6s. I wonder if the the pinion being so smal will hurt any thing. With the 44tooth spur I dont have too do any cutting on the chassis or braces. Thanks for the welcome I have been here for a week learning all i can to do this conversion. I am a regular on the ue Supermaxx forum and want to try electrics again with the latest brushless technolgy. George16 is the main reason for this expensive adventure. Thanks lito lol. I have a nice collection of nitro Supermaxxes and wanted to try somthing else.

The pinion should work. I'm worried about the same thing with my gearing. I definately wouldn't go any smaller. 65mph with a big truck takes huge power. I'm pretty sure I'm overgeared, but I want to put the kb45 through some torture. Just check temps often until you know the gearing is okay. Start a thread and show off your supermaxxes! We'll give ya crap for running smelly nitro, but we all love r/c!

JERRY2KONE 01.08.2009 06:33 PM

Welcome.

Hey there RiverMaxx welcome to the RCM forum. I thought that I recognized your sig when I saw your post. Nice to see you making the switch to BL. It can be a lot less work once you do your conversion. No fuels, no starter gear, no glow plugs to deal with, and no tuning to do. Yea Lito is trouble isn't he? You have to watch out for those Navy guys. We hope that you will enjoy hanging out here with the BL gang. There are a few pretty smart people here with tons of good info, and there are also some pretty funny guys as well right lincpimp. Its all in good fun though. I used to spend a lot of time on the UE site, but once they started abandening us and stocks dwindled it was time to move on. That is too bad since the UE gear is some nice stuff. We have a lot of it here. Anyway good luck with your project and have some fun.

George16 01.09.2009 12:03 AM

Welcome to the dark side Rivermaxx :lol::lol:. I'm glad to see you around. Just don't hesitate to ask any questions. There are a lot of smart and witty guys here.

Are you still planning to use the extended hardcore chassis plate?

Hey guys, Thanks for the welcome I have been reading in this forum for about a week and have learned so much about brushless. Allthough I have not given up on nitro completly I wanted to do somthing different for a change. Back in the day (20+years) ago my first real rc car was a carbon fiber chassis rc 10 with a twister engine it was fast back then ~30mph. Yes I an going to use the Titanium hardcore chassis and probably a center diff if I can get mike too make me a mount . I emailed him yesturday but he hasnt replied yet. If not maybe I can make my own on my buddys mill. I think it will be a good base for a brushless convesion light strong and plenty of space for batteries and ecm. Speaking of batts what do you guys think about running 3 2s lipos instead of 2 3s. I am thinking I have more options like runnung 4s,4s2p 6s or 6s2p & 4s4p if I buy 4 packs. I am pretty sure there is room to run 3 lipos.btw sorry for the high jack. Btw Ue is supposed to start making part again but well see.

suicideneil 01.10.2009 12:50 PM

Nothing wrong with having 3x 2s lipos, you will just have to fabricate your own series harness for that setup- diagrams on BrianG's website. Just have to figure a clever way out to mount them really.
