Heard a rumor?

I just read on another forum that Thomas from tech support has said that Castle motors will be R.O.A.R approved for the mod class of the 2009 racing season. Is this true?

LOL!

I kinda doubt it, as they concider ROAR legal motor designs to be inferior to their own (and they are at the moment).

The way I read the post on the other forum it was not that Castle built a new motor to meet ROAR but that ROAR was changing the rules and approving the existing Castle motors.

EDIT: Decided to call Castle and by luck I got Thomas. According to him ROAR has told Castle the CM line of motors will be approved for the mod class of the 09 season.

It would make sense. ROAR can't ignore popular vote too long...

way to go castle!

I think a little credit should also be given to ROAR for finally opening up that door of thiers a little.

Now all we need is to remove the 4s limit from the e-classes and all will be well and good :)

Let me clarify...

Right now the CM36 still won't be legal -- because of a couple of very minor rule conflicts with ROAR (for example, the manufacturer's logo must be stamped or molded into the end-bell under the current rules -- we have a solid aluminum end-bell, so we have always used stickers.)

We will be making some minor changes to the CM36 motor in the future to meet the ROAR rules for Modified.

That said, there is a possibility that ROAR may allow us to grandfather in existing CM36 motors... if we make the changes to the CM36 in the future.

Here I'm speculating, but ROAR has allowed exceptions in the past, and we hope that ROAR will allow existing CM36 motors to be raced under the Modified rules -- there are LOTS of CM36 motors out there, and it would be a boon to Modified racing if the CM36 was allowed to compete.

Absolutely. There were a couple manufacturers that tried to bully ROAR into keeping modified "closed" -- and the ROAR board stuck to their guns and didn't bow to pressure.

Great job ROAR!

I bet that included a lot of childish pouting/sulking, foot-stomping, and whining "It's not fair"...

Are we refering to the N-type and T-type brushless groups? Glad to hear this. Does this mean you guys are going to make the motors rebuildable?

Stock motor? Pleeeeeeease? Roar needs to change the rules to allow Delta winds in stock class. I want to use my CC scs in stock class. Don

The future's bright, the futures.... green. :)

Yup, Green is all most will see when the bashers come out to play

SpEEdyBL 12.12.2008 09:59 PM

It's about time. I disagree that cms36 motors are superior in design to the current roar legal motors. They are just different and have different powerbands. At least we may see some advancement in brushless motor technology as a result of increased competition between brands.
