Your scaring me Harold. What was she pinching? happy birthday you two whoever you are.... Maybe they are adopted paternal twins from the same mom, or maybe they are just bastard "children of the /Corn" or something weird like that??? Must be great on your birthdays, and do you celebrate it together??? Now that is what you call close friends.:intello::lol:

Clown...
Yea I can be a bit of a clown when I feel my funny bone acting up. I love the way we can make each other laugh on RCM about more than just R/C. That is half the fun of being a member here. We can't be totally serious about everything that we do. Where the hell is the fun in that?? Glad that I could put you in a laughing mood. Looks like we have nothing better to do today anyway.
My kids are in school and I am just hanging out at home. I will get into the shop some time today and get some work done though. I have my RCM Maxx just about finished. I static mounted up the twin Dewalt 970 motors last night. This thing looks scary. I haven't a clue about the speed calc for this thing, but I have a few selections for pinions, and I am running a 65t RR metal spur with double disc slipper. I guess I will just wing it and see how it flies. I will take it pretty easy up front just to test out the temps and all. I don't want a screeming ball of flames running around scaring the kids half to death. I still have some work to do, but you know I am never in a rush with these things. The setup is pretty sound, but working with the electronics is all new for me. SO this will be a fun learning experience for sure. I am sure that I will break sonething:yes:, but hopefully it will be on the truck and not "someone" getting in the way. Quote:

I have the KershawDesigns 970 Dual as well! :D
Dann says they're straight from DeWalts... So our setup should be pretty much the same! The thing is INSANE! I have the 3906, and tossed it on.. In 2nd, it would scream.. I got scared =/ Anywho, you'll need a fan for your ESC, depending what you're putting it on. I put mine on the good ol' EVX-1.. Runs like a champ! |
I hope you have dual esc's going to those 970's.
They pull huge power. The first pull of the trigger on mine resulted in a loud snap, and all 4 tamiya connectors were toast! |
I never really understood how to wire up dual ESCs..
A EVX-1 w/ a fan should run it just fine. Just cool it down every 8 minutes of straight bashing ^.^ |

That's what I thought.
Though, the EVX DOES handle it. It's surprising. I need to check out these other 4 EVX's I have somewhere in my parts drawer... See if they work as well... Oooh BrianGeeeeeeeeeeee :D Just kidding ;) |
Laughing, laughing, laughing.
Hold on I am still laughing. Sorry Harold. I was just trying to imagine your expression when that happened. I imagine you sitting there in your chair cussing up a storm watching the magic smoke escaping from your ESC. You kill me. Anyway I am going to try and run this on just one Super Duty XR Novak ESC. If it burns up so be it. I am going to try and hook the motors up in series as they suggest and go for it. LIke I stated I will take it easy and check temps every few minutes to see how it handles the massive power struggle, but it will be fun just playing with it. My boys are pretty excited to see it run. I already have one of my projects running with the 4.5 HV Maxx. I am working out the bugs on the truck this weekend and loctiting everything, but it is running pretty fast already. I am only using my old nicklemetal battery packs for now. I have some 7 and 8 cell packs to play with in pairs. I will post up a thread when I have some info to report on.

The super duty is better than the evx and rawfuls runs one ^^^^^^
on the evx they are wired in parallel. You'll get half rpm running them in series, it'll be a turd. If you don't care about toasting it I'd wire them in parallel. |
im getting a single 970 motor from him for my revo, useing a victor 883, dual input, single out.

|
ohhhhh. a sawzall. That's the name for milwaukees recip. saw. But if you never read it, it sounds like zaw zaw. Zaw Zaw is actually some guys name, I know, I googled it! That's a sweet gift, tools are useful:yes:
|
Well, my dad has the big 5 piece kit, and i kept takin em, so he finally got me some, so i'd stop taking his. :mdr:
|
tools
Thats funny. We are doing the same thing for my 13 year old son. He has his own toolbox so he will keep his paws off of my stuff. We started him with a 100 piece tool set with a battery screwdriver. I think it is a great way to get them going on working to repair their own stuff(within reason). Way to go Trev.
