new E-maxx or E-revo?
 
hey guys looking to get back into the hobby and wondering if the E-revo is worth the extra $ for a basher? I don't race will be going with the cc 2200 combo also.lmk what you think.

From everyone's opinions here, people love the E-Revo..I personally beliieve that the base platform is better all around in the Revo. I own a Maxx and would rather have a Revo, if that tells you anything

maxx uses just too old concept and needs lots of strenghtening. revo needs just couple things to handle even the hardest abuse (aluminum rockers, shock ends and caps). add RPM arms with true-trak rear and u got ultimate electric basher truck.

my maxx can handle any abuse but the price was kinda high :)

I would go the e-revo. Have bashed both a fully hopped up 3906, and a stock revo, the revo is very strong in stock form, and doesn't really need any critical upgrades, unlike the emaxx.

the revo is a better platform IMHO. I too owna maxx...and its awesome, but i had to upgrade alot.

Why dont you wait for the brushless edition revo and youll get the 2.4 radio too!

I have both in front of me. The e-revo is far better than the emaxx and in my oppinion it worth the extra money

What's up Phil? Good to see you around again. I have to agree with all that is being advised. However, with that being said, I personally can not find any love for the Revo.

I traded a very nice paintball gun for a 2.5 Revo with plans to convert it to BL but did nothing with it. Drove it twice in maybe 10 months. Then I traded it for a BP Maxx.

Bought a new E-Revo this past summer. Drove it once with a big smile on my face. Had alot of fun, very easy to drive, great handling. That was that. Never drove it again. Sold it 5 months later.

Still got BOTH my Maxx's though.

Maybe the 3rd time would be the charm with a BL E-Revo. Cant really see me going that direction again though. Unless maybe with a Summit but I highly doubt it. Too many crawlers & buggies out there these days.

MAxx trucks are great, but the revo has the handling advantage. Driveability is better. I have 6 maxx based trucks and a pair of erevos. If I could have only one truck to run, it would have to be the erevo... Worth the extra money IMO.

oh almost forgot that BL Savage will come out in January 2009 which may be the best bashers option.

Unless they fix the diffs, savage is still flawed. Plus I dislike the battery mounts, and the general layout is not really weight optimized.

If losi makes a bl lst, we will have a winner. Honestly, tdr makes a single speed adapter and a motor mount. Swap in the FOC kit losi makes and you have a solid super smooth single speed tranny and motor brakes. Ditch the brake and reverse servos and there is good room for a battery tray. Much stronger than a revo or maxx, strongest drivestrain I have seen, plus it has the motor mounted transversely which cures torque twist.

I have converted all of the above and the savvy is going up for sale soon. I will keep the flm savvy, but I need the bulks flm sells, I have fixed too many savage diffs. At least the X cases are easier to open, but not as easy as the lst. The lst does not need easy to access diffs, casue once they are in the al cases they are done till they wear out. If you run 40 series wheels/tires they will be fine, if you run std mt stuff they will last forever. No better truck, and no need to upgrade the lst2. Maybe rpm arms, but I dislike the use of the original lst rpm arms with shims to fill the wider hubs of the lst2.

I have owned several E maxx's. Built them, broke them, upgraded them, modded them and loved them.

Then I got an E Revo. The Revo handles MUCH better. It's suspension is much better. It has a lower center of gravity and it's tougher.

Get the E Revo. You won't regret it. :yes:

I've had both the E-MAXX(3905) and the E-REVO, as well as nitro versions of both. Ran both is stock configuration and also both with a MMM/8XL. E-Maxx requires upgrading and still handles like crap next to an E-REVO. Wait a month and get the Brushless Edition E-REVO. The wait may suck but is by far the most cost effective option. You'll have what everyone else has built so far! If you plan on running more than 4s you might be better off building your own and going with a lower kv motor.

I Have the same feelings as you. I have had a t-maxx, both emaxxs, a savage, an e-savage, the E-lst2, and the e-revo. I had the lst2 finedesigns conversion and loved it. It was the strongest truck I have owned(sold it b/c I needed the money and it needed an overhall after 2 1/2 years of abuse). Second would be the savage for streangth( except I had issues with the diffs and tranny gears when I went brushless)(thats why I sold it) A close third would be the e-revo(driveshafts and rear bulks suck). I put mip cvds on it and so far so good. Holding up to brushless very well!

I say go with the e-revo too. The thing can handle 6S brushless goodness without much drama, unlike the e-maxx which on 4S is already a handful. The e-revo is just a good basher as the e-maxx, and the only upgrades you'll really need are rpm arms, and a metal rear skid plate if wheelies are your thing.

I will never get another Emaxx or Tmaxx unless they are severly updated. They are "cool" trucks. Like a new school Mustang. Looks awesome but lacks in the power department and it has way out dated equipment.
I would highly sugest getting a EREVO over any other RC if you can afford it. Get a Erevo, Spektrum radio, RPM true track, and a Mamba Monster 2200kv motor and esc. You will need some quality batteries too. You could wait until January 16th and buy the "EREVO Brushless Edition". They will sell for around $680ish and you will get the 2.4ghz radio and the Mamba Monster set up. I bought a Erevo roller off ebay, as well as a used Spektrum radio and receiver, RPM TT kit, got the Mamba new, and some two cell 4900mah Flight power EVO250 lipos. I have about $650 into the truck and that is cheap by todays standards. I am cheap and look for deals. Tell Mike what you want and he will steer you strait.
I have had alot of trucks and if you want a no hassle set up get a Erevo. Conversions are cool but its so nice to have a common truck when it breaks. I'm sure you will be happy either way but I break emaxxs faster then erevos. I hate wasting time fixing stuff when I can be driving.
