Winter Project's "Post Em Here"
Ok decided to make a thread dedicated to winter projects for 08-09. What we would like is a description of your project, its purpose and build pics of course.
Ill start first... 1/5 MCD Plow Project. Made just for the hell of it basically. Hoping to make shoveling a little easier. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...U/monster1.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...U/monster2.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...U/monster3.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...cture001-2.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...cture005-1.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...cture006-2.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n.../Picture-1.jpg |
No pictures yet, but I'll be building a Hot Bodies D8... just sold my 8ight, and the D8 is on the way to me. :yipi:
|
Savage XL direct drive to diff conversion- trading MGT for a almost new one.
|
6x6 1.9 tire scale project. Going to have a wrecker type bed that will have servo actuated tilt and slide function. Waiting on the chassis from Reign, and some tlt axles. Have a pede tranny, motor, and a dx5e radio to control everything. Also need to build a scale 1.9 truck to park on the back of it. Most likely get a semi cab for this, or maybe use a high lift or blackfoot cab...

I got 5 I'd like to do this year, not sure which i'd start with. 3 i have here and just need parts, one i have half the parts and the other is a new truck.
1. restore my G2R revo conversion, its been beat to hell in the last three years (officially on dec 20th) and its one of the first, if not the first Gorilla conversions ordered and shipped by Mike. My plan is to get a motor that is better at 4s lipo (lighter weight) since most here use the Y wind, I'll play with the Delta winds. 2. fix up my twinforce, broke a c-hub off the axlehousing, as soon as i find a piece I'll get it back together. Thinking of a different power combo for it as well, the 2250 is really too much for it 3. convert my 8T, been wanting to do this for a while. Thinking about using the 1515/2.5d in my revo right now on 4s with tall gearing, I'm pretty sure it can handle the gear, only going for 35-40 mph 4. I want two of the X-factory X-60 mid motor chassis conversionsfor the T4, One for my racer (2s lipoed mamba 4600) and the other for my e-GT 5s Beast 5. I'd like to get a summit and run my 2250 on it, but the others are cheaper to do right now |

Are you referring to Reign R/C, the guys that make crawler chassis? If so, small world. Those guys are locals here. Kaetwo is my friend's cousin. They do killer work. You won't be disappointed. I guess my point is neither here nor there. It's just cool to see guys you know in one world associating with guys you know from another world. ..... uh, yeah. /Offtopic Winter project: I'm buying a 1988 Toyota Celica AllTrac Turbo IMSA GTO Champion edition (only 79 made). I've wanted one forever ... or about 20 years, whichever seems longer. Finally found one in decent shape (not riced out, rusted out, etc) for only $3k, so I'm jumping on it. Should be loads of fun in the snow around here. http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z..._4683Small.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z..._4684Small.jpg Winter R/C project: Thin down the collection. Possibly sell my AX-10 and pick up either the Venom Kreeper or the new Losi 2.2 crawler just for a change of scenery. Word. |
Well, I got my Blizzard running the other day. I had to steal one of the Sidewinders from the Berg 2.2 (NBD since I have nowhere to crawl right now anyways), and mount up the batteries.
I also did a little modding to the tracks: Take this--- http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4...d/DSC00267.jpg Subtract this--- http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4...d/DSC00269.jpg You end up with this! http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4...d/DSC00268.jpg And now you don't slide down the side of an snowy/icy hill and flip over every time!!!!! |

I have a k2-5 chassis and i really like it. I am just getting into 1.9 trucks, and should have about 3 trucks worth of parts here soon. I think it will be fun! |
Nice projects guys, and kulang it can be anything, not just r/c.

I guess my new Blizzard is a winter project of sorts also. Every time I take it out, I end up with some sort of problem to work out. No broken parts or anything, just issues like the cab coming off (finally fixed I hope). chains or tracks coming off, or the never-ending brake adjustments. I put 120K diff lock in the diff yesterday and that seems to have helped. I'm also modifying things to keep it as dry as possible inside. I need to get a new 3s battery that will fit in the body. My FP packs are too long and make the body not fit properly. Yee-haw! |
The new tracks work pretty well. I managed to get a run in before the rain started yesterday. Much less sliding. I'm running 8 cells NiMH in mine with the HH Crawlmaster. It's a little slow with the 1000kV outrunner so I might have to get a 3s pack. I have a CRT.5 body that I'm gonna put on it once I get some posts. It's the perfect size. Consequently, I found that body to be the perfect size for my Berg 2.2, and the little F103GT EDF car that I have. All three require different trimming so I need to get a couple more bodies.

E-Revo is my project
|
Are you actually going to finish it?
|

Thought so.

I need to cut way back on RC spending for '09 but I'm still planning on a couple things.
1. Get better with helicopters and hopefully get my cp+ in the air under control! 2. I want another mini-slider, never should have sold mine last spring. I took second for the season with my mini late-model and want something a little more challenging. 3. Before spring I need new diffs in my E-REVO, 6s was brutal on them. If I can swing the hybrid diffs thats what I really want but if money doesn't allow I'll use some al diff cups and put some new stuff in there. |
Never really got into helis. I had an axe ez and it broke quite often.

A little off-topic here as well, but I've wanted to pick up a cheap small car like a Civic or something, remove all body panels/doors/hood/roof/pass seats/carpet (pretty much any non-essential items), and use it like a dune buggy kind of thing. Then mod it so it looks more like a buggy. Would be MUCH lighter so the 4 banger should have no problems launching it. The only thing holding me back is a place to play - I need a bigger yard...
|
I'm sure you could find an open field...
|
Not many open fields near me as I'm in the middle of Des Moines...
|
My winter project is a little different from the team overall goal!,:oh: but that OK because I'm a little different!.. Just ask most of the people who know me!. HAHAHhahahahaaa…
I'm winter project is to build the cheapest, coolest, most reliable 3rd world wheel chair. Adult and child’s in existence!. I hope to have both adults and children’s chair complete by February, and then I'm heading to Unisef and united way to see if they like it and will implement it into needed nations. My 09 goal is to better humanity! And the only way I now how to do it is to build a better, cheaper, more reliable wheelchair.. Wish me luck!.. Have a great one guys… TDC57 http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...s/IMG_4289.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...s/IMG_4388.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...s/IMG_4391.jpg P.S. I get the rest of the weekend to add that Moster touch!.. (IE) that means it will look NOTHING like it does now come Monday!. HHAHAHAHAHAAAaa.. |
Nothing that can compete with TDC, but I'm mostly trying to get all my RCs into good running condition so I can wreck them again in the Spring.
My main project right now is converting a Traxxas Villain to brushless. Not the ideal boat for brushless but I'm experimenting. http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/DSCN1633.jpg http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/DSCN1637.jpg http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/DSCN1650.jpg http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/DSCN1660.jpg Got it for $85 used, it's in reasonable shape but lots of rust. I'm waiting on pinion gears from Kershaw Designs (Mike doesn't carry them big enough) and then some assembly and it will be driveable. I'm thinking it'll need a new water pickup, perhaps even a 2nd one, and it will definitely need turn fins and I'm trying to find water jackets that'll fit those tiny motors. |
the only thing i have planned is once i get the rc8 done , i plan on getting a t4 , and getting it set up with a nice little brushless system for club racing , i am thinking a mamba max and a traxxas vxl motor (?) for 2s use
also if anyone has a nice t4 roller , lmk , i will be looking closer to spring though , thanks |
Mine isn't brushless either but...I am sending the engine in my 1/5 scale gasser to Oneill Brothers for some massive porting work.
