Chargers

Im looking for a decent, all around charger, this one will do more than i'll ever need, because my E-Revo some day will be 6s, so its perfect. Is it a decent charger, and what power supply would i need to get?

That charger will work fine . But it will take a while to charge because of the low wattage . this charger will charge your lipo faster . It's what me & alot of of other members use .

I understand but it's only a few bucks more & you will never have to buy another charger . It will be able to charge your 6s lipo at a much higher amp rate than the other charger . Ask for other members opinion on which charger is better .

I'm certain that you won't be happy with the 0606i, it's a good charger and all but not for a dual battery setup such as the e-revo. You said that someday you'll run 6s so I'm going to assume for now your running 4s. The 0606i will charge a 2s pack at up to 6amps so 2 hours to charge 2 seperate 2s 6000mah packs. If you where to go to 6s (2x3s) 5000mah is the biggest pack that will fit. That same charger will only charge a 3s pack at about 3amps so it would take about an hour and 40 minutes per pack! I know this because I started with the eos 0606i ac/dc charger. I now run a eos 0610i duo with an 18 amp Ofna power supply. It will charge 2 3s packs at 1C without a problem! The charger is costly but it should meet your charging needs forever!

Converted nitro Revo

E-Revonut 12.08.2008 11:43 PM

Single 4s pack then I'm guessing. Means the most the charger will charge at is 3 Amps so if you have a 5000mah pack your looking at about 1:45 to charge the pack, 6000mah will likely take about 2:10

i'm really happy with my EOS0610I . I'm glad i spent the extra cash and went with quality and power. it's powered by a 25amp radio sack power supply

Arct1k 12.09.2008 07:13 AM

The 606 is limited to 50W which is why it is slow - It is still a very nice charger - Just a bit slow on bigger packs...

Go to hobbyking.com (hobbycity.com) and pick up a Turnigy Accucel-6 and IMax 16A 14V power supply, all for under $80.

Duster_360 12.09.2008 07:54 AM

The Accucell-6 is a nifty little charger - I've been using one for about a month and it is a very featured charger, will pretty much do everything. Its limitation is that it's only a 50watt charger. Within that limit though, its hard to beat, especially given the price.

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...r_&_discharger My buddy just got 1 of these.It seems to work good.With http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...y_for_Chargers it's around 120 shipped,and will give you a 200 watt combo.

trev3813 12.09.2008 03:23 PM

I found a Hyperion EOS0610I 250W 6S 10A for $150

e-rev project 12.09.2008 03:38 PM

apparently the EOS0610I is out of production already, its being replaced by the EOS0720i http://media.hyperion.hk/dn/eos/

pedeboi364 12.09.2008 03:55 PM

no means to thread jack here so will someone pm the answer to me?? ok, so my Q is will this 50w charger can supply the power to charge 2x 3s1p (6s) 5000mah at 5amps?? how many amps should i look to get?? thanks all!!!

dirt101 12.09.2008 05:22 PM

I just got an 0610 and it is SWEET. I would definatly try to save up a couple of extra bucks so you can get the 0610. Just make sure you get a PS that can put out atleast 200W, as right now Im stuck with 100 watts which isnt all that bad, but it is definatly limiting how many amps I can charge 5/6s batteries.

pedeboi364 12.09.2008 07:23 PM

what power supply will give 200w?? will the 16a 14v one linked in this thread do the job?? thanks, sry 4 jacking

BL_RV0 12.09.2008 07:34 PM

Any of the charge/balance hobbycity chargers are good.

pedeboi364 12.09.2008 10:43 PM

so i can use my 50w, 5amp turnigy accucel-6 to charge my 6s lipo at 5amps??? Power supply gives 16amps and 14volts

dirt101 12.09.2008 11:02 PM

16amp X 14V= 224 watts. thats plenty of power.

jnev 12.10.2008 12:45 AM

You want to remember to factor in 80% efficiency, so it won't quite be 224 watts...

BL_RV0 12.10.2008 10:54 AM

Yeah, most chargers don't have the efficiency we brushless motors do. We're so sophisticated. :mdr:

pedeboi364 12.10.2008 04:02 PM

...my lipos put out 420watts (100a 25.2v) im just really hoping thatll work so idont have to spend a lot. Thanks

dirt101 12.10.2008 04:49 PM

haha...I dont know where your getting 420 watts. but your lipo should put out 2,520 watts if those figures were true. because of voltage drop you may get 2000watts out of them, but that doesnt matter anyways. its all about how many amps you put into them when charging.
Say you were to charge them at 5 amps. your going to need a total of 111 watts. battery VoltsX charge rate(in amps) = watts needed.
as stated earlier you need to factor in the chargers 80%(rough figure) efficiency, so 111/.8 = 139 watts.

pedeboi364 12.10.2008 04:58 PM

...yay, so i need 112+watts now?? cool, i got an answer!! well, thats 120dollars for the charger and supply... i hope LOL, thanks guys

dirt101 12.10.2008 05:11 PM

I would recomend getting atleast 150watts. that will give you some good head room

pedeboi364 12.10.2008 05:13 PM

im getting the turnigy accucel-8.
