CEN Nemesis 7.7 conversion

Hey guys just bought a new one this week and going to convert it asap. Does anyone know if someone has a conversion motor plate for it?

The nemesis uses a full centertrans and external 2 speed. you would need a custom peice and a 2 speed adapter if you plan on using it:intello:

Crap.....I wasn't planning to use the 2 speed. All I need is high gear...

Fill me in I have not heard anything negative.

FineDesign is very unpopular due to the fact he has poor customer service, poor motors (XLT), and generally sells poor quality, baddily designed custom parts, that are crap. Getting a refund or replacement for faulty items, especially electrical ones, is a nightmare- avoid him like the plague unless you have no other choice.

Moving swiftly on... didnt a dude custom make a Nemesis chassis and what-not only a short while back? Might be worth digging out that thread...

EDIT: Clicky

hemiblas 01.04.2009 07:30 AM

Wow I read the thread. so he burnt 3 mgm speed cotrols trying to get it to work and then finally gave up. Seems like he might have been a bit overgeared for such a large truck from his speed calcs. Looks like a great build though.

jzemaxx,

Contact aqwut, he has some sweet looking CEN conversions. Here is his homepage is you want to see some of the things he has made: http://www.geocities.com/aqwut

I'm wondering if the motor mounts the Savage's use will work?? The Nemesis/GST and savage's both use the TVP style chassis, so it should. Who makes the motor mounts for the Savage's??

BL_RV0 01.04.2009 10:09 PM

Finedesign makes a savage motor mount. Just a thought- would a slightly modded FLM savage kit work?

jzemaxx 01.04.2009 10:19 PM

Have no clue on the FLM kit. The Nemesis and GST's are big suckers.....

If anything it would have to be an XL chassis. Even by those standards I doubt it would work to well.

If it's not a perfect fit, you might be able to get it to work. It will all depends on how much wider the two plates are then the Savage.

I saw finedesign just uses motor clamps. Not a real mount per say....

BL_RV0 01.04.2009 11:23 PM

Yeah. They blow.

jzemaxx 01.04.2009 11:37 PM

I do like the battery trays though that I need as well. But mine have to fit two 4S's....would be nice if some company made these.

BL_RV0 01.05.2009 12:22 AM

They would be simple to make yourself, or I could make them for you.

I don't have time to make battery tray's...lol. I rather just buy them...

Hey man, just stay away from those trays, the al that FD uses is very weak, and they just scream of CHEAP... I bought 2 of them and was not impressed, plus it took them 1 month (to the day) to get them to me...

jzemaxx 01.05.2009 01:40 AM

Well all I need is two tray's to be able to hold and protect a max of 2 X 6S batt's and I can add fillers for the smaller batt's.

93firebird 01.05.2009 07:48 AM

how do you make the mechanical brakes work in this setup? that is without using the third channel, I plan to keep the reverse on it as well.

Use a Y harness for your ESC and the brake servo.

Have you looked at the long versions of the 6S lipos packs JZ? The CEN's chassis looks long enough to fit one on each side. That way you will keep them as close as possible to the chassis. The only problem is that you'll have to make the battery holder yourself.

JERRY2KONE 01.05.2009 11:27 AM

Motor mount.

Why not shoot MonsterMike and email about the motor mount that you require and see if he is willing to make one up for that truck. Yea he is a little bit busy these days with some other projects, but you won't know if you don't ask. Just a thought.

E-fanatic 01.05.2009 07:02 PM

I loved my finesdesigns lst2 conversion(made a few modifications to make it bullet proof) But over all it was a good product. Now him as a bussiness man, horriable! I have lost about $450 total and it took me over 1 year to get my esc from him! The lack of standing behind his warrenty is what finally stoppped me from going there.

Too, too funny. First you reccomend the fd mounts, then you say, "Yeah. They blow." You, sir, are the biggest post whore I know. I love ya for it though!

(don't get mad about the post whore comment, rather, call me out on the many hypocricies I live by)

Motor mount appears to be taken care of now. Just need battery trays to house and protect my 6S lipo's.

_paralyzed_ 01.06.2009 01:45 AM

the fd ones probably wouldn't hold 6s anyway. Anything you buy will have to be adapted/modded to fit the cen, so this time, I think making something yourself would be easiest.

jzemaxx 01.16.2009 09:29 PM

Well conversion is almost done....first race is 1st week of Feb. I hope to get some runs on video soon. ;) Looking for some lowering shocks though.....probably steal the ones off my MMT since they are complete billet pieces. CEN shocks are plastic...ughh.

BL_RV0 01.16.2009 10:51 PM

Sweet man! We need some pics.

Finally got some pics......truck now has full front and rear swaybar kit as well. My gosh the difference the freaking swaybars make. I can take the truck into a corner at the track faster then even my buddies E-revo. Before the sway bars I was having to brake and throttle carefully to keep it from turning over. Now I can run into a turn almost WOT and drift it.....very nice upgrade for any Nemesis or GST owner.

JZ,

Are you running 4 or 6S lipos? Do you know how many AMPs (Spikes and AVG.) your set up is pushing?

Sounds good. Since I'm not doing any speed runs...amp spikes should be relatively low.

JERRY2KONE 02.19.2009 06:25 PM

Sweet.

Sweet looking project. How do you like the way it handles compared to the G3R or any of the Maxx trucks? Your setup looks very good, all except for the wire hanger holding your motor in place. Just drill it out and put in a through bolt and nut in there. Great project.
